Dress

I can not say enough about these talented folks. They did an amazing job on my wedding dress and were so helpful with design decisions. Thank you so much P & P!

Katie H.

Courtney and the talented team at Prim & Perverse altered my wedding dress to perfection for my big day. Courtney excels at giving honest and realistic feedback. Also very grateful for her advice on how to transport the dress safely across the country. Thanks for being a wedding dress alteration wizard and emotional support person, Courtney!

Courtney was the perfect seamstress for my wedding dress, and I could not have been happier with the results. She has an eye for detail, and even called me back to do an additional fitting when she decided she might want to adjust the train and bustle based on a pattern she identified (with my input/feedback). My dress was heavily beaded which was not an issue for Courtney, and fit perfectly on my wedding day. Other seamstresses were rude and turned me away and Courtney reassured me we would be okay with timing and was very generous with adding me onto her already busy client roster. If you want a dependable, detail-oriented and talented tailor for your wedding alterations then pick Courtney!

Stunning train.

Courtney is a queen. She is THE queen. Of all of the stress of wedding planning, working with Courtney was a bright spot - FUN, hilarious, transparent, delightful, natural. I have never felt so confident in my own skin, so beautiful, so comfortable, and radiant. I HATED my dress until Courtney revived it. She brought it to life, she brought me to life.

Real talk: my dress was wayyyy too big when it first arrived. I couldn't have walked down the aisle in it if my life had depended on it. I'm pretty sure Courtney had to take apart more seams on this dress than she left alone, but oh did she work a miracle (four fittings later!)! My dress is a crepe Theia sheath with an illusion back, and she made it fit perfectly! Courtney is so down to earth and easy to talk to and honestly, I miss our once-monthly fittings. I'm so happy for her new studio space and can't wait to see her business continue to grow - I am so happy I reached out to Courtney (at the referral of both BHLDN and Lovely Bride Philly, who graciously helped me find an alterer even though I bought my dress in another state!). Definitely one of my vendor team VIPs. Strongly recommend reaching out to her before anyone else to take care of your alterations. I cannot say enough good things about her. I felt so confident on my wedding day and got a million complements on my dress. I'll say it -- I feel bad for you if you're using anyone else for your wedding dress alterations! Final note: My bustle looked amazing and didn't break even though the crepe fabric was super heavy. You owe it to yourself to invest in a good alterer who can make your bustle look artistic and not like an afterthought, and who makes it strong enough to last through a night of dancing. Advice: reach out to Courtney early! If you're like me and clueless, you might not know that September through October is super busy for weddings. If your date is somewhere around there, start on alterations sooner rather than later. (My date was March so it didn't impact me, but wanted to share the feedback just in case it helps another bride!)

Courtney worked absolute magic on my dress! She was recommended by my stylist at BHLDN and I'm so glad. Courtney (and her whole team) worked so efficiently and are very talented, I felt like a princess the whole night at my wedding! She is also so down-to-earth, honest and kind while maintaining absolute professionalism. I would highly recommend!

Dress length is way too long -- this dress is not meant to have a train.

L&H Bridal is truly a special place…read more The staff are all so friendly and treat you like you are their own daughter getting married. I worked with my consultant Allie who is phenomenal. I had a somewhat vague explanation of the style and inspiration and Allie whips out the most perfect dress. Of course, I tried a few others but the first one she nabbed for me to try was the winner! Allie went above and beyond to take photos so that I could include my older brother who was unable to attend. If you are looking for another style, the staff don't hestiate on going to their other locations to grab a dress for you to try on. The ballroom is large and you don't get overwhelmed since the dresses are all so well organized. The selection is massive with all colors, styles, and aesthetics accounted for. If you are in Philadelphia or the suburbs of Philadelphia, honestly this is the only bridal salon you need to visit! I absolutely loved my experience here for getting my wedding dress and wholeheartedly recommend.

Where to start... (worth the read from someone who purchased their dress at this awful place)…read more My first visit to L&H was fabulous with Tara - she helped me find my dress, and made the entire process enjoyable (she knew exactly what I wanted after asking all the right questions). However, the great experience stopped there. I also ordered my bridesmaid dresses through L&H, but when they came in, they were a completely different color. The manager assured me that they would work with the manufacturer to have them reshipped quickly, with a deadline of a month before my wedding (3 of my bridesmaids lived out of town)... that did not happen, and I had to be the one to call continuously asking where they were, until they finally came in just 3 weeks from my wedding (oh, and they still weren't the correct color, but at this point, there was nothing I could do). This is where it all went downhill. I had the WORST experience having my dress fitted. Lucy, the seamstress (who I later figured out was the OWNER), was rude every time I went in there, made my dress fit worse than it originally fit, and made awful body shaming comments to me and 3 of my bridesmaids). Needless to say, I couldn't complain to the owner... My first fitting: Lucy came in for a solid 3 minutes. I asked her to make the bra area smaller to fit my small chest, and she told me to wear cutlets... she then pinned me where I asked her to take it out around my stomach, and bring up the straps somewhat. Then left. I was in and out in 10 minutes. My second fitting: I brought my two bridesmaids thinking their dresses would be in, as it was past the date they promised.. they were not in. My dress fit WORSE than when it first came in. She had not taken anything out of the waist and took the straps in so much that I could barely fit them over my shoulders. I expressed my concern and then sent a detailed email showing how the dress fit at my first fitting, to then, so that she could fix it properly. I was now less than a month out from my wedding and very distraught, but figured I would give them another shot. My third fitting (I requested this one because they wanted me to come back just for a final fitting a week before the wedding, but I did not trust that it would actually fit). At this point, I tried on my dress and noticed where it had been taken out- it was bumpy (I had light beading), so I asked if I could talk to Lucy... in which she came in and said "what's wrong now?". To the BRIDE. I asked her if she had finished taking out my dress, or if she still had to do so, to which she responded "it is done, that is the best I could do", and I explained and showed her that it did not lay flat, that it looked bad, and you could tell it had been taken out. She said again "that is the best I could do, it will lay flatter after it is pressed", turned around, and walked out. I was appalled, but at this point did not want her touching my dress again. I was too scared to complain to anyone or ask her to fix it because I was honestly worried she would do something to mess it up further. I asked around and found another seamstress who could help if I came back in and it still looked bad. Lucy (the owner) also asked my bridesmaid "what she was going to do with what little boobs she had" when she asked to have it adjusted (again, basically telling her to wear a bra), and made my other bridesmaid cry after asking her "what she planned on doing with all her fat" and told her to wear Spanx, when she was 2 months postpartum. Lucy also tailored two of the bridesmaid dresses and made them fit worse than when they originally tried them on (there is a theme here). The shop would not refund them the money. RUN from this place. They made an experience that was supposed to be wonderful, absolutely dreadful.

She was extremely helpful and responsive every single step of the way. Without her, I don't think I would have gotten everything together. I did not do a package, instead I rented a wedding dress, a mandarin qipao, hired a make up artist, MC, and DJ through Paris; and when our old decorator pulled out at the last minute, Ula eased the stress with a new recommendation 1 month away. 1. Dress selection is limited, and it did cost more than I expected to rent, but I don't regret not needing to have to store a giant dress in my tiny Manhattan apartment. The seamstress was very nice to work with, though I think she only speaks Chinese. 2. Make up artist was Crystal! She was so great. She traveled all the way up to Morningside Heights with her giant suitcase and did a phenomenal job. My schedule is difficult and Ula was able to work with me to secure a make up trial with Crystal a couple months before the wedding. It was extremely helpful to have a make up trial beforehand, so I do recommend it, even if it costs more. 3. JJ was my MC and I had a couple of guests come up to me to tell me how great she was going in between English and Mandarin. My friends speaks english but family members do not, so hiring JJ was such a win. She called us a month before and planned out an itinerary, which we ended up not following the day of, but she was able to play it by ear and made the night very fun. 4. DJ was James Vincent, who knew how to work the crowd. Lots of dancing, which was what we wanted. So overall, it was a great experience having a one- stop shop for all of our extra-venue vendors. I did not use their photographer/videographers since I had a recommendation from a friend (I wanted to be able to work with the same photographer for our engagement shoot and our wedding day-- so that they get to know you). Highly recommend.

And after we had our wedding, our guest did nothing but rave about how fun, unique and perfect the reception was. But just having a reception at RTM is not what I'd recommend it. It was so much more. It was having the incredible variety of foods - we had cheesesteaks, DiNic's roast pork, Chinese food, a salad bar, poutine and corn dogs, grilled cheese from Meltkraft, the list goes on. It was having a historic and unique setting that was transformed into a beautiful evening even with string lights, candles, table clothes, decorations and provided an ambiance it'd be impossible to replicate anywhere else. It was the servers who attended to our guests every need, kept the party going, the room clean and the people happy. It was every little touch that the planning team executed perfectly for us, that all happened without us realizing it, without any reminders or questions. The planning team at All About Events were the true heroes of the night - and in fact, the whole planning process. We met with them about 15 months before our wedding, and Christina, Stevie and Liam made sure that everything was easy, fun and exciting. Christina's emails to us were always clear and thorough, addressing every little question I had asked, and pointing out tiny things I never would have thought of. Stevie's communication with our vendors was so appreciated, including our Mummers and DJ! And every time we met with them, the meetings were exciting, joyful. Their personalities and kindness and caring for us and our events just SHONE. We could not recommend RTM and AAE more. They are a truly wonderful team, and a gem in the Philadelphia wedding scene. I hope that we get to go to another event at the market soon, and we will certainly keep them in mind for our 10th anniversary vow renewal!!!!

So many tiny details to try and keep track of. Quite honestly, every issue I could think of she had already taken care of them. Every detail, down to the smallest issue, she was on top it. I swear I don't know where she gets the energy to be in a dozen places at one time but she did it. She was a critical and essential part of the wedding team and I'm certain, that I would of ended up in a fetal position in a corner somewhere had it not been for her. She's a true professional with a personality that gravitates you to her. I cannot recommend her highly enough. The three most essential parts of the highly successful wedding, was the bride, the groom and Nancy. She made it all happen without a hitch.
