The woodchips we had we becoming more and more of an eyesore and the tree stumps started rotting due to all the rain and smelled horrible. Erik was able to come out on relatively short notice and we asked about pet proof turf and he was able to bring a couple samples for us to view. Even though some of the samples he brought were super lush, he suggested a shorter turf so it's easier to clean. His quote was super reasonable as well. We pretty much knew we wanted to hire him right after he left so we gave him a call and he was able to come out 2 days later to install the turf. His team arrived early and spent the entire day getting rid of the stumps, leveling out the dirt, adding composite, and installing the turf. He also added some rocks at the border near the fence so the entire area looks super cute. I left on a work trip and came back a week later so I didn't see it the day it was done but coming back to it made me so happy. It looks incredibly good. I can't help but admire it every time I'm out there and my dogs are super in love with it too. If i ever need any additional landscaping or fence services, I will definitely hire Erik and his team again!

Long overdue review…read more After I completed my retaining wall in our backyard, it was time to move onto finishing the yard with full pavers and artificial turf. I met with a few different contractors, and after meeting Jose and his team, I went with Simancas Landscaping and was very happy with the decision. I actually created the plan myself for the backyard, and reviewed it with Jose and it came out exactly as I had hoped! I did all the landscaping myself, but I am sure that his team could've also done that as well. We also decided to pave over our concrete California Room to make everything cohesive, and the finished product came out better than expected. Our project was extensive, involving hardscaping, landscaping, fence work, lighting, and an outdoor sink. After vetting 8-9 different quotes, James's proposal stood out for being highly competitive without sacrificing high-quality specs. The execution more than matched the pitch. James is wonderful to work with--never pushy and truly dedicated to his craft. He has completed a ton of projects in the area and had an extensive portfolio of example pictures / videos to show us. This was incredibly helpful in narrowing down our choices for pavers and materials to match our vision. He was on-site with the crew every single day, which made communication seamless. You only have to explain your vision once; he "just gets it," remembers the details, and executes perfectly. The crew is easily the most hardworking and efficient team we have ever seen. Rain or shine, they were here from ~7:30 AM to ~4:30 PM, six (sometimes 6.5!) days a week. The progress they made daily was remarkable, and they actually finished the project sooner than expected. Got an honest quote right up front from these guys and scheduled them for a grind. Super friendly, professional and punctual. Cut the remaining trunk down and ground down and was able to go 1'-1.5' deep in the soil so I can plant a more size-appropriate tree here. Our drip line was too close to the grind and got clipped but before I even saw it, they had capped it off after they blew the saw dust off the driveway. Call these folks first. You'll get some whacky quotes otherwise. Like one was for $350.
