Made an appt for pain related to a car accident (car insurance no longer paying - limits reached), got there about 5 mins late. Filled out paperwork then get told it's 'office policy' that I pay up front for the visit and they won't bill my medical insurance due to it being accident related - they require 'proof' of my accident claim no longer paying for medical. I asked they see me for something else unrelated and they asked me to sit and wait. About 10 minutes later they call me up and tell me they can no longer see me because it was now a half hour after my appt time and I was late. Wasted my time and didn't even get to be seen...this office is horrible and doesn't care about a person's well-being as they could see I was visibly in pain yet still gave me the runaround. I guess you have to be healthy and have no prior problems to be seen by this office since they're too lazy to deal with billing an insurance company. read more

My wife and have have been seeing Dr. Stephen Hillis for 10 plus years. He is a great and caring physician. He has fantastic bedside/office manners. He always makes you feel your health is his top concern. I've heard like positive friends that also see him. After more urgent events, he made it a point to call us at home to see how we are doing. The people are wonderful. The business, however, is poorly run (in fairness, this is true of US healthcare, in general). When I call, the phone message always reports an "unforeseen" high volume of calls and a long wait follows. I find the pretense that this understaffing isn't planned adds insult to injury. The online patient portal apparently requires a different account for each person in the same family (ex. four accounts/logins for a family of four)--or that's what mine defaulted to and neither front desk staff nor online customer service know what to do about it. The software this system runs is terrible. It lacks menu options for selecting some major categories of ailments (tells to you to call--long waits--instead). The scheduling system makes you guess dates until one is available, either that or I couldn't figure it out, and it shouldn't be hard to figure out. The one time I wrote the business office with a question, I received no reply. 5 stars for the people meeting with the public; 1 star for the business model behind the scenes. I stick with them because I love my doctor, but after eight years, they show no signs of any will to improve. read more

Dr. Bateman is an awesome doctor. I believe he is also the owner. But if I am incorrect, I will stand corrected. To run a successful business, clientele is needed for the business to stand. Having public relations is a must, especially the staff that is working for the owner. I am sure that if I had this business I would definitely have my front desk well educated in how to handle the public in a respectful manner. I would also have my managers well versed in communicating with the clientele as well as having control over their employees when needs be. I can go to another doctor, but I feel that people should be informed about the staff if they choose to frequent this establishment. First Interaction: I called to make an appointment and spoke with a lady over the phone. When I begun to speak she would talk over me. I felt that she having a bad day, so I finished setting up the appointment. When I arrived at my appointment the lady at the front desk was rude and short with me. Again, thought that she was having a bad day. Second Interaction: Called to make another appointment, the lady that answered the phone was very short with me, talking over my voice when I would try to explain the problem. I felt like I was not valued as a patient. So, I responded very directly and to the point. She begun to argue with me, like I was again a burden to her. Third Interaction: Called to have my appointment rescheduled, different lady over the phone. Snow has me trapped in North Bend, was unable to come home for 4 days. No problem. Didn't get charged for calling in 30 minutes before my appointment. Fourth Interaction: Had to reschedule again. Called to reschedule, the lady that I have been having an issue with answers the phone. I tell her that I need to reschedule my appointment again. She asked my name, I told her. Asked what time my appointment was, I told her. She was very blunt and rude. Thought maybe she is having another bad. She responds with goodbye. I spoke up to remind her that I wanted to reschedule. She then responded with a rude "What", So I responded that I wanted to reschedule my appointment. She gave a huge sigh, I felt like I was being a burden to her, so I responded with, never mind. As I begun to speak, she started arguing with me over the phone, talking over me. I then responded with it is apparent that you don't want to help me, so, I will call later and reschedule if this is such a problem. Her response was "Whatever" and she hung up the phone. I called the following day, asked to speak with a supervisor, or where I could be referred to make a formal complaint about this employee. When the supervisor arrived on the phone, I explained my situation. I was charged for a no show in the amount of $116.00. But, what is frustrating is that I tried to reschedule, but the person that I spoke with was rude and I don't feel that it is fair that I am being charged for dealing with someone who does not have good communication skills. I understand that in the Primary Care Northwest Financial Policy it states the rules that apply for appointments, and missed appointments. The supervisor begun to argue with me. When I would speak she would speak over me. So I let her finish what she had to say. I also responded with, "I don't like being spoken over, and argued with. And your doing this to me like your not concerned about my problem. You are not hearing me. You are condoning this behavior for your employees and it is very unprofessional. I will not pay this bill if you are not willing to hear me out." Her response was that the bill stands because you were a no show. But I did call into reschedule. Doesn't matter. However, she responded that she will do nothing about this situation. I checked my mail today and received a letter stating that they do not want my patronage at their establishment. I am okay with this. But I feel that people should be careful if they choose to frequent this establishment. Their verbal, and physical interaction at the front desk with patients is as if they don't care about your problem. Your a burden to their job. It is a shame that people like this are working for good owners. It is embarrassing to see people like this are ruining good businesses. read more

My wife scheduled us appointments to get our physicals since our insurance was changing. I ended up looking this place up well after that and was concerned by the low star rating. I have read through the ratings and will say I don't know what people are talking about. My experience was great. The nurse that helped me was extremely friendly and helpful. The front desk people were fine, not bubbly but efficient and helpful. The doctor was great. He was very talkative and friendly. Honestly I would go back to this place again. In fact I will need to at some point to knock out my blood work. It was a great experience and I will go back. I hope the low star rating doesn't keep people away. read more

I can't imagine a worse medical facility. Don't get me wrong, the doctors are good, but the rest of the staff is a piss poor excuse for Healthcare providers. They never return my calls or the call of my other doctors. Take today for instance. I waited for my doctor to return a phone call to my pharamacy, in order for me to pick up my prescription. After waiting as long as I can I finally call my doctor to see what's up. They put me on hold for ten minutes, just long enough for the office to close. I have been throwing up for three days and haven't slept in four. Youd think things like that might matter to a doctor? Well you couldn't be more wrong. Now I have to return home with no medicine, and I'm sad to say my car won't be able to make it back to the pharmacy, so who knows when I'll get meds, if I ever do. There have been reviews that talk about the office staff and how they are rude. With that said, I just called them this morning and the front desk person was pretty nice. They are not accepting new patients though, unfortunately. :( I am still looking for a good doctor in the Federal Way/ Tacoma area. I have to say reading all the reviews has me baffled. All my experiences have been amazing there. I love my NP sydni wright. I don't want anyone else seeing me. She listens and she is caring and very thorough. Her nurse or medical assist is not the friendliest but I only deal with her for a few minutes. As a health professional, I strongly do not recommend this clinic. The front desk staff members are incompetent and rude, and their billing policies are unethical. I've had a horrible time trying to set up a new patient consultation and have spoken with multiple front desk and billing department staff who clearly do not care about their patients nor professionalism. After nearly 4 months of back and forth with their staff, I've given up and decided to find a different primary care provider. Dealing with such awful people is not worth it. read more

I recently got my income tax back and thought this would be a good time to visit the doctor because I hadn't seen one in 3 years. When I arrived I spoke of some concerns I had. They did not a certain machine in the office to check on something the doctor wanted, so I was wheeled across the street to the emergency room where I sat for several hours and they found nothing wrong. I was then called later at work to reschedule or call the office. I called the office on my day off and explained I now cant afford to come in because of the emergency room bill unless there was something they didn't tell me at the hospital. The young lady said well that's your choice, giggled and then said have a good day. I broke down and cried at the indifference. It is going to take me a year to pay for this and the utter lack of empathy and total indifference I experienced is appalling.......I feel violated.... read more

Dr. Hillis has been my and my husband's primary care physician for over 10 years. He has been great. He takes his time with you, and listens to and addresses any and all concerns. I would recommend him to anyone. He will continue searching until he has found a diagnosis or a solution to your health issues. Great doctor. read more

I love this doctors office and drive from north Tacoma to get there. Dr Henderson was my first doctor and I absolutely loved her. She was so thorough and sweet. When she left I inherited dr chamberlain. She is also extremely amazing. Every need I have , I go in and get blood results/any follow up within the first 2 days. I like this place. I like it a lot. My partner and I just moved here (well, about five months ago) from Decatur, GA and have been amazed at the friendliness and professionalism of the receptionists, the lab tech, the nurses, and our new doctor, Gia Hemmen. She totally rocks! From making appointments, to getting them to call our long list of medications into the local pharmacy and RightSource, Humana's mail order pharmacy, we haven't had any major problems. My health is bad. My partner is slightly healthier than I am but not much. We need caring, understanding folks to help us get the best care. We were NOT getting that from some of the doctors we were seeing in Atlanta, GA. Here, though, WOW! Dr. Gia Hemmen is a very thorough, compassionate, caring physician and we actually look forward to going to see her instead of dreading appointments. read more

My nurse practioner left this practice. I got no notification from this clinic stating she left. The reason I found out was because I was in need of seeing my NP for changes in my health and a refill. Primary Care Northwest said it was the NP responsibility to inform me of the change. PCN said I need to call the new clinic where I would need to become a brand, new patient and would require an appointment to get a prescription refilled. Where's the continuity of care? PCN should be forwarding my health information to make the ease with changing clinics more duable versus being unknown at a new clinic. This experience has impacted my access to care and decreased the qualtiy of care I was receiving. read more

I would prefer to give negative stars. My mother saw Dr. McBride when she suffered a sudden hearing loss. He sent her home with some nasal spray. Two and a half weeks later, with no improvement, she tried to get into a specialist. Not without a referral from her primary care physician. She called Primary Care Northwest again. Dr. McBride not available, so she was able to see a different doctor in two days. He told her she just needed hearing aids, but was able to give her the referral she had requested. She was able to see the ENT doc the next day who told her a sudden hearing loss is an emergency situation that can be helped if treated immediately, or within two weeks at the outside. Thanks to Dr. McBride, she will most likely lose hearing in that ear, and we're hoping it wasn't caused by a stroke or tumor. Shame on all of you!!! read more

This office gets one star for many reasons. First, the office staff is ridiculously unfriendly and rude. I have been here about 4 times, and not once have they been even the slightest bit courteous. They talk down to the patients, ignore you, and are just extremely rude. Secondly, of the times I have been there, two of the times I was not seen because the doctor was running more then an hour behind. When I asked about he reason, the front desk just acted like I was inconveniencing them and gave me no timeline. I didn't switch because it's a hassle to change doctors, but I will not be returning as of my last time. read more

The staff answering the phones are not nice at all. I called to see if i could set up being a new patient and she said in a rude way nope can't happen we are not accepting new patients. While the Dr.s here may be awesome (I was very satisfied with the care Dr. Demirjian provided), the office staff should be replaced. I made an appointment two months ago. My appointment day arrived and so did I at this office only to be told I did not have an appointment on that date but not at all. I replied with 'so what I'm hearing is I need to find another doctor' and the person whom I was talking to said nothing at all. What kind of customer service is that?! I would like to start by saying that the only reason that I go to this doctors office is because I think that Dr. Hillis is a great doctor, if you can get in to see him. Everytime I call to schedule an appt there are no openings for months! I called once to make an appt for a lump on my face ( which i view as pretty urgent) and was told it was going to be a week and a half before I could see anyone! The same thing has happened to me when I was sick, If i am sick I need to see the Dr. now not in two weeks!! It sucks that they have excepted to many patients and so there patients do not get the attention they deserve. My most recent expereience I had an appt at 4 PM ( with a nurse since dr hillis was two months out might I add ) and did not get called back until 5 PM and was not out of the office till 6 PM!! whats the point of having an appt if you are not going to call me back for an hour! Then I was told to follow up in three weeks , so I can get a prescription for my meds that will be out by then and guess what?! there are no openings , how surprising. It sad to see a good Dr. loose patients because of the way the office is failing to run properly. I will be searching for a smaller dr. office that can see me in a timely manner and who's office staff treat you like they care! read more
