Pride and Joy has truly become like a second family to us. My son started there when he was just five months old, and now at three years old, it's amazing to see how much he has grown and thrived in their care. The teachers are so kind, loving, and genuinely invested in each child. It brings me so much comfort knowing he is in such a safe and nurturing environment every day. We're incredibly grateful for the entire team at Pride and Joy. Our story with Pride & Joy Daycare, and the two updates are at the very bottom of this review. On July 18th 2023 at 1:34pm, my husband and I received a called from Donna (lead teacher) and Vanessa (a Pride & Joy director) that our 2-year old's daycare teacher, Ashley took the whole class back inside the classroom leaving our son, James, outside. We were told that James was "left outside less than 5 minutes in the backyard." We picked up James from the daycare immediately. At that time, we spoke to Stephanie, the director of another Pride & Joy location, in which she told us in person, that James was left outside on the front lawn unsupervised for "15-20 minutes." Not a single person involved in this situation spoke with us. Stephanie told us, "Ashley was supposed to collect the kids (about 15 kids), and Donna was supposed to do a face to name check at the door which was not done." She also expressed how upset she was about the situation, and that she was the one who made the call to Child Protective Services, and Office of Children and Family Services. We were told by Stephanie that according to the Infant Room teacher who ended up taking her class to a different area of the property, that James went to her twice. She sent James away the first time to "go back to your group," and then supposedly he came back a second time, and that's when the teacher realized something wasn't right. Interestingly enough, our 14-year-old son, Kai, just so happened to be walking past the daycare with a friend on his way to play tennis. Kai actually took a picture of Jimmy while he was completely unsupervised. The director Stephanie told my husband and I twice on the day of the incident that "Ashley was supposed to collect the children, and Donna was supposed to do a face to name check at the door." No other teachers were mentioned. We were also told that Donna was already inside the classroom changing the diaper of another child. When I asked CPS about the cameras, thinking the footage would answer all questions, her response was "their cameras have been inoperable since their last visit." UPDATE: JULY 25, 2023-- VIEWING OF VIDEO FOOTAGE FROM A SOURCE OUTSIDE OF THE DAYCARE James was left outside unattended for 45 minutes. The infant room teacher who claimed to tell James to "go back to his group" actually had a barricade up (put up at 10:33am), and my son did not actually go to her. She was in charge of her own class. 11:02am, and the lead teacher Donna can be seen shocked, with two hands over her face with clearly the news of my son being outside. 11:20am, Stephanie is seen entering the building from the parking lot. Since the incident, James has been having nightmares screaming for my husband, Kai, and me. At the beginning of the footage Donna can be seen leaving the classroom, and building in her red pickup truck. Who was with Ashley and the 15 kids? Donna appears to come back to the building with a white grocery bag. UPDATE AS OF MAY 21st, 2024: If this wasn't a nightmare enough. My husband and I live near the daycare, and who do we see with the children out on the front lawn? Ashley. That's right. The teacher that is not supposed to be working with children anymore according to CPS! The same week Ashley was seen still working with 2 year olds, I get a copy of the letter that was supposed to be sent out to the current enrolled parents of Pride & Joy. The letter did not mention the fact that my son was left outside for 43 minutes on the front lawn during a heatwave. Stephanie also lies in the letter stating that the child had contact with another teacher "shortly."No he did not! My 2 year old was left on the front lawn, without water, or supervision, and was running around with a metal garden stake. I was not going to write a review, but to now see that these parents are being lied to, and that Ashley still works there with children is beyond irresponsible, dangerous, and illegal. I was told that Ashley can no longer work with children, and she is still working at Pride & Joy. read more

I cannot recommend Pride & Joy enough. Pride & Joy has been the most loving and learning community, truly being instrumental in the social, emotional and educational growth of my children. When we moved here from a large city, P&J was the first place we made friends. The teachers are professional and loving. Pride & Joy is a small center with a very individualized approach. This is not a big, institutionalized setting. My older child recently graduated from Pride & Joy after attending for four years, and my younger child is currently attending as a toddler. Our older child has made lifelong buddies here and is still excited to greet their former teachers when we drop off our younger one. Our older child is socially well-adjusted, is more than prepared for kindergarten and follows instructions - all of which is due, in part, to the structure provided at Pride & Joy. Our younger child enjoys loads of free and imaginative play, outside time and their language skills have recently skyrocketed. As it might be expected with such a desirable school, openings are rare, so I would say to call and make an appointment to register as soon as you are able, or even while you are expecting, which is what I had to do with my younger child. My wife and I have been sending our two children to Pride & Joy for a year-and-a-half. One of the the most difficult aspects of our decision to now relocate to another state has been knowing that we would have to take our kids out of the care of these incredibly warm, compassionate and professional people. During our time with Pride & Joy, our children have always been thrilled when we've dropped them off, and have always had smiles on their faces when we've picked them up. Knowing we've had a safe and welcoming environment to care for our kids while we've worked has given us incredible peace of mind. We will truly miss sending our children here. read more

My son whom is almost 7 months old has been with Pride and Joy for the past 4 months. The daycare workers take care of him like he is their own child. I forsee him being ahead of others as the months and years pass by because of how much they are teaching him!! I highly suggest them :) read more

Both my 3.5 year old and 7 month old attend Pride and Joy and we absolutely love it. The staff are incredibly loving, thoughtful, understanding, and accommodating. My oldest child has attended since the age of 7 months and has grown so much as a result. In addition to providing for my children's needs, they help them grow socially and intellectually. Pride and Joy Childcare has exceeded my very high standards for my son's daycare needs. He has been going there daily since he was 3 months old and he's about to be 2. I truly believe his development would have not been the same if he wasn't in their care. The staff is extremely skilled, caring and loving. They are thorough and communicate very well with us about his overall development, daily details, and ways we can help further his learning at home. He is excited to go to school every morning and is happy at pickup. He is fully engaged with the development he is getting there. We were looking for a daycare in the Babylon/Bay Shore area and I remember being really impressed with the cleanliness and the childrens artwork all over, during our tour. The kids spend a good amount of time outside playing too which I love. Even in the infant room he would get outside daily, they would go for walks, and involve the infants in daily acitivites. So happy with their daycare/learning facility. My daughter attends their newest location and my son attended the original location prior to that six years ago. Socialization, learning, outdoor time, couldn't be happier with the program, facilities and caretakers. A great combination of childcare mixed with kindergarten preparedness. First impression are huge and they had a great one. The owner seemed wonderful, very accommodating and cared about our children. We were very happy at first. After a few things happened we pulled our children out. We found out after the fact that she had spoken badly about me to other parents, which is extremely unprofessional and in the end it was all about the money. My son went here when they opened in 2006, until he went to preschool. They had an amazing staff and program, it wasnt just in-home-babysitting, like so many others. I knew he was not only being cared for by such a high integrity owner and childcare providers, but also he was learning in a safe enviornment. Now they have expanded to include another facility with the same high standards they uphold in their in-home. The owner has a deep love for children, their growth process and puts that first. I searched and searched for the right place for our son. I can honestly say that this is the best childcare around! In addition to being the best in providing care, I love the extra things that they incorporated. There were themed days; my son's favorite was show and tell. He shared his photo album with all of his aunt's, uncles, cousins and grandparents in it. My husband and my favorite was the graduation ceremony they had for my son and another little boy who was graduating from Pride and Joy and moving on to Kindergarten. It was such a special day for us! We love and miss Pride & Joy so much! read more
