There are many items that your family and friends will most likely get a kick out of. Most of it is for the female population though (as like most stores). The Plaid Giraffe carries Nine & Co. bags from Nine West, unique scarves, jewelry (wow, do they have jewelry), and other neat gift items. As I made my way through the store recently, one guy was browsing as well and, while his girlfriend paid for her brand new bag at the counter, he was picking up one item after another and saying "How sweet is this?!?" again and again. I have to admit, it was pretty amusing. But then, so is their selection. Among their items that will make you laugh and gasp are barbed wire toilet paper (TP with a barbed wire design on it) and -- get this -- a hair-coloring kit specifically for your "hair down there". I'm dead serious! I had never seen anything like it before. I mean, who does that? Not that I'm judging or anything ... hey, it's something new! But the colors available were electric blue, pink, and orange. Whoa, now there's somethin' freaky going on there! My favorite thing about the Plaid Giraffe though, is their jewelry, which is pretty much the inner half of the shop. They have it all color-coded, so there are your blues, then purples, and black and whites, and so on. Some of it is a little pricey, but it depends on what materials it has, right? I find that most of their earrings start at $9.99 and go up from there. They've also got a wide selection of those neat purse-hanger things that have been popping up everywhere. The idea is that you basically hang part of it on the edge of a table, and it has a hook that your bag can hang from. Your bag won't be on the floor and get dirty, and has its own place. The Plaid Giraffe also carries items that make great traveler gifts, if you are shopping for a globe-trotter. They have typical items like travel pillows, but with and fun designs, so they're not as boring. Anyway, that's just a peek at what they have in store. It's a really nice bag but it's a couple of years old now and the store no longer carries one like it. They have some really nice other bags though but not like my friends so I, personally, wasn't really interested. I did like their cute wallets made from different colored leather with fun designs or patterns on them. They have a lot of accessories. Their whole back half of the store is devoted to accessories. I found some great earrings that I've been looking for at some good prices; one pair was $9.99 and the other pair (a pair of square ones; I actually don't own square shaped earrings!) for $11.99. They have a lot of really nice but not too expensive looking jewelry. Their store is really nice and net with lots of open areas so you can actually breath. The two girls that were working were really nice and super friendly. They let me look around in peace without bugging me or pressuring me to buy something; it was really nice to just to my thing.

I have this really bad habit of buying something every time I go in - but how can I resist such lovely things? You can find purses here at many price points: e.g. Big Buddha (nice vegan bags) starting at around $80-ish, Christopher Kon (a montreal designer) at around $340-ish, as well as Kenneth Cole, Matt by Matt & Nat, etc. Also lots of jewelry at very reasonable prices: e.g. harriet grey, Betsy Johnson, kiko (a local designer). They also carry shoes, but I have yet to purchase those. The girls are very pleasant and friendly - I always enjoy shopping here and have warm fuzzy feelings by the time I leave the store (or it could just be the new purse/necklace/earrings I've just purchased....)

There are so many lovely items for babies including fun baby grows, booties and the best socks that say 'CUTE AF' on them! I wish they were in my size. There is a lot of beautiful jewellery to choose from but the home decor is my favourite section. From cross stitch of star signs to wooden garlands to the biggest selection of air plant terrariums that I have ever seen! I'm kinda obsessed. These ones are only $30 and I actually thought that price was pretty ok. I've seen them some places and they are just totally not worth it. But everything in here was really reasonable. It's the kind of place you could look in five times and see things you never notices the last time you were in. There are so many awesome finds! Stepping into this store just feels instantly relaxing, and unlike any other place in the mall. Everything from stationary (I am in love with the journals they sell) to decorative pillows, air plants to jewelry... This has become the go-to stop for all my gifting needs. Staff here are definitely passionate about the locally made movement, and are often makers themselves. I've found they are always willing to help you out, without being pushy about making sales goals; they want you to leave happy and excited about your purchase and possibly even with the story behind how it was made. The clothes here are gorgeous, with unique details and careful construction. The price is right, too. Even if I'm not in the market for a new garment, I can usually find a gorgeous new bag or jewelry piece. Dainty necklaces, feather earrings, you know the type. Lots of Matt and Nat stocked in here, too. Last time I was in, they were having a sale - bonus! Sales clerk was super friendly and explained the price reductions to me. I honestly make trips to Southgate just to go to Groove Stone. I love that a local business like this is able to make it in a commercially saturated mall. It's so refreshing to see such a unique place here. First off, I'm a sucker for anything Matt & Nat and Groove Stone has an unbeatable selection. It can be tough to find high quality vegan accessories, but at least now I know where to look. I also love how they support Canadian artists and designers. On my last visit I snagged some amazing earrings from Flight Path designs and some really unique pieces that my friends and family are going to love to receive this Christmas. Not only is the merchandise amazing, the staff are all incredibly helpful and friendly. They're always quick to offer suggestions and go out of their way to search for untouched pieces in the backroom so you don't have to buy the floor model. Certainly there are only very few Big & Tall Mens Wear stores in Edmonton (and only two George Richards Big & Tall Mens Wear locations) but this one was most excellent. The entrance is outside the mall (park on the eastern side of Safeway). This location has a lot of different garment options available including more formal wear and more casual options. I would definitely return here with my significant other should we need other similar options in the future.
