Terrible insurance company that does not care about the individual. I have had Priority Health for over 25 years. For the past 10 year I have been paying as an individual for a policy with a $7400 deductible and almost nothing covered. Today was the final straw. I had scheduled a surgery with an in network provider and find out what my costs would be since it will all be going to deductible. I was informed that while the physician is in network, the places he performs the surgery are not, and therefore there will be no writeoffs for the cost. While I believe this should be illegal apparently the government and insurance companies work together. I have canceled my surgery and want to warn others about this pathetic situation. read more

Medicare reimbursement. In my Advantage plan I'm eligible for around $300 in annual reimbursement for gym dues. So far, due to resistance from Priority, it's taken around 30 hours of my time to obtain around $200 in reimbursements. This should be a cut and dried process, since the dues are the same amount monthly. But it seems like Priority is doing everything in their power, to make this a very difficult process. During the wait, the same four recorded messages loop endlessly. After ten minutes of listening to them, I developed a migraine. This is not just inconvenient -- it's unacceptable. If you want to offer an OTC benefit, you need to staff your customer service department adequately and ensure your cards actually work. Just enrolled in 2026. Husband spent hours looking for a plan after my other insurance left Michigan. Found Priority health that took my Dr. and Orthopedic Dr.First thing I did was give new information to Orthopedic Dr. so I could get my knee injections for an injury I have, was told insurance won't pay for any injections. Then my Family Dr. sent in a script for Trulicity to replace the Ozempic I'm on, Denied also.They want me to back track like a guinea pig, then when other meds that I've been on don't work for My Diabetes then try again. Their website rarely works as it should and trying to check claims information results in a message, saying their servers are down and their heads are in the clouds. Wow, so true. If you're knowledgeable and ready to fight about nearly every claim, by all means, priority health is for you! We are insured through my husband's work or we would have left years ago. Bills not being processed for nearly a year, claims being processed as out of network even though the provider was in network and my biggest gripe is the delay between claim submission and processing so it's nearly impossible to calculate when you hit your deductible. Sneaky verbiage in our plan details (for example, fam ded of $4k but not to exceed $3500 per person.. STILL doesn't mean your family ded is met even when one person hits that $3500 as the other $500 was assigned to the rest of my family) that even the reps couldn't explain! I had to escalate the issue three times and finally got a call back from a manager who wasn't the friendliest and still wasn't understanding my point. A few of the representatives have been kind and helpful not at all knowledgeable. See the problem? Even though my payment was direct debited from my bank account by them every month on time I just got another bill from them in the mail from 10 months ago saying I have to pay almost $400 for seeing my primary care physician twice when it's supposed to be $10 to see my primary care physician and $25 to see a specialist . I got a Priority Health Plan through the Healthcare.gov Marketplace. IT WAS THE BIGGEST WASTE OF MONEY!! DON'T SIGN UP WITH THEM!! It cost me $637 per month. Like so many others have said. NO ONE WILL TAKE THIS INSURANCE. Their website has inaccurate information as to who will take the insurance, so don't rely on that. I unfortunately did when I signed up, and then I had to call Priority. They told me that I would need a "referral" for someone that was supposedly in network from the start. I asked them how to get a referral, and they told me they do not give referrals. When I started the insurance, they automatically assigned me a Primary care physician several miles, and two cities away, in Hamtramck (a dangerous area-especially for a woman). I called them and asked them to help me find another primary care physician--because I couldn't find one on their site. The rep was having a hard time trying to find someone in my city willing to accept a new patient, and finally put me on hold, and then just hung up the line. I called again and another rep was again, not able to find a possible primary care physician, and hung up the line. I was astounded. Please note that this insurance will not cover you if there is a vehicle involved--even if you are not driving a car, but walking and are hit by a car. YOU have to pursue the driver of the car to get payment. Priority said they will not turn you away at the hospital, but you will be stuck with the bill and will have to pursue the driver of the car. I had 2 generic common cheap scripts, and again THIS INSURANCE WOULD NOT COVER THEM. I paid for all scripts out of pocket. I paid for all doctor visits myself. PRIORITY HEALTH IS A WASTE OF MONEY--DON'T MAKE THE MISTAKE I DID!! I finally wised up after 6 months of fighting with them and cancelled it. BUT I WASTED $3800 AND GOT NOTHING!! read more

This has got to be the worst insurance company that I have ever dealt with in my entire life. It is a complete nightmare. I kept asking for a supervisor or a manager and all I got was a runaround, with different phone numbers that I had already tried. Then they made a three-way call, and the representative, I don't know from which country, connected me to another agent and then said, "Okay, I've put you through, have a nice day, I'll let you talk." After the representative from Priority Health hung up, the associate on the phone explained to me that she does not handle transportation. She had already informed the agent at Priority Health that transportation was not within her remit, but because Priority Health did not want to connect me to a supervisor or a manager, that's how it was left. This is not the way to treat people, especially those covered under your Priority Health plans. I would caution anyone looking for insurance not to choose Priority Health. They are uncaring, to say the least. Even the agent that was mistakenly connected to me couldn't believe that she had been left on the call, as she made it clear that she doesn't handle transportation, only gas cards. Priority Health needs to evaluate their staff and perhaps implement intensive customer service training. If they cannot improve their service, they should not be in business. I am not sure why so many complaints regarding Priority Health. First, I have been using my Credit Card to pay my Premium and any other bills for several years without any problem. I have been to the Customer Service Office in the Beltline a few times with complete satisfaction, and last but not least I have never had an issue with claims. I am a healthcare provider, and I have completely dropped off forms of priority health. They are extremely difficult to get newer drugs for their patients, have exceedingly high thresholds to pay for newer drugs. They also have ridiculous outside agencies, controlling their accessibility to testing and imaging using made up policies or guidelines, which, if researched in many cases do not even exist at an academic level. I would caution anyone to stay away from this insurance, and this includes their Medicaid, their commercial and their advantage plans as they all are junk. they will sell you a great speech about how great they are, and when it comes to needing care, your provider will be extremely frustrated and or unable to render adequate care, this company is awful. watch out for surgical denials. The advantage plan denied a surgery for my husband after he had the exact procedure in a different area in 2022. They are recommending a more expensive surgery with a much longer recovery time. We are currently in an appeal process with Medicare. The surgeon's office said this is common with advantage plans but not supplemental . very frustrating and disappointing. we will both drop Priority Health Advantage in the next enrollment period. read more

I was diagnosed with "chronic Systolic Heart Failure" by a spectrum health facility (Spectrum Heart in Grand Rapids). I was told I needed open heart surgery to repair my aortic valve at a cost of $165,000 (estimated). Spectrum refused to do a minimal invasive less expensive procedure called TAVR that would fix the issue and avoid open heart surgery. My Drs at Holland hospital (spectrum also) were in agreement with Spectrum Heart. They said I had Partial Valve dehiscence and TAVR procedure would not work. Only .3 - 1.2 % of people get this so I had doubts. I received a third opinion from Cleveland Clinic. (out of network) Their exact words "we don't like to be 100% opposite and in disagreement of other hospitals but your diagnosis is 100% wrong. I proceeded to get the TAVR procedure done which would save PRIORITY HEALTH Approx. $100,000. 6 months later I am doing great, priority wealth refused to cover it! What it comes down to is that SPECTRUM HEALTH/HOSPITAL OWNS 93.9% of PRIORITY HEALTH. Therefore they want to force you to go to their facility even if it means you have to have open heart surgery instead of a procedure that Cleveland Clinic performed as out patient surgery in a 40 minute procedure without ripping my chest open and a 7 day hospital stay and lots of recovery time. This should be ILLEGAL, for a healthcare company to be owned by a hospital. They would rather tell me every year that my premiums are going up and make me pay more. As to have some sort of common sense to realize they could pay Cleveland Clinic $65,000 instead of paying Spectrum $165,000 and save themselves 100K. But I guess they find it in their best interest to try to force PH members into a procedure not needed so they can pay themselves even if it is not remotely in the patient/members best interest. Because then when you actually do what is best for you they get your premiums and they can then deny to pay anything. Their appeals process is a joke!
