First time customer here. I normally get my nails done at Varsity Nails, but when I missed my September appointment I needed to find a place to get them done. At first glance, the salon is very clean and neat. I was able to walk in and get a pedicure and gel polish change (no manicure) on my hands without waiting . Staff were very polite, and the pedicure was excellent. The total cost for the two was very affordable and I was done in about an hour. As far as the longevity of my nails go, I cannot yet speak to that since it is the first day. Overall I do see myself returning in the future for last minute appointments when I cannot get in at my normal spot. But for those who haven't found a nail home yet and are looking for reasonable prices, check them out. read more

My mom and I have been coming here for the past 5+ years. Tanya and Alan are extremely professional and take cleanliness extremely serious. Through the pandemic they took every precaution and continue to do so now. My mom has a few health concerns and they made it possible for us to continue seeing each other and spend a little quality time while "social distancing" in 2020, (once they were able to reopen). Over the years, they have become much more than our nail technicians.... They are friends (family, even). They always do a fantastic job and value their customers. My mom and I even joke that going in there seems like therapy sometimes. We are so grateful for their accommodations that have allowed my mom and I to have some standing quality time every couple of weeks. Appointments are always appreciated and understanding that it is a small business with only the two of them is necessary. I don't normally get my nails done, not since an accident at a mall. That said, this struck me as odd. I told them I was new at this. They pointed me at a wall of paints. I stood there having no idea what to even ask honestly. I picked a gorgeous midnight blue with sparkles in it. Then they started to work. I was obviously stressed, ridged, tense the whole time. She was impatient with me, I'm not coordinated, my hands shake and I bumped wet polish on the 3 inch hole customers stick their hands through at the stations, there are partitions at each seat now. It made me more tense than I was. In all, I'd wanted nail art and glow in the dark gel. I was giving myself a birthday gift. They didn't offer that here. Nothing but a nail paint. I'm ok with it, it's less than I wanted but I didn't know how to ask for what i hoped for but the place seemed like it was barebones honestly. Great, fast service at an affordable price. I had the day off and wanted to treat myself. This place had the highest reviews on yelp. I called to book an appointment just in case and they could fit me in within the hour. (Side note: a girl walked in during my appointment and they scheduled her for later in the day so they could stay on track with appointments and get her serviced as well.) I just called to set up an appointment and the lady was very rude over the phone. I understand that getting different services take different amounts of time, but if this person explains the different services I can understand and request what I need. After I set up the appointment with the services that I needed, she hanged up the phone on me. She didn't even say "see you soon" or "thank you for calling" not even a goodbye. Great service. I was able to call and get in for the same day service for a gel manicure. I was promptly greeted when I entered the establishment and guided to pick a color of polish. My hands were soaked in warm water and my cuticles were prepped. Once the polish was on he lotioned up my hands and put a warm rag on them. He was very quick, thorough and professional. I just came back from Princess nails and I've never been so offended and disrespected before. It's only been 5 days since I got my nails done with shellac and it's already peeling off and the color is fading. This has never happened to my shellac manicures before so I went back hoping they could fix it or issue me a refund at the least. It's an expensive manicure that should last at least 2-3 weeks. Well the main guy was being a smart ass asking me "Do you make shellac?" and saying that it was my fault it was peeling off because I wanted another coat to make the color stand out more. Like, sir... if you knew that my nail polish would peel off so fast, why didn't you warn me about this before you did that? He knew the consequences and went ahead and did it. Not professional and a waste of my money. Backtrack... when I picked my color from their shellac samples it was a tan-nude color but painted on my nail it was light pink. As soon as he painted my thumb (the first nail he painted) I told him it that wasn't the color I was looking for but he insisted that it would turn out like a nude... NOPE. So after he painted all my nails and I didn't like it he said he couldn't change the color cause it was shllac... LAZY MUCH?? LIKE IT'S YOUR JOB. So that's why I asked him to put on 2 coats of a different color just on top of the one color he pushed me to get. He said he should have charged me extra...NO SIR, you should have warned me that it wouldn't last very long... Then I would have not gotten a 3rd coat. Anyway, so rude and disrespectful. He was being a smart ass the whole time while I was just trying to explain why I wasn't happy with the manicure. He told me to go to another salon... like what? I'm a waitress and such a reasonable person. I know good customer service and know when something is a big deal and when it is not. All I wanted was a a quick fix and he laughed at me. So ladies, I just encourage you to go else where because these guys don't care about their customers. RESPONSE TO HUY... 1. I did get shellac 2. I was told "I can't re do this because it's shellac" 3. If I supposedly didn't get shellac done, why was I charged for it? 4. Everyone knows that Shellac is suppose to last 2-3 weeks so you should probably know your "area of expertise" a little bit better. I wish I could give Princess Nails a 5 star, but their lack of appointments and workers really bothers me. They only take appointments on Monday and Tuesday, but when you walk in on any other day, you are guaranteed a huge wait! I have only seen 2 people ever work there, which is so inconvenient if you are unable to make a reservation. Today, I went in 5 minutes before they opened (according to a phone call I had with them the previous day) and 2 people were well into a manicure, and 2 people waiting! I figured that could go by pretty fast, but they told me the wait would be 1+ hours. The one time I had an appointment, they did a phenomenal job. Really great with nails, and an amazing pedicure! But the lack of customer service and workers in general really turns me away from coming here as a walk in. read more

Great place. I love that they don't do acrylic here, it doesn't smell so bad. Very clean place and massage chairs. Employees are very friendly and don't rush through anything. I went here a few years ago and didn't have a great experience (not awful, but not great). I have a gift certificate and I've been avoiding using it because of my past experience. Today I called to make an appointment, and got one for this afternoon. I was unfortunately running late and called (as a courtesy!) to say I was running late, but on my way, if they wouldn't mind keeping my appointment. The lady I spoke with was quite condescending and rude. Now I remember why I didn't like the place before. I'm sure the polish and manicure would have been fine, and they already have the money from the gift card so I might as well spend it, and yes, I was running late, but I really think she could have been nicer on the phone. I was really nervous about getting my nails done in Columbia because most of the yelp reviews are terrible. Don't believe everything you read; some people just like to complain. I tried this place because it was close to my apartment and overall I was happy with my experience. It was a short wait time, friendly staff and my nail technician did a good job (not as good as my guy back home, but everyone has their go-to place). Now the real test will be to see how long my gel manicure lasts. I'm hoping for at least two weeks. read more

I had a great experience here yesterday! I walked in for a mani/pedi and was immediately put into a chair to start- no waiting at all. I will say that I was a little disappointed in the polish selection, but managed to find 2 colors I liked. The technician was very nice and thorough and did an amazing job! For the price of the mani/pedi I was blown away with the service I received. The pedicure is $25 and not only is it a soak, pumice, and polish it also includes exfoliation of the foot and lower leg, massage, and hot towel- best price and service in town!! While visiting family I went to this salon for a mani/pedi. While I was waiting, several people came in and then left....why? Because the didn't take reservations --- on a Saturday!?!? They lost several potential customers due to that fact. (I've never heard of a nail salon NOT taking reservations) My basic pedi was OK (not great)...she didn't get rid of all the dry skin and my nails weren't cut short enough. I wasn't impressed with the small variety of colors to choose from. There really wasn't any type of massage after my feet soaked in the wash basin. The basic mani was also OK (not great). There were some rough edges that I asked the gal to round off...only filed down a couple. I got a clear coat on my fingers - and a couple of them have the clear coat already flaked/pealed off. Weird! The nail technicians were friendly and the facility was clean. I wish that they would have at least a TV to watch while sitting in the chairs that only seemed to have sporadic working controls. Also, offering customers a drink would be nice. (I had to ask if they had anything). The nail salons I go to offer drinks, some even offer wine/margaritas. I won't be back. Mainly because I don't live there - but even if I DID live there, I would find another place to go. read more

Princess Nails wasn't a bad place to get a mani/pedi. I wouldn't say that I was impressed by any means, but it wasn't the worst place I've been either. I would say that for the price, significantly less expensive than Varsity Nails, it is the best place to get your nails done in Columbia, MO. With that being said, it cannot compete with salons in larger cities, but for the price and convenience, I'd say it wasn't bad at all. read more

Made an apt for a gel mani/pedi, signed in stating that I was there for a gel mani/pedi, and when I was pointed toward the nail polishes for my pedicure I said, "these are the ones for gel?" and was told yes. Yet I somehow ended up with a regular pedicure (first time doing gel, so I didn't know what we were doing). The pedicure experience was delightful, but in the finished product you can see each and every coat of paint. Managed to switch to gel for my manicure, in a pale white/pink, and it had distinguishable lines in the polish. read more
