We were in the area for a work meeting and a search took us to Primecut Taqueria. We were lucky and found street parking close to the restaurant. As we walked towards the front door, we immediately were drawn to the smoky grilled mesquite aroma. The inside feels a little cramped because there were already a few people in line and it was backing up to the salsa bar area. We ordered at the front counter and the menu is pretty simple. Note that there are different prices for the types of meats. I ordered three tacos, with Carne Asada, pork belly, and I think tripas. They come with just tortillas and meat and you can add your own onions and cilantro and any other condiments from the self serve salsa bar. There's a rainbow of colors of different sauces and spice levels. I was glad they also had radish and cucumbers slices, which I love to help cut down the oily grease. I enjoyed the smoky grilled taste of the meats. The pork belly was a little too hard and dry for me though and I won't get that again. My coworkers each ordered the nachos with Carne Asada and Pollo. Had a really disappointing experience here. When we first walked in, I asked where the menu was because I didn't realize it was above the register, and the cashier rudely pointed up instead of simply answering politely. After ordering, another employee brought out tacos that seemed incomplete, so we politely said we didn't think it was our order because it looked like tacos were missing. The cashier stepped in, reread the order, and we realized we were only missing one taco. Since it was our first time here, we didn't know the tacos come plain and you add the condiments yourself on the side. What really bothered me was when she brought the last taco and said, "Oh, and I didn't charge you for this taco, so before you leave stop by the front and pay," with a rude attitude the entire time. Of course we were going to pay for it, but customer service and wording matter. Unfortunately, the tacos themselves were not very memorable either. The whole experience was unpleasant. When we arrived, there weren't a lot of people in the restaurant. We began by ordering several of their prime meat cuts. However after waiting over thirty minutes, the waitress tells us that they are all out of all the prime cuts. Due to the price, they can only replace it with fish which we don't like, but we agreed to. 45 minutes after arriving, we finally got our food and it was just ok. Nothing special, just tacos. Stopped by on a dog walk and was excited to see this place open. I ordered three tacos, fish, rib meat and pork belly. Ate the fish taco first and it was the best. I would not order the other two tacos again. Here you order at the counter and receive a table number for food delivery. You then take your tacos to the salsa bar and add cilantro onions and whatever you want. The person who helped me at the counter was very nice and brought water for my dog. Primecut Taqueria is a new spot on the Center Street Promenade. They had someone right outside charring the meat so the smell draws you inside. The indoor seating is limited but the chairs are very comfortable. Parking is limited on the street but the parking structure has free two hour parking on the ramp leading up to the second floor. I always love a place with a good salsa bar. Their green salsa was really good and the habanero was super spicy! There's a range for everyone. Today I tried the asada burrito bowl. It comes with beans, rice, cheese and onions. The meat was a little chewy for my liking. I thought it had a little too much fat. But that is my personal preference. Decided to stop into Primecut Taqueria with our family randomnly walking through downtown Anaheim. So glad we did because this place seriously surprised us in the best way We ordered two premium tacos with arrachera, costilla, and pork belly, plus a cheese quesadilla for our daughter. The arrachera is their most popular meat and now I understand why. It was super flavorful and tender. Next time we are definitely getting all three tacos with arrachera. The pork belly taco was also really good and rich, but the costilla was my least favorite. The first one I received looked mostly like burnt ends, but they fixed it right away without hesitation and brought me a new one with much more meat. Really appreciated that level of service. And the cheese quesadilla totally caught us off guard. Taco Tuesday is a great deal I went for lunch and the food was fresh, meat was nice and juicy. It's nice that the aguas are $3.50 as well. When I was rung up I was charged full price so I had to go ask for an adjustment. I wish their online menu offered taco Tuesday but the cashier said it was in store and their number listed is for corporate . TL; DR -- worth a try! We will be back This is the newest taco spot on Center Street in Downtown Anaheim, located on the corner that previously housed another taco location. The grill outside is nice touch... fills the air with that char smoky meat smell that makes you hungry once you get a whiff of it. Came here during the soft opening, literally the second day ever. Clean, bright restaurant with both indoor and outdoor seating. You choose what type of dish you want (ie burrito, taco, bowl, etc) and then you choose your meat. There's a tiered system where the more primecut, the higher in price. We tried the tacos - adobada, asada (both lower price point) pork belly, and arrachera (both medium price point). Adobada was flavorful and tender; the arrachera was smoky, charred in the best way. Pork belly was chewy and we were surprised to find that the asada was replaced with chicken lol. We were home before we found this out and decided it was fine since they were the same price. The chicken was so tender. Their tortillas were tasty, soft, and not dry at all. Their salsa bar is decently sized. They were all delicious. I particularly liked the verde and the bright green salsa. My husband liked the orange special sauce. Note that onions and cilantro are at the salsa bar; they don't come automatically on your taco. Service was friendly and while I was there one of the employees was tidying up the salsa bar. After a long day at Universal Studios my husband and I wanted to try this place since we recently saw that it had opened. We had heard it was from the same ownership as Tacos Los Cholos (which we love) so we also had to try this smaller taqueria and if the tacos were just as good. Anyways the customer service was great and the tacos were so freaking delicious! I love me some asada and adobada tacos, always my favorite. It was disappointing to see the reviews other people left because honestly those reviews are trash and people who have no knowledge about Mexican tacos should not even be able to leave their opinions or reviews. I would ignore those reviews and give the spot a try. Yes the place is not that big but are taquerias with real flavor always big? No definitely not. You can really taste the quality and the difference between the different types vs typical asada at other places where it may be tough, chewy, and full of gristle. The tacos were good and they have the grill outside making the meat fresh. The space is a bit of a tight squeeze indoors with outdoor seating on the corner of historic Center St. in Anaheim. The second time we went, we wanted to try a breakfast burrito and it was very good. We got the chorizo and it's pretty big if you want to split it. The last time we went was disappointing, unfortunately and we haven't gone back since. When we came on taco Tuesday, their deals weren't really explained well and it was a little confusing. They were serving aguas and we ordered two. After we were charged, we realized the prices on the menu and on the receipt were different and we had been overcharged for both. Make sure to double check pricing before checkout. The meat we got this time around was a bit chewy and warm (not hot). It was a bit underwhelming and after all was said and done, a pretty expensive meal for what was supposed to be a deal. The salsas were ok and the service was friendly but rushed. It just feels like we could find really good tacos for way cheaper elsewhere. Here the meats prepped on a box charcoal bbq but Taco los cholos has the open range santa maria which offers better over all flavor of the meat. First, if you are charging me $10 for a rib eye taco and ask me how I want my steak (medium rare), don't deliver 4 tacos cooked well done. Zero flavor. The restaurant looks like it has potential, but the experience left a lot to be desired. The food came out quickly, but my tacos were barely warm, closer to room temperature than anything. It felt like the meat had been pre-cooked and sitting under a warmer that clearly wasn't doing its job. Unfortunately, my cousin actually felt sick to her stomach after eating the tacos, which makes me question how the food is being held and whether proper temperature control is being maintained. I understand they appear to have recently opened, but if this isn't their first location, the basics should already be figured out. Opening week hiccups are understandable, but serving lukewarm food and potentially unsafe food, should never be one of them. The layout inside is also extremely tight, which wouldn't necessarily be a problem if the space were managed well. However, what appeared to be the owner or the owner's family were standing directly in the walkway chatting while customers were trying to navigate through the restaurant. In a small space like that, basic awareness of your patrons goes a long way. Another strange detail: samples were being offered to some customers but not others. It wasn't clear what the criteria was, but the inconsistency was noticeable and made the experience feel a bit awkward. Overall, the place has potential, but right now it feels like a restaurant that opened before it was truly ready. Hopefully they tighten up the fundamentals, especially food temperature and customer awareness, because those are the kinds of details that make or break a new spot. The place just opened and I hope they improve because I've eaten there twice and both times I was disappointed. My first time I ordered online and got carne asada fries. The fries are made with too large fries and a small amount of meat, cheese and beans on top. It's packed mostly with fries and beans and for over 18 dollars, it's not worth it. They also ignored half my requests for side items. There's other Mexican places nearby that will provide more for less. The second time I ordered in person and was extremely disappointed to see signs stating their listed menu prices reflect a cash only price. Passing on their operating costs to their customers in an underhanded way is just cheap instead of reflecting it in the stated pricing(and I wonder now what online pricing is compared to in person, there isn't any mention of the pricing discrepancy online.) I ordered 3 "premium" tacos with different cuts and were it not a Taco Tuesday special, it wouldn't be worth it. The tables outside were dusty and had food debris and a homeless man was harassing a couple trying to eat their meal. The staff either paid no mind to people outside or chose to ignore the situation. I got the pork belly taco which is the only one out of the 3 worth mentioning. Size was okay for a Taco Tuesday special but if you're in a lunch rush I would avoid this place. Order took a reasonable amount of time to come out but they only have one station for sauces and toppings so it can take awhile to get them unless you like plain tacos. For a place that just opened up, it's underwhelming. There is 3-4 other Mexican places within walking distance that would be a step up, and an AM/PM right across the street. I wouldn't pay almost 6 dollars for a drink like a Monster when better pricing is close by.
