We needed to kill a few minutes until our Little Cesar's order would be ready. The store felt like a supersized bodega. A lot of things that cater to Spanish speaking folks. I got a huge jar of minced garlic in oil and a box of LD Honey Buns. The garlic rang up .50 more than the shelf price but I was not going to call anyone because we were in a hurry to get our food next door and eat. I have been going to Price Rite for many years only because of the prices. The last few years I have seen a transformation. I have lived in this area all of my life. Along with many other stores, there are an influx of foreigners. I was there this weekend and an announcement can be heard over the loud speaker. It was in Spanish ONLY! This is a sure sign that there are more foreigners than natural born citizens. When did it become ok to cater to foreigners. I couldn't understand the announcement and I am 1500 miles from any Spanish speaking country. This wasn't the case 5 years ago. It was a melting pot of every walk of life. If I could put 0 stars I wouldn't hesitate. This store is full of rude managers and you can even overhear them yelling at their employees on the sales floor. I tried to call corporate to address the situation to them only to be brushed off like it was nothing. If there is a cashier available theres only one with about 10 people in line. Most times though you will have to use self checkout. The produce is moldy and mushy as if no one checks in on it which unsettles me. Keep in mind there is no customer service desk to talk to about any of this. I bought peppers from this place before and it got me and my boyfriend sick for 2 days. Highly recommend that you just shop at Wal-Mart their variety is much better and they have great customer service. PriceRite has given me problems I didn't even think were possible. read more

Terrible experience this afternoon. Good items, good prices, so 1 star. But, there are 2 lines for self check out, 1 is marked for less than 15 items, the other, cash only. I had more than 15, so I walked the whole length of the store to discover NO CHECK OUTS OPEN AT ALL! By the time I walked back to the self checkout, 2 more people with huge carts full were in front of me. Great. An elderly man spent over 20 minutes trying to check himself out, and the kind woman in front of me helped him at least 3 separate times. When it was finally my turn, I had to get help at least twice from the girl who was supposed to be watching all of the self checkouts. How do you scan a tomato, anyway? I finally told her to go help the poor man who was STILL TRYING TO CHECK HIS ITEMS OUT. Appalling. I have a job. I do not want to be a checker in a grocery store, thanks. I never use self check because it is taking a job from someone who wants to work. I won't shop here again, and have told several friends of my experience, and they say the same. At Gerrity's or Price Chopper they check out your items, they are helpful, and even offer to help customers to their car with their orders. Plus, I have never waited more than a few minutes in line, because they open another register. Take a lesson, Price Rite. You get a D today. Add to that, when I tried to serve my family dinner that night, the refrigerated mashed potatoes I purchased here, dated use by 7/31, were green molded across the top. It was only July 8! We had an annoying experience the other day. I took my 87 yr old mom to shop here, and the shopping was fine and we got some good deals. Then we got to the registers.....only one cashier and the self checkout. So we stood in line for about 10 mins., they opened up another register. A few people got in that line, we stayed in our original line. There were still a few people ahead of us, with pretty big orders. There were a couple of people behind us also. Well, we were now next in line, and the man (Probably the manager: he was watching the self check area) came over and rudely said "she has to close" and then he just pushed the candy part of the aisle in front of us and walked away. He never apologized for the inconvenience or cared that we and the other people behind us had to get back into the one and only long line next to us. Long story short....took us 45 mins to checkout of that store. I understand they were shorthanded, but he could have handled the situation a little more professional. He was just downright rude. read more

Bring your own bags or buy some for 10 cents each , because they save money by this , and that savings is passed on to you . Great store with very affordable items. It is absolutely an alternative to Walmart and similar stores for groceries. You can buy breads, fruits and dairy products with a good variety and at much lower prices. I recommend it for families and those who seek products on sales. I just found the shop last week and will go again today. Also assortment is not as complete as Walmart but you will buy many items only from this shop if you try it. read more

I purchase 72 to 96 cans of dog food every week.Lately I have to lift all 3 to 4 cases out of my cart just to have the cashier put them back in.I understand all items out of the cart,but having these cases lifted 3 times before I get to my car and 5 times before I get them in the house,renders these cases worthless!!!The cases of dog food can clearly be seen as to what and how much there are in the cart. This was and is a very poor decision on managements part.Before blaming the cashier or customer,management should try working a FULL day at the front end.Break a sweat boys,you actually may sleep better.I am now shopping at Wal-Mart,they have great customer service and a management team with great customer service!, and they actually bag for free all of your groceries. read more

ok i guess for what it is. First off u bag your own groceries they sell the bags their for like 15 cents a bag, but they are pretty big bags so u can fit alot in them. I would only shop here for certain products that they carry. Stay away from their meats. You can buy cheap cereal, soda, snacks, here, and they are priced cheaper than other store. They also carry some ice cream that was pretty cheap, Turkey Hill pints and more. I do not like their bakery products, most of them taste lousy. I would not buy their Price Rite canned food products and you'll be sorry if u do, they taste terrible. read more

I will start by saying that Price-Rite is one of the best kept money-saving secrets in Scranton, PA. You can save a ton of money here on your groceries. They sell discounted name brand and their store brand products. They also have a great produce section, with a lot of reasonably prices specialty items. You should bring your own bags, or pick up some empty boxes on the shelves while you are shopping, because they charge for bags. They do this to cut down on costs so that they can pass the savings on to you. The only issue that I have with this store is that the service that you get can either be really good, or suck majorly. I had a run in with a rude assistant manager there a while back, and I emailed the corporate office about it, but got no response. I never see the boy there anymore when I shop there, so he must have either quit or been fired for a bad attitude, I imagine. Besides that, this is a great place to save some money and fill your refrigerator and cabinets. read more
