Customer service. They failed my smog without asking me to provide proof my cold intake is carb legal. Failed my visual inspection. And asked for 40$ to retest when I can show proof. Could have been avoided if I was allowed to show proof. Very unprofessional. Don't recommend. read more

Went to the DMV this morning and they said I needed a smog check. I looked up Smog check near me and there were a few places that close at 5pm or 5:30pm and I found that Prieto Smog Center closes at 6pm. I called and asked if I needed an appointment or a walk in and they said either but they put me down for a same day appointment. I left work and found Prieto Smog Center located at the corner of a shopping plaza located on Sunnymead Blvd. The shopping plaza has a mix of different automotive stores/shops. I walked in and saw that their waiting area was clean with cute neon signs that say Moreno Valley and Save Our Planet, blue chairs, TV, and vending machine. They remembered that I had called and had me fill out my information and we were good to go. I found online that they have a coupon for $39.75 for a smog check. My experience here was great, they were reliable, fast, and helpful. I recommend coming to Prieto Smog Center for smog check services. They are star certified. read more

Unfortunately it has nothing to do with the actual smog check. It's more of a customer service issue. I had to retest because I changed the battery out before the smog test. It failed do to the computer not resetting gentlemen told me to drive it around for about 150-200 miles. It's a $40 retest fee. It's more like $53 after all taxes and certifications. Still not a big deal. So fast forward to my retest it passed. Now here comes my issue. After I paid (different gentleman probably the owner) this time, he informed me that I didn't need the old test (receipt) and informed me I could throw it away. I simply asked if he could do it ( throw it away ) he said no I could do it. It might sound petty but I've been coming here for probably over 10 years. It just rubbed me the wrong way. So I'll be finding me a new smog place for my 4 vehicles. read more

The good: Weekday walk in for a smog check, quick and easy. The bad: They refused to accept their own online coupon because they already started writing the invoice, and they couldn't tell me why they wouldn't honor the coupon except that "the owner wants it that way." They also charge $3 to pay with debit or credit. (I know most places pass this transaction fee to the customer now too, but it is still an aggravating part of the consumer squeeze to charge more for every little thing.) Horrible service, first and last time coming here. Came here for a smog check failed for having an after market air filter. He mentioned I needed a sticker and would not pass me with out it. Told him I would get the sticker that contains the numbers for the air filter but he said it was too late and would charge me again to pass me. Any other smog business would have looked up the part number and saw that it was legal. This is the first place that doesn't bother helping someone out and fails you automatically for something small. read more

I called several times and they never returned a phone call. they didn't open until after 8:30 in the morning, which is different than their website. went in requested a smog, and then when we went to pay, they refused the coupon because we didn't show it at the time we entered the building so instead of the smog. Called a week prior after searching around for a smog shop that is affordable and I went online to see they have a coupon too and confirm it can still be used and also asked question about if I put a new battery in then what will I need to do prior to the test and how much I'd be paying total. So out the door in cash (make sure you get cash) it was 45. Make sure you mention coupon in beginning meaning when you first get to the desk there not while they are making you sign everything and not when the test is being done otherwise you miss out. It explains on the coupon just read and call ahead ask questions you guys...even if you had something replaced or changed in the car just ask if that will affect the test. I have revised my original business rating of 1 star and my review. While I did not like the way I was initially treated at the shop or their pricing structure, Juan head about my experience and took the trouble and effort to reach out to me, multiple times, in order to make things right. I have huge respect for this man and his efforts to make sure the customer is treated properly. He actually went above and beyond what I would have expected. If he had been working on the day I originally came into the shop, none of this would have transpired. HUGE shout out to Juan and his professional attitude. Stuff happens. But how someone responds after the fact makes all the difference. (original post) I will stop just short of calling them dishonest crooks. They charged me $5.00 extra because they call a Honda CRV a SUV (it is a compact car, smaller than most sedans). The sign in the shop says LARGE trucks and luxury vehicles are $5 extra, this is definitely NOT a large vehicle and no harder to test than any regular car. Retests are $40.00, only $10.00 at other shops. They will nickle and dime you to death. Watch out for all of these extra charges. I have taken several of my 8 work trucks there but no longer. Definitely finding a shop that rewards loyalty and doesn't have hidden fee's or really high retest fees. read more
