The receptionist has no compassion. Because of her, this group will be losing a newborn as a patient. I DO NOT recommend this office at all!

Dr. Tsao is a godsend; as good as it gets, and as good as the five-star reviews say. She is one of…read morethe most professional, knowledgeable and caring physicians I have ever encountered. She truly cares about her patients, really makes you feel comfortable, does not rush you, listens sympathetically and patiently as you explain your situation, and answers your questions clearly and completely. She has a great breadth of knowledge about the latest developments in medicine; she is practical and pragmatic in her approach to diagnosis and treatment, orders lab tests as needed, and follows up with you to ensure your treatment plan is working and to modify it as appropriate. As for the office staff, I find them to be committed to being professional, friendly, accommodating, and sensitive to the needs of patients. Scheduling appointments, waiting times, billing, and returning phone calls have not been problems for me. Recently, I needed some medical supplies rushed to me. The office was closed during the lunch hour for a special training session, but a staff member listened patiently to my request and followed up promptly by expediting a prescription to the Costco Pharmacy, which was filled and available for pickup a short time later.

I am a little surprised to see some of the reviews here. I have been using Alameda family…read morePhysicians for decades and have literally never had a problem. In addition, I love their alliance with Stanford Health. Stanford has many locations with high tech equipment for all sorts of specialties. I have always received competent and helpful assistance when scheduling an appointment and have always been cheerfully met at the reception desk. Best if all is my Physician, Dr. John Carper. I have been with him for over 30 years. He is on-time, thorough, patient and a great listener. I am never rushed with him. In addition, I appreciate the detailed discussions about lab followups and his expert advice. My last visit, I was actually taken to the exam room 10 minutes early! With Alameda Family Physicians and Stanford, my health is closely tracked and well documented. I feel like everything is being done to monitor changes in health due to age and corrective actions are being made to keep my body in check. In my opinion, Alameda Family Physicians is stellar with preventative care!

She indignantly told me HOW DARE I EXPECT TO BEE SEEN and sent me away. HEY JERK! How about all those times I had to wait way beyond that for YOU?!! How about the time you told me my doctor had' retired' when, in fact, she left and started her own practice? You then gave me a new doctor who went out on Maternity leave and no one could see me? I have been coming here since my late doctor started this practice 20 years ago. Once they were affiliated with Stanford, they went downhill. I will look for a new doctor.

He is an excellent diagnostician, who is honest - sometimes "brutally" honest - and has my best interests at heart. He is quick to refill my prescription and moved it to Costco to save me money. I love his big offices on the top of the Old Building at AH - very retro/nostalgic - all clean and white. And Heidi is the coolest Medical Office Coordinator. If you want good treatment, honest opinions at a fair price, Dr. Belk is the one to see.

I recommend Dr. Belk with some caution: If you like warm and fuzzy doctors, this is NOT the doctor…read moreto see. If you like doctors who are intelligent--even sharp--rather stoic, has your best in mind, yet isn't trying to win any personality contests, well Dr. Belk is the ONE. One star is for his intelligence and straightforwardness, which can be hard but he tells it like he sees it with no wide smiles only slight smurks.. Second star is because, unlike the routine at Alameda Family Physicians---and big reason why I like him--Dr. Belk is saving me hundreds of dollars by referring me to a cheaper pharmacy and filling my routine prescriptions for a longer period without unnecessary additional visits like Alameda Family Physicians required of me. Kudos to Dr. Belk on this one!. 3rd star is because he switched me to a better, more efficient medication than the practitioners at Alameda Family Physicians did--and again, for less cost to me (I am a cash pay) patient and I already feel better with this medication change than I have in 5 years! Thumbs up to Dr. Belk on this one! 4th star is because his brusk, dry, sarcastic humor along with the unhappy look that is practically glued to his face--still made me laugh although I don't prefer this style of comedy on a regular basis. Thanks for the efforts at comedy, Dr. Belk! 5th star I took away only because he isn't charming like James Bond. He has absolutely NO bedside manner, which I think is important for doctors to have--although I would prefer competence over charm in my doctor. After all, he is a doctor not a gigolo, right? I prefer a little warmth or a genuine, caring laugh and perhaps some reflective listening or at the very least some hint of compassion when I don't see eye to eye with him...attempting to humor me if he doesn't agree with me a little, would help greatly---but he won't do that. He sticks to his guns, like it or not---no niceties there. Summary: Doctor Belk has saved me money and gave me more effective medications than my last doctor did--so I consider him a very competent doctor. If he had a more delightful, compassionate charming personality----he'd be just about a perfect five star doctor, but because he's not trying to win any personality contests--he gets 4 stars. I recommend him if you have anti-social punk rocker / goth friends and ENJOY the ones who don't smile or hug the best.

The office is very clean and has beautiful views. She has great availability and good investigative processes to find solutions to complex medical issues which is important as we are all different and issues aren't always what they seem. Dr. Fredian personally has found and provided successful treatments for issues where other providers were at a loss. She has been a life saver and I am so grateful to have such a wonderful primary physician who has a true passion for medicine and her patients. I highly recommend her for services and will stay a patient for my years to come.

I rarely if ever leave bad reviews, but this one was very serious for me. I called Dr Fredian twice to try to book an appointment. She blew me off and sent me to her online patient portal, which did not work. I called to explain that the online system did not work, and she told me to email her. She still would not just take a single moment to make me an appointment herself. I then followed her instructions and emailed her to try to set up an appointment, and she never responded. So I emailed one more time. By the 4th time I reached out, I asked her to please really take me seriously because I was experiencing symptoms that gave me some small discomforts and concern, and I truly felt I needed a doctor, but not an ER. Her response was to call my voicemail and yell at me in my voicemail to just go to Urgent Care and tell me that my email asking for her to please take me seriously was "inappropriate." When I called back and tried to explain that I was not in need of urgent care, but just in need of a regular doctor's appointment, and that urgent care would not be helpful since I did not even have a regular doctor that I could list as my primary doctor, nor had I even seen a doctor at all for a basic visit, she told me that my phone call was "wasting valuable time" she could be spending with her patients. I was pretty shocked to hear that, but tried one more time to explain that I just really wanted to become one of those "valuable patients." I guess I'm only "valuable" if I am already paying into her pocket? When I tried to explain that all I was trying to do was become a patient because she had come well-recommended, and that I was finding it frustrating to try to access her services using the online modality, she hung up on me. What kind of doctor blows off and hangs up on a sick person who is just trying to get an appointment?

He follows up on necessary tests if I am tardy on it, such as colonoscopies. He referred me to an orthopedic surgeon to check on shoulder if there was an internal issue. Janet and Cheryl at the front desk have been friendly and helpful as well. Glad to have made Dr. Kong my primary doctor and hope to have him caring for me for the coming years.
