Neat and food-fresh small grocery find in uptown Owego for those hungry post Covid travelers on the road.
It doesn't look like much. At first it struck me as a kind of Coney Island New York grocery. Inside are about 5-6 isles of fresh salads, a deli in back that will make and wrap sandwiches. They also sell 'deals of the day'; like Greek wraps, Italian heros (with sauce in a packet), sweets, cookies and also rebated large pizza slices from Noon (if you show up at say 2pm..) it's fresh, the joint is AC'd and the girl clerks were happy and pleasant.
They also have a large offering of house hold goods, inexpensive road-trip chips, cigarettes, papers, magazines, NY Post, gum, candy, ice cream.
Neat half-road stand, half-grocery. Plus it has a deli. Frequented by tourists with kids as well as the local blue collar getting lunch after a long shift at the factory.
Clean. Fast. Inexpensive. John's Grocery is a great namesake.
