UVA collections say the will call you back in 24 to 48 hours. Frequently it was longer. I left instructions on the voicemail multiple times that I worked nights and could not be reached until after 3pm. They would call at 10:30. Over 100 phone calls resulted in them telling me the insurance was billed correctly (no it was not). one of the reps asked me to send the secondary insurance to HIS PERSONAL EMAIL!!! That is a HIPAA violation. By the time they finally got the secondary information they did not have time to bill it correctly. The wrote it off and sent it to a bill collect despite my efforts. now let me tell you that i went in and had little issues initially with the practitioners. They sent me for test THAT THEY NEVER COMPLETED THE FOLLOW UP despite multiple calls From me. My wife and daughter went in. They were treated very differently. Basically they were not listened to and talked over. The practitioner there also started spouting off religious view points on stuff that was neither asked for nor relevant to the issue. we will never be returning to this or anything else run by UVA.

While I love, love, love Lindsey Cotten as my provider, she is attentive, nice, makes me feel comfortable, and she cares. BUT, the process of getting medication refills at this place is a nightmare. They expect you to make a follow-up appt after EVERY lab test, even routine tests like for me, my thyroid and iron levels, (which I do every 6 months) before they will refill your medications. Even if everything is normal and even if I have been dealing with thyroid issues all my life. Lab results automatically release to the patient portal which is great, and many people can easily interpret the results without needing a follow-up especially if they are dealing with something they have dealt with for many, many years, and also if they also work in the medical field. But, this place almost forces follow-ups on you with a ton of calls and messages about lab results being in and NEEDING to come in to discuss. My biggest annoyance is if something like my iron or vitamin D is low, I don't need to take time out of my day and work to come in for an appointment so I can be told to take a supplement. That is something that can be told over the phone. I totally understand needing a follow up for an abnormal test of sensitive or urgent matter or if patients REQUEST one because they dont understand how to read blood work, but never have I needed to make so many appts for basic things like iron and vitamin D or to get refills of medications I have been on for decades. This facility would be so much better if they valued patients time more and just said, here is a 6 month refill of your meds, we will do labs in 6 months again and if everything looks good, will give you another 6 month refill. Every other place I visit does it this way. Also, if it is something that is an easy fix, tell us on the phone!!!! "Hey, your vitamin D came back low, go get a supplement of vitamin D at the store, we recommend this brand, and we will recheck levels in 2 months." Done, easy, no appt needed, and opens up more appointment availability for real needs. I am really hoping they change this way of doing things and soon because again, I love my provider there, but I am already close to finding another office to go to based on their crazy way of doing things.
