I came here because it isn't a place you might expect "a person like me to visit" and because I liked one of my barbers at beauty school so much that I decided to follow him to whatever shop he was at. They definitely specialize in working with women's hair and locks, but with the addition of Kornell, they certainly can accept male clients with comfortability. So, I knew I was going to get a quality cut. Something about this particular cut was one of my best. I think the following contributed to this: 1. I'm older and appreciate what's around me more. 2. I knew the salonist before. 3. The place was nice and inviting inside. 4. It was one of my best cuts ever I think. 5. I unintentionally fell asleep, but I didn't want to talk much since it's a pandemic and I have a mask on anyway. My salonist was still okay with it. Maybe also because I tend not to get fussy- I make for a great client for beauty schools cause I just like saving money to maintain my hair too. With the pandemic, the beauty schools were closed for awhile when I checked. So, I opted for regular salons. It helped that I had a few pictures for him to choose from before starting. I think it would be a cool feature if when I make the appointment in advance online, if I could attach pictures in a message along with doing the appointment in advance. That could potentially make it easier on the workers rather than having for me to scramble for pics on my phone and then letting them go through that. Which is okay too. If you arrive or can arrive earlier than your appointment last minute, it's best to call in advance to see if it would be helpful for them to have you come in earlier. I know this because I had a distance to go and couldn't predict when I could get there and park exactly. And then I had to use the bathroom and I almost still had to come back for my appointment, but my salonist saw me and said it would be better to take me in at that moment and I was fine with that. So, that's how I know, lol. Cause if they have another client running late, they might still try to accommodate that person even if they have to make that person wait since they were late to their own appointment. The prices for males seem standard for a professional place that offers quality haircuts. Even though they are further out from downtown, because the place inside is cozy and has a nice bathroom, they are able to fairly hold their own with the prices they offer. I could potentially see some people thinking that the prices are a bit high. Most of the reviews of this place are very positive, and I do get the sense they're reading these and that they try to improve from any mistakes from poor reviews that seem like they were fair and well intentioned.

Drove 40 minutes to for this appointment to be turned down after being a few minutes late due to not being able to find the entrance. I was on the phone with reception the entire time trying to find the entrance, I'm explaining to her what is it that I'm seeing so she knows I am in the location but it's unclear as to where the entrance is and her exact words were "please try to hurry because we do have a 5 minute lateness policy" and it was already 3 minutes into my appointment. I was already rushing stressing out to find this entrance and when I finally found it which was probably two minutes after she said that the receptionist tells me over the phone, "am sorry but we won't be able to take you" as I am coming in I see the owner Nick and I ask him like hey I literally was here this whole time I just couldn't find the way to get in and his exact words were "well we do have a 5 minute late cancelation policy so I wont be able to take you cause it would make me late for my next appointment" I booked the wax and tint so I asked him after he said that if there's anyway you can atleast clean up my eyebrows with out the tint and with out even thinking about it he said "no". I'm sorry but if your customer already paid for the full service you can atleast say as a owner I can't do the full service but I can try to clean it up or try to do what I can with the time remaining. he didn't do any of that he just walked away and instead went outside and was talking to his friends with 25 minutes left to my appointment he definitely had enough time to at-least clean up my eyebrows even if he couldn't tint them. I more than anyone understand people have their policy but as the owner of a company you have to learn to work with people. The attitude he gave you would think I was 25 minutes late for my appointment. I tried reaching out after that to see if he could atleast reschedule and he never answered. That was literally $65 down the drain that for some people is a lot. At this point is not about the money, or him not taking me it's the poor customer service and attitude from the owner himself which was very disappointing. You don't treat people who support your business like that

I booked my appointment with Beke over the phone just a few short days before my photo shoot. She offered to do everything I was looking for at the exact time and day that was most ideal for me. When we communicated later in the day by e-mail, she asked if I could send a photo of myself to get a good feel for what my hair and skin are like--really above and beyond, in my opinion. Beke's studio is super chic and adorable. She made me feel right at home. I literally could have spent all day talking to her--she is incredibly thoughtful and hilarious! I deferred to her expertise with my "look" and was amazed by the result. I felt absolutely beautiful and was so confident for my shoot when I walked out the door. My photographer was impressed beyond belief too. Oh, and did I mention she even called my cab for me?! If you book your hair and make-up with anyone other than Beke for a special occasion in your life, you are obviously insane. I'm not kidding.

It took me many years to realize that I was a person who felt best if I got some regular waxing…read more(lip and brows). For years, I lived in Boston and cultivated a great relationship with an esthetician up there. Then I moved to Philly and was like, "Crap. Now I have to work ALL OVER AGAIN to find a person who does great work *and* whom I want to see literally once a month for the rest of my life." It was a delight to find Chrissy and Cure de Repos! She does an amazing job with the waxing. She's always happy to chat, and it's wonderful to get great service (she's a self-described perfectionist, which is... exactly what you want from someone doing facial waxing) from someone you have a wonderful rapport with. There are lots of products to buy there if you want them, and I appreciate that no one has ever done a hard sell to me. However, when Chrissy noticed me eyeing the deodorant they sell, she gave me a great personal recommendation, and I did wind up trying it out. It turned out to be excellent. So I suspect the other stuff is pretty good, too! :)
