Plenty of outdoor seatings
Grace L.

I used to go to the original Prime Pizza location, but this Valley Village spot is so much easier for parking that it's become my go-to. Grabbed a quick takeout order: a slice of the white pizza, a slice of the vodka pizza, and a garlic knot. Both slices were really good, but honestly the garlic knot stole the show. I'd come back just for those. Same Prime Pizza I know and love, minus the parking hunt. Next time I'm ordering a bag of garlic knots.

White pizza and Vodka pizza

I ordered the following through their app to take out... Vodka pizza slice: Good White pizza slice: Good Bolognese pasta: Very good The app told me the food would be ready in about 45 minutes, so I went a few minutes earlier. My pasta was ready, but my pizza slices were not. I was a bit disappointed the pizzas were lukewarm when I got to my friend's home who lives nearby. They had a lot of customers picking up orders and a lot of workers there on a Saturday night, but they seemed a little disorganized to me. They only have outdoor seating with a giant screen tv and one unisex bathroom.

(Tookout 05/30/26 SA @ 11:00am): It was prime time for their pizza during this grand opening event! Valley Village welcomed Prime Pizza's newest location with a celebration, and the crowd came out in support. I was familiar with their original Fairfax location because of various production work in the area when their food was catered in. Founded in 2014 by Zak Fishman and James Starr for the purpose of bringing authentic 20" New York-style pizza to Southern California, they were known for their large foldable slices and square "Grandma pies" while they pride themselves on fresh dough, Grande cheese, and Stanislaus tomatoes. With hot subs, baked pasta, salads, and garlic knots, a full meal could be had. Was their pizza ready for prime time in the San Fernando Valley where there already was a glut of parlors!? PURCHASE(S) 18" Cheese Pizza Slice (COMP): Made with tomato sauce, mozzarella cheese, and extra virgin olive oil (EVOO), the thin crust was slightly crunchy with a light layer of sauce and somewhat chewy stretchy cheese, it was piping hot, delicious, and went down easily - yummy! Garlic Knot (COMP): Brooklyn-style garlic goodness served with marinara sauce, I loved these bready garlicky puffy treats that I always had to order if I saw them on the menu. Thankfully, we got one for free, and it was lovingly loaded with dripping garlic bits and oil, pesto, and parmesan - awesome! https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw&start=48&select=qszk381ipLzMAmJjdu7ZwA Sicilian Square Slice ($3.00; Reg. $5.25). Made with mozzarella cheese, ricotta cheese, pesto, and crushed tomatoes, this was hot with a somewhat airy lightly burned crunchy semi-thick crust and flavorful plentiful toppings, this was a delicious Detroit-style pizza! Spicy Pepperoni Square Slice ($3.00; Reg. $5.75): Made with mozzarella cheese, spicy tomato sauce, pepperoni, calabrian chili, and parmesan cheese, this was equally hot with a similar crust plus a ton of spicy pepperonis in every bite - wonderful! https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw&start=24&select=qq20c6w73Ex9UUY3T7g9CQ 6pc Buffalo Wings w/Ranch Dipping Sauce ($13.00): Six fried wings tossed in a medium spicy Buffalo sauce with your choice of ranch or bleu cheese on the side, these were on the smaller size, minimal meat, and a touch of crispiness, I was a bit disappointed at about $2.00/piece. https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw&start=24&select=GKOxfUQWLU3CANoa0lsIdg SERVICE A large jovial team was out walking the long line, handed out food samples, answered any questions, assisted the handful of vendor booths, and excitedly worked inside as they took food orders, etc. It was an exciting festive time and everyone was all hands on deck - congratulations! PARKING (FREE) Their private sizable lot was used for grand opening activities https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw&start=24&select=5tJZMGmu2RNFmb7GCvKXXA but definitely had ample space any other day. Otherwise, there were plenty of timed spots along the main drag of Whitsett Ave. and all surrounding residential streets (I parked about a five minute walk away), so make sure to read all posted signs carefully - 'nuff saud. ATMOSPHERE, DÉCOR, AMBIENCE A simple layout of an order counter, a couple pizza display cases, framed sports pictures on the wall, and an easily legible menu up on the wall behind the counter while a covered outdoor patio with sufficient communal bench seating. Plenty of natural lighting entered through the front doors and the outdoor patio while various electric ceiling and sting lights filled in the rest. There were no TVs while for the event there was a DJ https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw&start=48&select=gcMy5O20GFAJpqW-QT9QkQ spinning the tunes. https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw&start=48&select=88jhU-58721ZCLNs2FfgdA ATTIRE Totally casual, so I would normally be in a t-shirt, boardshorts, and flip-flops. OVERALL I wish all the best for Prime Pizza's Valley Village location. There's plenty of competition in the area (Jo Peep's NY Pizza was right across the street and has been in the neighborhood since 1975), so as long as they can differentiate themselves, they should be fine. I enjoyed the pizza and garlic knot, but I'd pass on the wings next time. The menu was limited to some creative pies and accompanying items to round out a meal. The prices were relatively comparable ($28-$32/pie). And, the service was easy, quick, and straightforward. I found very good value based on the prices, service, and experience noted above (TOTAL paid experience was around $26.00 BEFORE any discounts/tip). And, they accepted my credit card of choice... AMEX! 4.0 STARS

Square pepperonis and Sicilian pizza and bbq chicken slice
Ves S.

We were in the area shopping and saw this place is now open! There was a steady stream of people just coming for pick up pizza on a weekday evening. We got some slices. The square slices were pretty tasty: we got pepperoni and Sicilian and they had the right amount of sauce:cheese:toppings. Plenty of outdoor seating and parking.

Caesar Salad....
Marta H.

Decided to stop here for lunch, as it's new & I am always seeing people sitting on their patio. The staff was great & didn't push us to order while we decided. We finally ordered 1 pizza, 1 gluten free pizza & 1 Caesar salad - which set us back about $80 - already a little sticker shock. They don't have varied sizes of pizza, which we are used to, so don't expect to order a small or medium. They do, however offer slices, unless you want gluten free, then you have to get a whole pie. They have thin crust & "Brooklyn" square thick crust, which is absolutely NOT a crispy crust true Brooklyn pie...... I would not bother with a salad here again. A little pricey for something that looks like it came from the prepared food fridge at the local supermarket; however the lettuce was crispy & the dressing was decent. The flavor of the pizza is decent, not the best but certainly not the worst we've had. Tomato sauce was a little flavorless & while the gluten free crust was great while it was hot, when it started to cool it did get a little gummy. They have sandwiches, pasta, salad, wings & sides on their menu as well, but we didn't try any of them. Glad we tried it, but there are so many better pizza places in the valley, in my opinion.

Drove by and stopped by for lunch at this fairly new location. Private parking lot is great for me. Son ordered 2 slices of cheese and I ordered 1 slice of Spicy Pepperoni and 1 slice of Sicilian. Overall the food is good. Good atmosphere and customer service. Nice location for an outdoor eating with friends or family. No inside seating. Only outdoor seating. I was outside and slice was slightly cold. They gave me an additional hot slice. Thank you! Cheers!~

I first became familiar with Prime Pizza through their Burbank location and recently had the chance to try them again at Pizza City Fest, which reminded me why they have such a strong following throughout Southern California. Prime Pizza was founded in 2014 by Zak Fishman and James Starr and has built a reputation for serving authentic New York-style pizza with a California twist. Their dough is made with a blend of all-purpose and 00 flour and fermented for 48 hours, creating the perfect balance of a crispy yet foldable crust. They also use high-quality ingredients, including Grande mozzarella from Wisconsin and California-grown tomatoes. In addition to their classic round pies, they offer Sicilian and Grandma-style square pizzas, as well as gluten-free and vegan options. For this visit, I kept it simple and ordered a New York-style cheese slice. The slice was excellent; crispy on the bottom, flavorful, and exactly what you would want from a classic NY slice. I also ordered the garlic knots, which were absolutely heavenly. Soft, buttery, and packed with garlic flavor. They were easily one of the highlights of the meal. This location does not offer indoor seating, but there is a pleasant outdoor patio with about 10 tables available. Parking is also very convenient, with a dedicated lot and plenty of nearby residential street parking. Prime Pizza is definitely worth checking out.

Prime Pizza opening in Valley Village is the best thing that's happened to our neighborhood since Vanderpump Rules. Yesterday was the grand opening in the old space where Pizza Hut used to be and this is a BIG upgrade. This location is at the corner of Whitsett Ave and Magnolia Blvd with a small parking lot and an outside dining patio. Prime Pizza does New York style pies (round and square) , subs, and pastas. You can also buy pizza by the slice and the pizza here is high quality. For their first day of business, they were expectedly busy but the customer service remained stellar. Having Prime Pizza in the neighborhood will hopefully help out our small businesses next door and across the street.

The staff here was incredibly accommodating and kind. Ordered online three pies the night before my World Cup party. Needed them at 11am and Prime Pizza had them ready for pickup, on time, the next day. The tomato pie, meat Sicilian, and the well-done cheese were all fresh and delicious!! This place is the bomb. Great pizza, great service!!

Spicy Pepperoni
Jesus B.

Tried this place for the first time and loved everything, pizza, salad and even the cinnamon churro they have for dessert. Here's my only complain... Parking. How am I supposed to park there when it's filled with Uber Eats, Door Dash and other food delivery drivers taking all the parking spots? All they do is hang out in groups waiting for notifications of a delivery. Please do something about this.

I had a great experience with this restaurant and wanted to recognize the outstanding customer service. Our order was missing two orders of wings, which was obviously disappointing, but when I called, Sarah went above and beyond to make it right. Sarah was professional, understanding, and genuinely cared about resolving the issue. She handled everything quickly and with such a positive attitude that it completely turned the experience around. Mistakes can happen anywhere, but excellent customer service like this is rare. Thank you, Sarah, for your kindness and professionalism. It was honestly some of the best customer service I've ever received, and because of that, I'll definitely be ordering from here again!

We ordered a decent amount to give it a fair shot: Caesar Salad: Pretty basic. Dressing tasted almost store-bought. It was fine, but nothing I'd order again. Pepperoni Calzone: Loved that they don't cut it, it stayed super hot, and the marinara came hot too. Hubby said the flavor was really good, BUT there was just way too much dough. The filling didn't go end-to-end, so you're left 1/3 of the entire calzone more like a loaf of bread. Not a ton of toppings inside, pepperoni or cheese, for the size. Pepperoni Pizza: Came out piping hot and had good flavor, but again, the crust was a little too chewy for us. Did appreciate the generous amount of pepperoni on top. Margherita Pizza: GARLIC! Definitely not shy with it. Big tomato slices and huge basil leaves. The outer crust was actually cooked perfectly, but the center was almost undercooked and definitely not crispy. For a $100 takeout order, I was hoping to be a little more impressed. Nothing was terrible, and there were definitely some good flavors, but overall it just didn't quite hit. That said, I think there's potential here, so we'll give them another shot. Maybe next time will bump them up a star!

It was recommended to my husband and me by a friend and we happened to be in the area and hungry so decided to stop in. They do pizza by the slice and had quite a few options available when we were there. I got two cheese ($3.75 each) and my husband had the pesto chicken (around $5). I also got a side of marinara for crust-dipping for $.75. Despite heavy foot traffic our slices were out quickly and tasted hot and fresh. There is some (very limited) seating inside which we snagged. Atmosphere is very no frills & old school which I didn't mind and actually would prefer to a more "new school"/hip spot. Was it the best pizza I've ever had? No. But it was a very good rendition of NY pizza in a city whose pizza scene is (dare I say it) lackluster. The crust could be improved but the sauce was great and the ratios were spot on. It was filling without being heavy which I appreciated. And the prices are extremely fair. I'm already planning a return which is always a good sign in my book. Pizza Wagon definitely has my seal of approval.

Thin crust that is very flavorful, good sauce, not too much cheese, just enough, not that deep dish stuff that midwestern people think is pizza but is something else entirely. When I first moved here, you could not get the real deal, it was disappointing. Then the grandson of Regina's Pizza in the north End opened up the Pizza Connection is Canoga Park and it was really good. He opened a bunch of other locations but over time, not sure why, the pizza just wasn't as good. My child Emily Asher Kellis disagrees, still loves it, but she was born and raised in the San Fernando Valley, so what does she really know about pizza. After trying a bunch of different "New York City" pizza joints that were just ok, we found Santino's NY Pizza in Sherman Oaks and were very happy with it, authentic East Coast pizza. Well last week I discovered they went out of business. Oh no, what were we going to do? So I researched and found there was a place in Sherman Oaks called The Pizza Wagon of Brooklyn, only two locations, here and in Brooklyn and people said it was the real deal. Tonight we tried it, and you know what, it might just be even better. Santino's sauce had a slight sweetness to it that we liked that this doesn't but the sauce is good, and the crust is even more flavorful and they are a bit more liberal with the olive oil usage, which true East Coasters love while I am told that most health conscious Southern Californians do not. Anyway, we are quite happy that we can continue to get our pizza craving satisfied when we just gotta have some slices.

We received our pasta and finished it long before our pizzas ever showed up. Every interaction we had with the staff felt frantic. You can get the 5,969 Calorie pizza (and you should), which will be a mess to eat (prepare for and embrace it), with so many toppings a field of onions was literally emptied so they could sit on top of your pizza. It's the thing that sets them apart from every other NY slice in the city. If it's too thick for you, go for the Blue Collar...a more traditional thin NY pie / slice that has all the right sauce, cheese, and crust flavors and texture. As I mentioned, the L.A. pizza renaissance is here, and you can get truly fantastic thin and crispy NY style slices all over the city. Truthfully, many of those have upped the ante on the Blue Collar...BUT the Blue Collar is still really good and still gives you a truly legitimate NYC slice experience. So I talked to the guy managing or running the store and he wouldn't just admit that they screwed it up. He was trying to act like I didn't order it. Haha. So I showed him my phone with their phone number from the last hour and he still wouldn't apologize or take responsibility. He said we wouldn't have done that we like all business. What a jackass. Like what angle am I playing here jabroni. I am literally here to pay for a pizza I ordered. And I am showing your number on my phone. What did I take the time to call your restaurant and talk to somebody for two minutes about politics or the weather and not order anything, then randomly just show up later looking to pay for pizza. Just say sorry we screwed it up. I wouldn't have even cared that much if he just made some sort of effort or apology and been like I am sorry about that. Instead of apologizing he thought it would be a better strategy to try to Jedi mind trick the customer into believing I didn't just call and order a pizza from them. This is a couple years ago but still pisses me off when I drive by their store. Annoying enough for me to get on yelp for my first review. I haven't been back.
