This city dweller took a trek here on a recommendation and PRIMOS DID NOT disappoint! Every minute of my experience was PERFECT. I've dined and experienced some of the most amazing Mexican restaurants and by far primos makes a MEAN margarita. Probably one of the best I've had in a while. Also, went during happy hour and it was 7 dollars. Check menu for happy hour deals. :) As soon as I walked into Primos I was greeted and every staff member was pleasant , warm & struck up a conversation- like we were old friends. The guac was also HALF off (amazingly delicious !) and the Al Pastor tacos were on point. May I add- $12 dollars !!! They were also presented oh so beautiful. The chips and salsas were also flowing and the salsas were so fresh. Don't forget to order elotes- the corn & flavors combined packed the perfect punch. So we came here for a workers going away party and we sat outside. Some of our friends ordered food and it took almost an hour for them to receive their food. It took almost 15 mins for us to get a menu, 10 mins later we ordered our drinks. I believe we saw our waitress 1 more time over the next 30 mins. The chips and salsa were not fresh, they were out of most of the draft beers, so I got a modela negra. After a while, the waitress started showing up and taking care of our group. Today was our first time trying out this restaurant. My girlfriend & I were coming back from Indiana. We were going to go home to have left overs when I said I wanted Mexican for lunch. So we stopped here. First off, I was very impressed with the location. The inside of the restaurant doesn't match the outside. The employees are extremely friendly & helpful. We placed an order to-go. When I saw how they prepared our food I was even more impressed. The attention to detail is above & beyond. This is hands down the BEST Mexican food that I've ever experienced in Elmhurst. It's definitely in the top 5 that I've experienced in my life & I've had a LOT of Mexican cuisine. Not one flavor fights to overpower another. Everything is very well balanced & come together perfectly. The steak in the chimichanga is well seasoned & extremely tender. This restaurant is not cheap/inexpensive. But it is worth every penny!!! If you haven't put this place on your radar, I highly suggest you do so & do it sooner than later. Cute little spot for Mexican food in downtown Elmhurst. I enjoyed the upscale chill vibes, but the music was too loud for my liking. The entire restaurant was very noisy, with many people talking/yelling over the music as well, making it difficult to have a conversation. The food and service were great! We were served chips and salsa when we sat down, and our margs quickly followed. The chimichanga and enchiladas were delicious. My boyfriend did however unwrap his napkin to find a piece lettuce on his "clean" fork...not sure what to think of that. read more

Food is great if you have hours to spend sitting and waiting. Arrived at 6:00 on a Saturday, it is currently 7:20 and we just got our appetizer (which was a quesadilla). I have worked at a restaurant before and understand that it is not the servers fault, however, our server told us multiple times that he was going to check on our app and it STILL took an hour to arrive. You would think that they would be rushing our order-- however we were unfortunately not the only table waiting over an hour for an appetizer. Our server then told us if the app didn't come out, he would comp it which was good to hear but we could not justify that for an hour long quesadilla. A table around us actually got up and left. People clapped around us when they finally got their food. Entrees tasted great, good drinks. The atmosphere is nice especially to sit outside. Just be prepared to wait forever! read more

Came for lunch on the outdoor patio. The staff was friendly and welcoming, attentive - several checked in on me during my visit. There were a few heat lamps going although they probably didn't need them yet - it was comfortable, nice and warm when the sun was shining. The food was good, it came out SUPER fast... almost too fast... I hadn't had a sip of my drink yet. But I was dining alone and I didn't mind. I enjoyed the yummy chips and salsa. Loved my side of guac. I ordered the pollo loco tacos which were good, but I would have preferred a smaller portion option on the menu. The tacos were stuffed generously and I ended up leaving the 3rd untouched. For lunch I feel there should be a few lighter menu options, or the ability to sub a taco for a side. The house margarita was unremarkable. Think they will need to improve on their drink menu if they are to be successful in the future. I will visit again because I like the option to dine outside - hopefully I can convince my husband to split a few dishes with me so I can get more variety. read more

They were very busy so service was ok but I certainly don't blame them for behind behind! The guacamole was missing salt for sure and they were so busy that I didn't ask for any. I have been here a few times and the food is ok. Very pricy for the amount you get. The service was not great last time I went. The waiter was rude and made several mistakes. Mistakes happen no biggie but he took his mistakes out on the customers. Order cerviche which is supposed come with plantain chips, they didn't come with it so I asked for them and the server said "I couldn't find them" and didn't offer to bring anything else or discount the dish. Others at the table ordered 2 tacos but 3 were brought out, he told them to keep them and ended up charging them for the additional tacos. When this was brought up he said okay give me them back. The food I received was good but it wasn't what I ordered and the service was poor. I asked for a fajita burrito without peppers. The normal burrito had tomato and lettuce, which I didn't want, which is why I ordered the fajita one. The waitress seemed confused when I asked for no pepper and asked again if I wanted the fajita burrito. I said yes, I want everything else with that burrito, just not the peppers. I cut the burrito open, and not only was it full of peppers, it was also full of tomato and lettuce which isn't even listed as an ingredient for this. This restaurant is fantastic. They have a great patio and awesome staff. Great chips and salsa verse that comes before your meal and amazing drinks! I personally ordered the steak fajitas - I have to say the steak was the best cooked steak I have ever had at a Mexican restaurant - it was cooked to perfection. My fiancé ordered the taco salad which was SO good. Any taco salad without a tortilla shell is a no for me - but this one had a great shell and awesome dressing. Terrible meal. Poor, non existent service. My husband and I were there. There were 8 employees standing around talking. Ordered vegetarian nachos only to find out the beans are made with chicken stock. Server was irritated when we cancelled the order. Ordered vegetarian tacos which were a mush pile of indistinguishable veggies. They were too spicy and we could not eat them. We ordered vegetarian salad and it had a fish taste. Reviews were right about the service here. Waited at the front for 5 full minutes, there was 3 tables taken and 2 people at the bar. Then we sat ourselves outside at the patio and the bartender didn't acknowledge us and the other couple that walked up for another 5 minutes. Then goes to another couple and gets their drinks before helping us and the other couple that came at the same time. The environment is "nobody working here seems to know what they should be doing". Really really like this joint. clean and cheery and tasteful atmosphere. plenty of privacy with lively conversation nonetheless. We went here on a Thursday night and there was a respectable crowd. The chips and salsa were delicioso. The salsa was a green tomatillo salsa - salty, highly acidic, perfect amount of spice. It got me salivating. I ordered three tacos - camarones, veggie, and chorizo. They were each fantastic in their own right. My companion ordered the enchiladas mole - which I tried - and I would order that again. For some reason I was really craving a Mexican soda and they didn't have any. That would be a nice touch - and easy to pull off. The service was attentive. And the price was totally reasonable. It's on the main strip in Elmhurst which brings the village vibe and other places to grab a drink, coffee, dessert. I will make the hike out here when craving Mexican. My partner and I were craving tacos last night and our usual spot was closed so we decided to try out Primos Locos, and we don't regret it! We ordered the Carnitas Tacos, the Carne Asada Tacos and one Pork Tamale to try out. The only complaint I would have would be that the prices were quite high for three tacos which also didn't come with any sides. The tacos were absolutely delicious though! The Carnitas were seasoned well and melted on the tongue, and the salsa drizzled over them was fantastic. The Pork Tamale was also very well done and packed full of meat. I loved the green salsa they had on it! We ordered carry out and they gave us a bag of complimentary chips and salsa which was pretty tasty! The chips seemed to be homemade which is awesome and they were delicious. Overall, this place is a little pricey, but I will definitely be back since their food was packed full of flavor! read more
