Sink into one of the cozy chairs and watch the traffic pass yet at the same time feeling, as if perhaps, you are somewhere else? An impressive array of homemade cakes etc., awaits your attention when you place your order which, even if you choose to take a seat in the upstairs lounge, will be brought to you by a member of the pleasant staff. For a light lunch you may try their delcious homemade soup with a roll? I would be happy to recommend this establishment to my female contacts as a place for the unaccompanied traveller to stop and rest a while in a spotlessly clean and safe environment. With a fantastic location opposite the entrance to King's College, this is a great place to come in and browse - and for that reason, if you want some buying advice, you may have to wait a while due to the sheer number of people who wander in. However, the staff do really know their stuff and are extremely helpful, even for novices who might feel a little intimidated. I first went in with only a vague idea of the kind of thing I wanted and came away with much useful information. Later, having bought the prints we wanted, we took them to the Lawson Framing Gallery and had them expertly mounted and framed.

The Fountain gallery is an asset to Bridge Road. We need somewhere like this. Although it is a…read moresmall shop it is amazingly effective. The premise is that it is a cooperative art gallery. It is collectively run by 18 artists who showcase their work here on alternate times. The Fountain Gallery also have guest artists. Usually each artist is allocated a certain period of time in which to showcase their work. I believe that the times are not fixed. Most artists seem to take it over for about a month. During this time they oversee the gallery, so customers can come and talk to the artists about their work. The art comes in a mixture of forms. Generally it is painted work, most in watercolours, sometimes there are photographers who exhibit their work. Occasionally there are potters. Although the gallery closes at 6, I have often walked past and seen open evenings, it is worth phoning ahead to find out what is on.

They had the smoke and strobing lights and it gave the impression that it was a much bigger venue. Staff were helpful although they could not get me on line on the conference wifi which is allegedly available throughout the arts centre (not to mention across the entire campus?) The auditorium which I was in, I am assuming was the main one, was of a good size and functioned well for the event launch I was at. There is plenty of space within the arts centre to sit have a chat/meeting. There were a couple of food/beverage areas so as long as you have some funds you should be able to get some sustenance to keep you going. The drawback would be that parking is limited but if you are staying/working out of Radcliffe or Scarman the distance to walk is not far at all so it nicely negates the need to drive anyway.

Very modern facilities, they have a cinema, bookshop, concert hall, theatres, cafe, art gallery and bars. Warwick students are eligible for discount when they enter the cinema. This is high end art run by a lady with a vaste pedigree in the Art World. Lady Isobel Throckmorton is a treasure, her knowledge and eye going back as far as her time as a wartime runner for Philip Green - one of the most esteemed London Galleries. Call ahead and you'll be treated to a feast for the eyes which is better than many a large London Gallery. Talk to Lady Throckmorton and she will open your eyes to a new World. Not to the faint of pocket but if you have money to spend, this is the place to go.

This is a great little art gallery in the centre of Bury St. Edmunds. It is in a grade I listed…read morebuilding. The atmosphere is very relaxed and there is a small library where you can relax, read art books and have a coffee. They also have a craft/gift/book shop. The Suffolk Showcase exhibition was on when I visited and there was some very good work. The gallery has a constantly changing exhibition space and admission is now free of charge. I would certainly recommend a visit next time you're in town.
