EasyJet - Easyjet Plane at Amsterdam Schiphol Airport

I've flown with Easyjet on multiple occasions throughout the years including to Madrid, and…read moreAmsterdam twice, most recently for my birthday trip last year. Easyjet are a British low-cost airline, they are a familiar brand name across Europe with the bright orange logo and Easy branding now being used for gyms and budget hotels. Easyjet are grouped into the category of low-cost budget airlines, but I find them as more of a middle-of-the-line option, fares are often lower or very similar to other airlines, and they aren't Ryanair cheap. It can be straightforward to get a good deal when using Skyscanner and booking in advance though. Being a "low-cost" airline you can't expect too much, you won't find USB charging on board and their version of "WiFi" only includes access to tracking your flight in real-time, checking out the food/drink menu and playing a select amount of games. Gluten-free food on board is also non-existent. I had an incident in 2014 where I flew with Easyjet as a recently diagnosed Coeliac; the stewardess told me the couscous was gluten-free when it was not. It was a good job I ended up checking the packaging before eating it, or I could have become very sick. Other than this one-off incident, I haven't had any other major issues when flying with Easyjet and while their food options for allergens haven't really improved, I hope their staff training has. One big advantage for me as a regular traveller from Manchester, is that as of October 2024, they use Terminal 1, which is far better than Terminal 3 used by some budget airlines. The seats are no more or less comfortable than any other airline, and as I'm short the leg room isn't a dealbreaker for me. 3* - OK, I wouldn't choose to fly with Easyjet if an alternative was on offer, but as far as airlines go, they aren't too bad.

Charged £48 for 1 cm: I Won't Be Flying easyJet Again I…read morerecently flew with easyJet and, based on this experience, I will no longer be booking flights with them--and neither will the people I regularly travel with. EasyJet, that's multiple future bookings you have now lost. Just before boarding at Gatwick, my small suitcase was found to be roughly 1 cm too tall, despite all other dimensions being within limits. I was charged £48 to upgrade my bag. The case has flown with easyJet and other airlines many times without any issue and it fits perfectly under the seat, where I have placed it on previous flights. On my return flight, the bag wasn't checked at all--highlighting how inconsistent and arbitrary these checks can be. With so many similar negative reviews on TravelAdvisor for example, it's clear this kind of treatment is their standard practice. It's disappointing to see an airline handle their customers this way, especially when I'm due to travel soon to one of their destinations--but will now be choosing another carrier. Plenty of choice there. I hope this review helps other passengers: EasyJet's bag checks are extremely strict, inconsistent, and leave no margin whatsoever. Measure everything very carefully or go with a different airline. Date of travel: January 2026.
