after being a loyal and happy customer of priority plumbing for years I was highly disappointed in the work that was completed to remove a clog in our kitchen sink. when the clog was removed the plumber did not take any precaution to protect the dishwasher which caused the clog to move into that system. I was charged a high price for the removal. although the dishwasher washer stopped working immediately after the work was done i was forced to hire a technician to repair the damage in the dishwasher. the lack of response from priority plumbing is highly disappointing. Outrageously expensive. I was charged over $700 and all the plumber did was to replace a toilet fill valve, a part that costs no more than $25 at Home Depot. The plumber told us that the there option was to replace the entire toilet (which was otherwise totally fine!), but it would cost $1,450!!! I will NEVER EVER use that company again! Oh and they had the nerve to send me a $50 gift card in the mail a couple days later, to be used for future services. They should be ashamed, taking advantage of people like that. Insanely overpriced! After an evaluation of the shower leak and a couple of holes in the drywall I was given an estimate ranging between $2,300 and $4,000. I stopped them right away, paid for the trip and sent them packing. I called a friend of a friend "who knows a good plumber". The guy comes, first thing checks the caulking around the fixtures, the caulking is cracked, gets his caulking gun = problem solved. Cost: $0.00. Now, I know nothing about plumbing repairs checklist but when your computer is dead don't you look first if it is plugged in? read more

Inconsistent, not transparent, and over priced Last year they did a job for $250, this year the exact same job was for $500. I shared the discrepancy of invoices while the job was approximately 45 minutes in total. When addressing the inconsistency, they said they mischarged previously. Additionally on the same visits I asked for a quote to repair an upstairs sink and the quote was $1200 the first time and $2300 the second time, the question/quotation was asked. Overall although the staff are friendly, it's not transparent on the pricing. They have quoted tasks on ipads, which provide inconsistencies based on the plumber who plugs in the price quote to ask. Will not be using it again as the value is not there for the pricing. read more

They call and leave a message and tell you they're coming "tomorrow" to do the annual plumbing check. We had sewage backup in the basement. Greg, the technician arrived on day one and failed to identify the real problem. He pointed to another problem area which turned out to be wrong on day 2. He promised to help clean up the mess on Day 2. On day 2, they said they cleared the problem but recommend even more work. I would have been keen to proceed but he left without helping to clean up the mess and dry the basement. They are NOT referrable as a result and most certainly guaranteed that their competitor with get the big lucrative project instead of Priority Plumbing, where customer service isn't valued. read more

I needed dripping shower knobs upgraded. A man came out, told me it could not be done without taking my whole wall apart and replacing the pipes. He said he could not guarantee his work though he estimated 2-4 thousand dollars. He charged me 50 dollars to tell me the knobs could not be changed and were I to use their services, their work could not be guaranteed! I spoke to manager Jahmil, on the phone and asked for my money back. He said " we do not change knobs" . I got my money refunded. Don't trust these hypesters. If I could, they would get - 1. Everything geared at Priority to ripping off customers. Big sign on Dupont st advertising drain cleanout for $99. Total nonsense. The dispatcher refuses to give any cost beforehand. The guy who came to the house wanted to charge $475 plus hst for a simple bsmt drain cleanout, which is a ripoff. And he didn't even have the tools with him, and woud have had to return next day. I sent him away and reached mr. Rooter guy, who quickly solved the problem at a lot less money than priority. Frankly, when I read the positive reviews in yelp about priority I strongly suspect the company has planted the reviews. The wording in the reviews from "customers" is highly suspect. read more

they gave me a window from 8am-1pm. at 10am they called to say they were running late - totally understandable. at noon they called again to say they're running late- and at 2:55pm called to tell me they're not coming. They left my tenants totally stranded without toilets or water. I understand that people can run late, but don't keep me waiting all day and then tell me you're not coming. The website to book a visit is really slick but everything else was highly disappointing. I needed cartridges replaced in my bathroom sink and shower. Two tech's showed up and were being really creepy constantly saying "wow your place is so nice, must be expensive" over and over. It didn't really feel like a compliment but more like I was being cased. At the end of the consultation I had to pay the 50$ visit fee, and they wanted to charge me $1200 for the job. I asked why it was so expensive and they said it was because all my fixtures were "premium" and they had to buy more expensive parts for it. They refuse to split out parts and labour on their invoices. I turned down the service because I felt unsafe with their communication and that they were trying to rip me off. I ended up buying the replacement parts myself. They were not infact premium, costing me 30$ total at retail price. I then got a plumber through the "jiffy" app, which cost me 80$ for the 1 hour job, including them replacing my under sink pipes that started leaking when we replaced the cartridges. read more

"Priority" Plumbing. What a joke. Made an appointment for a simple kitchen faucet installation. Spoke to the guy who said they could do it the following day, and booked me in for a 7:30-12:00 (!) time slot. I noted that as we were going away for the weekend, I needed to leave around 12:00. They noted that and said it wasn't a problem. I got a call shortly after 9 simply confirming they were coming before noon. Then at 11 they called to say they didn't think they could make it and could I reschedule? I asked the guy to reach out to the techs as I might be able to wait. He called back at 11:30 and said no go. I tried to rebook at a time that was convenient for me (I work and don't want to take a day off to wait around for unreliable plumbers who clearly can't maintain a schedule), so I asked for an evening call. They refused, saying they only deal with emergencies in the evening, despite having screwed me over. Totally unreliable, customer service abysmal, absolutely unwilling to assist a client they screwed over. Terrible. This company's name is deceptive. You're clearly not a priority, they are unreliable and don't care. Save yourself the time and energy by going with a company that actually cares about customer service and understands how schedules work. read more

The company missed its first appointment, and was over two hours late for the second appointment. We still used the company as They quote a "flat rate" fee, which they did not adhere to as they claimed the scope changed. After agreeing to the scope change, we agreed on the price to complete the work based on a maximum rate per day, capped at two days. After completing most of the work the first day and only working a couple of hours the second day, they then claimed that they performed more than a days work on the first day and still charged us for two days of work. I was having back up issues with my main drain so called priority plumbing. After 2 minutes with the camera the plumbing claimed my pipes were broken and it was on my property. He was very quick to offer to do the job and said he could start the next day. With this he quoted me $8000 for the job and charged my $340 to put a camera in the plumbing line for 2 minutes. I decided to get my own camera (off of Amazon for $40) and do some inspecting myself not noticing a pipe break anywhere close to where the plumber quoted. Then for a second review I also got the City Toronto plumbing service to check (WHO DO ALL OF THIS FOR FREE). With this it was determined that the "pipe break" was nothing but sewage build up and both myself and the City plumber easily got a camera past it. Nothing a simple Snake cant and did fix. For FREE.  So either the plumber was completely incompetent or he was trying to pull a scam on me and get me to commit to an $8000 job that DIDNT NEED TO BE DONE! read more

Wow, we were so grateful to have Greg T. show up at our door. He was extremely clear and helpful, identified the problem quickly and got to work on a plan of action. His work was quick but thorough and he's also a pleasure to chat with! Also appreciated that he put up with our dog who was very curious about what was going on. I was also impressed with the customer service when I called. We received updates on our appointment time throughout the day through texts, email and even a phone call. There was NONE of this waiting around wondering when your guy will show up type scenario you get with so many services. This is overall a 5* service handsdown and I can't imagine we will ever call anyone else. (I'll also be specifically asking for Greg every time). read more

Terrible, terrible, terrible. Called yesterday, made an appointment for last night between 5-8. They called at 7 and said they had an "emergency" at another customer's and would need to cancel. So much for my "emergency" & for "Service today or you don't pay". Rescheduled for 8am - was assured it would be 8am, only traffic may slow that down 5 or 10 minutes. 9:00 shows around, no one. Called in, was told he left at 8:30 and should be there shortly. 10am he gets here (I'll note that they offered to conditionally wave their $49 service fee because I complained a lot). Gets here, takes one look at my tub and pulls out his price book - tells me $480+taxes to change the cartridge. $480! Even tells me that he'll throw in the new cartridge (of course you will, they're free with a lifetime warranty - which he told me "oh no they're not free, no warranty on those, etc" yeah bud, they're delta, they are free, but that's besides the point because I HAVE ONE in my hand) I tell him I'll pay him his $49 service fee (which wouldn't be waived if I didn't get the service) and to hit the road - he then starts into a spiel about how he can negotiate, etc. I tell him $170 was my max. He contemplates, wants $200+. We agreed that he could leave - but not before he started asking me "how long are you going to stay here?" and telling me my faucet was "OK, but could be better" - if I wanted a better one he could help me out - uh, yeah, thanks but no thanks. I have already turned the water off, got the new cartridge, and have everything ready - literally all that is needed is the handle removed, swap the cartridge, then turn the water back on. He's going on and on about how it's probably rusted and he'll need to change the handle, etc. Just felt slimy & shady. Not interested in giving my money to a company that operates like that - up-selling on things you don't need, overcharging & under delivering. I have another plumber coming that is charging $85/hour, will show up on time, and won't make me feel like I'm buying a used car. I bet dollars to donuts that it's done for under $200, not $480+$49+taxes. This company is the monster cables of the plumbing industry! I'd rather take the $60 loss of the servie fee then get screwed over on the rest. Also, beware of the 10 star reviews - they offer a $10 gift card to anyone that posts a positive review. Very professionmal telephone staff, but OUTRAGEOUS prices once they get to your house (for 49 dollars). I needed my kitchen sink drain unclogged and the seal on the basket strainer replaced. The top of the line price was FOUR THOUSAND DOLLARS, and went all the way down to a mere 900 dollars, about three times what I am paying anothje r plumber to do. When I balked at the outrageous prices, Brandon, the plumber said they could be negotisated down but not more than fifty percent. The truck says they will clear any drain for 99 bucks. Contacted Priority Plumbing to have my kitchen sink repaired. They ensured that they would arrive prior to 5pm. I stayed home all afternoon waiting. At 3.40pm I called them for an update and then I was told that they would not be able to come. They had other emergencies. As far as I'm concerned, mine was an emergency as I have no other sink and now stuck for the weekend unable to use the sink or the dishwasher. If you read the reviews, you will notice that this is their common excuse. Horrible service, will never use them again. OMG This company is terrible! I have a strong suspicion they buy fake reviews to post online. Companies with A+ rating on BBB have less positive reviews than this company. All the reviews are 5 starts and not a single complaint? I initially picked this company because they had a 'Top Choice Award' thinking it was legit. I looked into Top Choice Award, in my opinion it's not a rigorous and they make money when you use their logo on your company website. Ask for them to come clear a clog, quoted me 99 to unclog and offered me a 'free' inspection into my main line. He was convinced the problem was the roots growing into the pipes (which is true but not significant to cause the clog, they were very fine roots). He quoted me 15, 000 (yes 15k) to remove old pipes and put in new. The plumber failed to see the simple clog was originating from a different pipe. I was able to figure it out just by following the flow of the pipe. Had to hire another company to get the job done. They always start off as nice guys looking to help you but they are there to take your money. If you call for one problem, they will also look around and give you how everything else needs to be fixed and give you a high price. They use fear to make you get the fix right away. I have a suspicion they put on an image of good company on the outside with good customer service but they are very deceitful. AVOID THIS COMPANY! for your own sake, get a second opinion from another company before you have this company do anything! read more

Essentially you get what you pay for and if you want the job done right by very knowledgable professionals the first time, along with the reassurance, it comes at a price. Although the plumber was very pleasant, the advice was poor. I was told I needed a whole new toilet, that it was worn out. The plumber put his finger in the toilet and scooped out the scale from the hole in the toilet - told me the toilet could not be fixed. I had an outside tap that was dripping. The plumber said I needed a new tap installed, it could not be fixed with a washer. The quote was from approx. $1,500 - $2,700 depending on the toilet I picked. Well, since the scale was pulled out with the plumber's finger, the toilet flushes fine now and my husband took the tap apart and the washer was worn; he changed the washer in the tap outside and it works fine. The cost of the repair - less than $5.00. Will not be recommending this company to others and grateful that I did not move forward with the advice given. read more

I called 2 days in advance and booked an appointment, at the time I thought the receptionist (Kevin) was competent and fine - sounded like a robot and spoke over me constantly, but I figured he's got a boring job and is an over achiever... Prior to my appointment I received two reminders - an email and a text - fine. On the day of my appointment Kevin called me 3 times to tell me that the technician was running late - he literally spoke in a robot voice; patronizingly repeating his name and the company name and on and on... like I hadn't just received a call from him an hour before. Each phone call was exactly the same, he asked me if I would you like to reschedule. My reply "No, I took the day off for this". Then he called me a 4th time (3 hours after my appointment time) and said I HAVE to reschedule because the technician wasn't coming. Waisted my entire day for nothing. Ended up calling another company who not only came after hours but didn't charge me an insane rate for service. read more

I had a main drain backup last week and called Priority Plumbing once again. Kostis came out and put a video camera down the drain. We were able to see exactly what the problem was. Tree roots had collapsed our century old drain. It was a big job and their workers worked extremely hard. They did a fantastic job and the yard looks like they were never there! Had a leak in a shower into the basement and called Priority. The first time they simply didn't show in their 3 hour window. I had to call and they told me they'd called to cancel (but they did not). They said they could reschedule for the next day, another 3 hour window. They called 15 minutes before the end of THAT window to say they couldn't make it. We accepted their THIRD reschedule because at that point we were in a bind, and they DID show that time. Plumber was nice, fixed the problem (but had to come back a fourth time). Support staff was unprofessional and borderline rude. Austin was the service technician that came to fix a running toilet, replace the main shut off valve and fix a rocking toilet. I ended up replacing the running toilet because it was 16 years old, he was able to provide me with a few options because he had a few new toilets in his truck. Austin was very courteous and was able to provide me with a price before he started the work. He ran into a little difficulty with repairing the rocking toilet and had to replace a part that I was not quoted for, he provided me with the new quote immediately. I read some reviews stating that Priority Plumbing is overpriced, I cannot comment on whether this is an issue, I called around and the prices appear competitive to other plumbing companies. If you can do it yourself, that's great; however, many of us can't. I would definitely recommend Priority to my family and friends. They were called to replace 2 taps. They are very nice and courteous. The price they quoted was $450-$900 to do the work. I decided to do the work myself. It cost $10.25 for the parts, took 15 minutes to replace the taps and I needed 1 adjustable wrench. This company is priced out of this world. read more

I called Priority Plumbing early on a Sunday morning for a leaking bathroom sink. They confirmed an appointment for me on Monday. I took the day off work and boarded my dog for the day. I received a text at 8:40 am on Monday from the company confirming my appointment for between 9:00 am and 2:00 pm. When nobody had arrived by 2:00 pm, I called and was told that the text they sent is automated and not the actual time they arrive, but that I was "next up". At 3:28 pm, I received a call from the company. When I called back, the woman who answered informed me that the technician was running behind and would not make it to my home at all, not even that evening. She offered to give me the name of another plumbing company. I rebooked the appointment for Friday, which is the soonest I could be off work again. However, when I was explaining how inconvenient this had turned out to be, and was still speaking, she hung up. It is more due to this latter transgression (for which there is no excuse) that I ultimately decided to cancel the Friday appointment, and I will not be calling this company again. read more

While the company is responsive to phone calls, be warned that they will make you wait,wait and wait some more until their technicians are done with their "emergency" work. It is not even freezing in Toronto so I am not at all convince about this "emergency" work they all claim to be doing. I first called this company to book an appointment last Monday or Tuesday (I can't remember but it was certainly ample time), the lady I spoke to agreed to send a technician between 1pm and 3pm on Friday, she also said that she would send an email (did not receive one) and call me the day of (no phone call). I finally called Friday morning to make sure that they are coming, a different lady told me that I was in the schedule but they cannot guarantee a 2 hour window (even though the previous person I spoke to already confirmed that window and their response on the Homestars board also states 2 hours!!), after some discussion, I agreed and waited for the 3 hours. Close to 4pm Friday, I called and ask if the technician is delayed, the lady said that oh I was just thinking about calling you, it turns out the technician is at an emergency and would not be able to make it (seriously they didn't know this earlier!! I really wonder how competent their plumbers are if they can't even figure out an approximate of time they would need to finish a job). I complained because if it was truly an emergency, they would known this and should have informed me and probably others that have been scheduled so they don't have to wait for the technician. I agreed to reschedule today (Saturday), I took this risk as they did have a great review from several sources. I called again and a person by the name of Allison answered and she did confirm that I am on the schedule and the technician would be just finishing his work and should be calling her soon to provide an update and to call me to schedule the time of the visit. I asked her that this is not acceptable as it is close to 12 noon and if they will be late, they need to let me know right away. She said she would call the technician. She calls me back 10 minutes after to let me know the following; turns out, this technician will now require an additional few more hours at this "emergency" job and no other technician is available because they are all working "emergencies". Peering through my window, it baffles me considering how sunny it is outside and it is not even that cold, I don't quite understand all these emergencies that they have. I wonder if this really means, "I have a bigger job that would pay more so I will prioritize this first before you that requires a smaller job that would pay me less. You can just wait until I ran out of this bigger jobs." Allison provided me an option of extending my waiting time today or re-booking to a different date. Honestly, do they really think that people would just wait after them, plumbing is plumbing. There are other plumbers in Toronto that also have great reviews and I surely hope this other places have some dignity and tact in dealing with new customers. Don't bother with this one unless you have an "emergency" that would require thousands of dollars and you don't have a choice but to pay since it is an emergency! read more
