Visiting just after Christmas I was delighted to see the old fish market building( which I can remember as having net stores and a wet fish shop in it) has had a very sympathetic face lift , and a balcony added. We went into the dowstairs bar for a late afternoon beer and were very taken with both the decor,service and beer choice. I enquired about opening hours for the upstairs restaurant for that evening and to my surprise (bearing in mind this was in the quiet period between Xmas and New Year) was told that although they took orders until 2100 they had only 2 tables left for that night. Duly booking and returning at 2030 I have to say we had no regrets. Warm friendly greeting from our server for the night (Damian) who really went out of his way to make sure we were comfortable and enjoying ourselves. He also knew the menu well and made excellent reccomendations. Fresh well cooked food with a great selection of not just fish but some great meat dishes. My wife had a crab linguine which was superb. Well worth a visit

Please forgive me it was new years eve and the beers do not help my memory of what it was. Chicken i think. The decor was like a upper class London restaurant, but with the added photos of the chiefs yachting trip. I did so wish that i had gone too on the trip. The service was great once a glass was empty it was refilled. Plates cleared away as soon as it was done with.

We were recommended this place and called ahead to book for lunch. They wouldn't take a booking but…read moresaid there should be space at 2pm when we wanted. We arrived on the day only to be told they closed at 1.30pm for a private party. Shoddy and disrespectful - we won't bother to come here again.
