on my way home from some shopping today I stopped to grab two corner to corner pizzas, Mozzy sticks, jalapeños poppers, drove home 40 mins got things opened up to feed me andy kids. The pizzas are beyond edible. Burnt !! Try calling the store and no one answers the phone for management . Not like I can just travel back 40 minutes one way to handle this. I went to Price Chopper in Chenango Bridge to take advantage of their deal on soda which was buy two get one free. After checking the tags to make sure I was following the rules of the ad, I went to the front to check out. I've never had a problem before this day. Turns out that *I* was supposed to know what soda is manufactured by Coke and what soda is manufactured by Pepsi. There was NO indication as to which products are manufactured by the different companies and which are included in the sale!! After a rude cashier told us we needed to choose a different brand or put it away, I just left them there and went home. The next day I went to Weis and they had THE SAME DEAL! The difference? They allowed me to mix and match between Pepsi and Coke products. After years of weekly shopping at Price Chopper, I never would have thought I would be treated that way. Now I shop at Weis and I get some great deals! read more

No cashiers. Everyone had to go to self checkout. Constant problem at this store. The one item I wanted to buy was not in their system although it was stocked on their shelf. Twice this has happened. Walked out with nothing. This has been a poorly run store for years. The prices are also more than other stores in the area. It is close to home for grabbing a few items. If you have an enemy that you want to punish, just have them pick something up from this store. By the time they leave, they will hate you as much as you hate them. They will also be broke, have no bags, probably no receipt, sore feet from waiting forever, and sore arms because there aren't even BASKETS. Selection is ok. Prices mostly fair. Deli counter staff pleasant and cut properly. Bakery are ok. Easy parking. What SUCKS is the management. Almost never are there more than two cashiers working, and often one. Wait can be interminable. Couple this with seeing store staff hanging about near the office area and it's maddening. read more

Welp, bulk bakery items made the list of things I can't buy at Price Chopper without a headache (The others include alcohol, but the re-opening of West Side Beer Depot solved that problem, and vegetables). ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Yesterday I learned that the code provided to customers for bagels is wrong even though it brings up the item "bagles" and prints it on the receipt. But not until I had a self-checkout staffer come from behind out of the blue to insert herself into my personal space - not to mention my life - without an "excuse me" to start typing in a different code (and how she knew what I was ringing up with my back turned at a self-checkout station not next to her will forever baffle me), not give me an explanation as to why the code she had tried to put on my tab was the right code or why "bagels" was printed on my receipt with the code I'd used, and tell her to get me a manager. Not since Farrah Fawcett's "Burning Bed" or J-Lo's "Enough" have I witnessed the rhetoric of persuasion and argument that, at minimum, borders on the abusive. It was me interrupting the manager, not him interrupting me. It was me not listening to him, not him ignoring not just me, but reality itself. Through nothing more than my decision to not back down, not feel fear (like you would in a face-to-face with a growling dog), or not acquiesce to the exasperating verbal dodges from this manager, did he choose to shift gears and look at what he needed for him to accept that customers aren't being given the information they need to ring up their items independently. But before all the convolution and ridiculous quips of his that he expected me to swallow, it was me and my f-bombs that were the problem. Seriously, the incredulity on this guy's face was as if I was nothing more than a profane ingrate who refused to understand all the savings I had been missing out on by - for some reason - using the wrong code for bagels since the code I'd been using taxes bagels. Now, with the space-invading, back-talking staffer - who couldn't, despite two opportunities, explain why I was using the wrong code - having abandoned the self-checkout computer she'd been in charge of, a neighboring customer needed help, and the manager I was speaking to was the closest to her, so we disengaged. I left realizing that I was possibly walking out of something akin to Orwell's Oceania. I got more than one apology from this manager, but come on. All I have to say is give thanks for Amazon Prime! Hi, I shop at this price chopper all the time. My Neighbor gave me a few returnable bottles & cans. I got to the return area of PC, there was a man who had a lot of returns. He was very nice, He let me go ahead of Him. I got mine done. His Neighbor gave Him a lot a well. So, He had some in a grocery cart. That made the worker that was working on new years day turn into Satan incarnate. I gave Him my large bag to empty the cart out. The worker still would not help Him. So, I offered to return them. The worker was going to return them for me until He asked where they came from. I told Him then He refused to help. If I was the man that was returning the bottles, I would be VERY upset. I'm upset that you hire employees like that. I've managed and I would let go of workers for doing this. read more

I used to love this Chopper but the quality has gone downhill. It's unfortunate for me because this store is the closest to me, but the Chenango Bridge one is the better of the two Binghamton locations. On the days when I need to go to this one, I just keeping finding the quality subpar. The produce selection is increasingly brown, withered and sparse. The bagged salads are always out of stock. They stopped carrying my favorite $2 tortilla chips. The meat is always only a few days away from expiration if not already on or after the sell by date. Same goes for speciality cheeses and hummus/dips. The deli never has enough people working there. I went there tonight and stood there for 5 minutes, without any acknowledgement. The guy clearly was slicing stuff for a customer who wasn't there, which is fine, but a quick smile and "I'll be right with you" goes a long way. I gave up and left. The good things are they do really have good bagels if you get them fresh. They also have good BOGO deals on things like bread and English muffins when you use your card. I also really like the gas points, and there's a very friendly guy who works in produce. But overall, I'll be sticking to Chenango Bridge and Wegmans. read more

PriceChopper has renovated with a gorgeous new store. Much of the Plaza has been razed and rebuilt, During the week, there's fewer people which makes shopping a breeze. Just bring your loyalty card to get so many bonuses. Even when further reductions occur here. Prices are getting higher but quality's not compromised Better generalized examples: a) As you get in the door, there is a terminal to flash your loyalty card. This gets you coupons for purchases, b) They still smartly send monthly mailing mag with coupons to get you in the store with unbeatable buys. Sunday paper ads are great. c) Upon checkout, you'll get coupons like a dollar off for fresh produce d) Get plenty off-price gas from Sunoco stations with loyalty card. e) Often have buy 1 get 2 free on brands like Freihofer's and Thomases. Don't have loyalty card on you ? They can access it it with your license or phone, naturally. f) Cafe with abundant seating is great place to hang and try new things. Town of Chenango also has a similar location, but I prefer this one. I appreciate New York State based Price Chopper's efforts. To the 'gourmand' :0 filtered reviewer that spoke of eating road kill: You can still depend on the thousands of sauces, marinades, condiments, fresh and canned vegetables, coating mixes, spices, cookware, and charcoal selections at the store to complement the venison. read more

I must disagree with that whopping five-star review! I lived near Price Chopper for two years sans car and thus was forced to do the majority of my grocery shopping there. It made me a little sad. Yes, they have pretty much whatever you'd need for daily life. However, they don't have some of the more luxury or fancy things that one would occasionally want to splurge on. I can't avoid comparing them to Wegman's and that comparison is literally a joke. (I know comparing Wegman's to any ordinary supermarket is a bit unfair, but it does make you see what's missing.) Price Chopper's deli is pretty spare, their international food section is not too diverse/authentic, the bakery is a bit pathetic, the meat and fish scare me a tad... and above all the prices are just not so good on a daily basis! You *have* to buy things on sale at Price Chopper or else you're overpaying. There always seems to be a pretty long wait at the checkout, too. read more

Price Chopper is a fairly good chain grocery store. I wouldn't say that they are out of this world. Or that everytime I go there I am blown away. They offer competitive prices, a gas reward system, member savings and usually open all hours of the night so anyone can get what they need. I think writing a negative review for places like this are silly. I'm less concerned that something was 80¢ more expensive somewhere else then how clean things are and easy to get to. This place meets those standards for me. Its an exceptionally clean store, as it should be for how new it is, and its easy to run in and out. What else more could you want? read more

This is the place that I do most of my grocery shopping. The new store off Glenwood/Main street is neat, clean, well lighted and organized. No it's not Wegman's, but comparing price Chopper, a small to medium size store, to Wegman's is like comparing Home Depot to your local mom and pop hardware store. There's a good general selection, but you're not going to find 50 varieties of French cheese, truffles, or pheasant under glass. The meat section, contrary to what is stated elsewhere, is sparkling clean and the meat is outstanding. Friends also shop here, and whenever there's a special occasion the meat is usually purchased at the "butcher shop" in Price Chopper. They make their own sausages which are better than the other commercially available ones. Steaks and roasts are super. And the guys behind the counter are very helpful and accommodating. Lastly, they make the very best bagels in the tri-cities area. This is coming from someone who lived most of his life in the New York area. Price Chopper does it the right way - boiling them first and then baking them, not spraying or steaming them as most places do. Believe me, there is a difference. read more

Store has become entirely WAY OVERPRICED with extreme LOW QUALITY. The store is generally clean looking and decently stocked usually. Of course when you are pricing everything a dollar ruffly higher than the next place up the road you probably dont get all that much traffic in reality... This store actually does though its kinda weird, its Binghamton though so... They are counting on people's laziness and lack of transportation to Price Gouge not "Chop"... For example take a Ribeye Delmonico steak Price Chopper price is at 13.50 per pound (dont ask what a tenderloin costs you dont want to know...), next store up road is walmart they want about 9.50 per pound next store after that is Save a Lot and they want only 5.80-6.60 per pound! Save A Lot is only about a mile up the road with Walmart kinda mid way.... Why would you buy meat at Price Chopper when its literally half price up the road?!?!?! This is the same story with everything that isn't on sale with advantage card to, PC boneless skinless chicken = 2.50-3.50 per pound Save A lot = 1.30-1.50. The icing on the cakeis that these cuts of meat are just all around crap cuts of meat, thin and very old looking and full of fat and gristle... This store even charges 1.999 a pound for marrow/soup bones with out a single scrap of fat or meat on them!!! Half gallon half & half at PC about 5 bucks at Wal Mart 4 bucks... And so on and so on... So tell me again why people shop there for more than thier so called deals/sales ever?... Even these deals if you shop around are not "deals", take thier chicken for example, they had it on sale with the card for 1.80# a few weeks back but save a lot had it at 1.30# for non "sale" price...
