The owner's approach towards these problems, more often than not, included deflecting responsibility onto the client, which exacerbated the challenges. I feel it's important to emphasize that engaging with this firm will likely lead you to unexpected costs and significant setbacks. Therefore, I strongly recommend if you are evaluating this firm to examine all options thoroughly. A partnership with VMR will prove more taxing than beneficial. In the end, working with VMR was a terrible experience and one that ended up with me having to pay much more than I should have for another firm to go into the books and retroactively clean up the mess that was left.

They were an okay last-minute option when our usual tax preparer became suddenly unavailable…read more However, the overall experience was disappointing and felt deceptive. They offer a 10% discount in exchange for a 5-star review -- something both my fiancée and I did the same night and confirmed with "Clay." Despite that, we never received the discount. On top of that, we were hit with a surprise $100 fee for having the tax prep fees deducted from our refund -- something we were never informed of. We would've gladly paid upfront had we known. We opted for this route only because we were short on time and were told it would speed things up. The final refund we received was significantly lower than what Clay originally quoted from both state and federal returns. When we asked for an explanation, Clay told us it would cost another $25 just to access an e-doc that didn't even explain the charges -- and the numbers still didn't add up. Clay was also rude and unprofessional when we raised concerns, brushing us off and saying we could use the 10% discount next year. We definitely won't be back next year.
