I just tried to contact the meat department and they never answered after waiting on hold for several minutes, called back tried to put me through, after waiting another lady came on and said she was now going to put my call back there, then hung up on me! If I could give this negative stars I would. Price Chopper on 71 hwy is always my lasso resort when it comes to grocery shopping. The lines are always long, the workers are uber slow, and something is always out of stock. However, due to a stomach virus and pending ice storm on 1/16/20 I had to take my chances since it's one of the closest grocery stores to me. I went to the store and quickly grabbed the items that I needed. Due to dry heaving right before leaving my house, I was anxious to get in and get out but the lines were long per usual. I definitely understood due to the circumstances. After waiting 15 minutes in line, I finally checked out and headed to my car. I literally live 6 minutes away so I was gone from the store no longer than 15 minutes when I realized I was missing items as I stored my items away at home. I called three times back to back and finally got someone to answer. I explained to them that I had items missing and rambled off each item that I was missing. I was advised to return to the store with my receipt to obtain my items (frozen waffles, one liter of ginger ale, and a pack of starburst). I was walking to my car as we conversed so hanging up the phone I let them know that I lived 5 minutes away and was already in my car headed back. I return to the store and head straight to customer service. It's a LONG line for customer service, about 10-15 customers, and long lines for all of the normal check out lanes. I waited patiently for the person behind checkout to give the client at the counter her total, and while she was reaching for her wallet quickly let them know that I wasn't cutting but I just wanted to grab my things and head out. The lady (whose voice I recognized from the phone) asked me what items I was missing. I again told her the three items I was missing and she advised that I would need to "go to the store and comeback". When I asked her to clarify her comment, she advised my things had been put back and that I would need to grab them and then come back to the customer service counter. This was less than 10 minutes after I told her I was coming back to grab my things! At this point I'm just over it and demanded a refund for the items I told her I was coming right back for! She then points to the atrociously long line and tells me that I need to get in line if I want her to process my refund for my items. At no point did she apologize for the inconvenience and her tone was actually quite rude. I asked to speak with a manger and then she smartly replied that she was a manager and that I could "take it or leave it" when it came to getting in line for my refund. I was so upset that I just left and wrote a corporate email. My email was apparently forwarded to the Ball Group which I'm guessing manages that awful location. As of today I have not received my items or a refund. If I have to take it as a loss then so be it, but everyone should be warned against going to this location! P.S. Really .5 stars. Only grocery store in the area and they run it like they know we don't have other options. They have twelve registers and I've never seen more than five open, even at peak times on the weekends and evenings. Literally ten people in each line and they won't call for more cashiers. After this last time I think I'll drive fifteen minutes for better service. I end up wasting that time in line anyways.... read more

There are occasions when I have been to the Grandview Price Chopper when the majority of the staff did not cover their noses with their masks. On another occasion, all were covered. I was at the Grandview Price Chopper on Saturday april 3rd 2021 at about 9:15PM. I noticed that 3 or 4 employees were wearing their masks without covering their noses. Two register operators and two baggers, I believe. My cashier was one of them. He was a younger hispanic man, probably in his teens or twenties. I asked the cashier if management allowed him to not cover his nose. He said that he has allergies and that is why he did not do it. A bagger was nearby who was not covering his nose and I asked him if that was because he had allergies. He looked very puzzled and said, "What?". My cashier then pulled his mask over his own nose. As I left, I could see he had pulled it off his nose again. I went to the customer service counter and spoke to Theresa. I asked if Price Chopper management permitted employees not to cover their noses with their masks. She immediately told me that i would have to ask The Public Health Department. I tried to clarify my question and she repeated the same answer. I let her know that i would speak with Price Chopper's offices and mention her name and our conversation. she said, " Yeah, well you do that. I also will not that I avoid this Price Chopper ordinarily because cash register service is among the slowest in any grocery store i go to. In this case they waited until carts were 6 deep before adding a couple of registers. A trip there has never been "in and out" for me. read more

Shoutouts to the girl at the checkout desk around 5:40pm 2/15/2020 who had to put up with that entitled woman who verbally abused her for just doing her job and giving good customer service. We were all waiting a long time in line, and everyone around us though that lady just needed to chill and wait patiently like the rest of us. Prices seem ridiculously high. I guess when you are the only store in the area you can charge weekday you want. I often stop for fruit to have at work. Today i thought i would get some grapes. When they rang up just under $10 for a bag i was shocked. I commented that the price wasnt right or needed removed. The cashier commented red grapes were on sale and the price was correct. They should rename the store to Price Gouger. read more

The fact that they had multiple security guards should tell you to stay clear of this store unless you live very close to it. It was crowded and unorganized. Prices were high, probably to pay for the extra security. The cashier was nice and that's why I give it 2 stars. I didn't feel comfortable using my card so I used cash, the security up front indicates that shady things happen here. read more

This store is always clean and most of the employees friendly and helpful. But as a disabled person I am often frustrated when NONE of the handicapped carts are charged. This is a huge store. It is very hard for anyone with a physical disability to get around this store. Now I understand that the person who would be in the best position to monitor the use of the electric carts, the security guard in the front of the store, is not allowed to plug the carts in to be recharged. So if you come into this store and you really NEED one of these carts you are just SOL and the store really doesn't care about your problem. read more

They renovated the store to make it look better inside. Sadly, it's VERY ghetto. What makes me give them a 1 star are the lines. Every singly time I go, the lines are a minimum of 10 minutes. I went in for eggs. Literally, 1 item. I spent 10 minutes in the shortest line (3 people) because the employee moved slower than a snail. Their employees really don't care. By the time I left the store, my eggs were sweating. If this store put in a self check line I'd go back. As of right now, I'm going the Price Chopper on State Line (10min away) because I can be in and out in less than 5 minutes (they have self check). read more

This is my store, it's near my home, and I like all the cashiers. I cannot believe anyone would feel threatened by a security guard at the front of the store. He stands there and keeps an eye on the parking lot to make sure everyone, inside and out, are all safe. One of them, Andrew, was very nice to the elderly, he was always helping older adults take their things to their cars, escorting ladies to their cars after dark. ....I miss him....he was really nice. read more

The security guards are polite and helpful to customers and workers. No need to concern yourself on how close they stand to employees; there are managers ready and willing if needed. The only people that worry about security are people that want to commit crimes... Didn't feel comfortable enough to break the law?.. means they are doing their job correctly. We pride ourselves on quality and customer service, and while i hate lose your business... See your and your snap decisions somewhere else. read more

My mother always told me if I didn't have anything nice to say, keep it to myself. I'll leave it just like that. It's a Balls Price Chopper and there's a Security Guard up front that comes off as threatening. Yeah there's a guard in the Cosentino's off 71 and 163rd in Belton but he is not standing right there at the entrance. Yeah he lets you know he's there but doesn't come off as a Monster. I avoid this location. Example, the clerk was checking the Missouri Lottery scratchers tickets vending machine, he hovered over her as if though I was going to hit her upside her head. Hey, it's a Price Chopper in a sketchy area. Balls Foods put some 'lipstick on this pig' a couple of years ago and cleaned it up, but still have eternal waits to pay. I own/operate a business in Grandview (but don't live in the area) so I admit I do shop there occasionally for the convenience, but certainly not for the quality and customer service(??). But then it IS Grandview, after all...where 'SURLY' is a way of life. And it's the only major grocery store in SKC between Bannister Rd and Belton and Leawood and Lees Summit, so the place is crazy busy all the time. (Store Management tries, I'm sure... I wouldn't want THAT job, wow) Balls must make a FORTUNE at this store...so hey, maybe take some of that money/profit and pay a decent living wage and invest it in more Cashiers? In the mean-time, I'll keep spending my food budget at Hen House. read more

I have been going to this location since before and after the renovation, I'm somewhat disconcerted by the sheer number of negative reviews. That's not to say that I haven't had a 'negative' experience or 2 in the past 5 years. The security guards have always been extremely polite and welcoming as well as the cashiers and other workers. Although I agree that they could definitely benefit from some self-checkouts. It's not quite Walmart pricing but they do have a generous stock of non-GMO goods. read more

The first time I went to this store I left without buying anything. The "fresh" produce was wilted, old looking and just not appealing at all. I dropped in again to give it a second chance and it looked totally different. Everything looked fresh and appealing so I'm glad I tried again. I visited this store earlier this week. They took the money from my transaction out of my bank account twice. I have called the store manager and she gave me the number of a man to call if I hadn't gotten an answer in 48 hours! Here we are over 72 hours and still no call from anyone! I have left several voicemails with no answer! I have contacted my bank to see if it was an error on their end after price chopper blamed them. My bank account was overdrawn after bills were automatically withdrawn. I am left with no answers and no help from price chopper! I will not return. Be very cautious and watch your bank accounts to be sure they aren't taking your money as well! read more

This store has vastly improved over what it once was. It is cleaner, aisles seem wider, produce is much nicer and, most of all, there are generally enough checker to keep lines moving quickly. We shop the liquor dept pretty often and I wish I could remember her name but the lady that usually handles that department is so nice as well as efficient. A credit to the store. In the meat department the steaks are sometimes very nice but sometimes the butcher must be either inexperienced or a maybe just careless as the steaks are not at all consistent. for example on several occasions in looking through the strip steaks there will be some that look like strip steaks and then some packages as strip steaks that are unidentifiable and look like some other odd cut of meat. I will mention, also, that on several visits their produce department seems pretty empty of some items. They need to keep up with restocking a little better. Otherwise it is now a very nice, seemingly well managed store. read more

This place appears nice at first, like their produce looks fresh but turn the corner to the seafood and poultry...it SMELLS! Something in the area smells rotten and gagged me in that whole section.
