Especially if that dog is more than a few months old and is considered a large breed dog. I am getting ready to take graduation photos with my doggo this weekend & I brought my dog Gio here for his first professional grooming, willing to pay whatever was needed to pay in order for him to get groomed. I spent days looking for the perfect groom shop and decided to go with this one because of it's many good reviews. As soon as the owner heard that this was Gio's first time ever getting professionally groomed and that he was almost 3 years old, the owner was already giving iffy vibes. My gut told me that this was not going to end well because of how serious and doubtful the owner was but I blew it off and trusted that Gio would do great. Gio gets groomed at home at least once a month, he is an inside dog, he is not afraid to get wet, maybe a bit nervous but he never fights the grooming. We de-shed him at least once a week as well as air blow him with a very loud shock vacuum and he does great, the worst thing he does is try to eat the air, which in my opinion is pretty normal for a dog. Yes I could have groomed him myself but I truly wanted him to look his very best for the photo session. With this being said, yes this is Gio's first time getting professionally groomed but it is not his first time ever getting groomed. I live in Hereford Texas, about 55 minutes away from the grooming shop, the drop off for the morning was from 7:30-8 AM, I was on the road by 6:45 AM, drove the hour just for Gio to be inside the building for less than 10 minutes before they already had him by my car door saying that he was not cooperating. There are groomers in Hereford, there are also groomers in Canyon but I decided to go the extra mile to make sure Gio got the best services and it completely back fired. By 8:05 AM we were already on our way back home. Another 55 minute drive. In my opinion, this shop is only good at grooming dogs who have been groomed since the pup stages and are small and manageable. So like I said, if this is the first time your dog has ever been groomed professionally, this is NOT the shop for you. & if you got to the very end of this review I highly recommend trying Shaggy to Chic Dog Enhancement Center located on Western here in Amarillo, I contacted them and told me about my experience here at Bark Avenue and they were extremely helpful and confused as to why this shop owner would even agree to groom Gio if they weren't comfortable doing it. The worst part about this whole experience is that my graduation photos are this weekend and Bark Avenue completely wasted my time, I am in a position where there are no appointments available anywhere else until next week. So thank you so much Bark Avenue, for wasting my time. I would have appreciated it WAY more if you told me no when I called you last week.

I called a friend to pick him up first thing the next morning because I had a bad feeling. She said everything was up front and Peanut was in the back with nothing of his. As they were checking in my dogs I asked if there was a good steak restaurant around. They all agreed on a place and printed directions for us. (That was extra nice). When we picked up the dogs things were not that great. First of all they tried to charge us for two days instead of one night (we dropped them off around 1pm and picked them up at 8am the next morning). We got that corrected and my dogs were brought out. They seemed fine. I asked how all the dogs were seeing that there was a storm the last night. She said it was crazy when she got in this morning. I know my dogs are afraid of storms so I wondered how the managed it without anybody there. We forgot our dog bed so my husband went back inside to get it (they didn't even say anything about it when they brought out the dogs). Well my guess is that they didn't want to address what happened. It was completely soiled with urine. I guess my dogs did get scared it the storm ... or were not let out enough. They put it in a plastic bag and we were on our way. I don't know if I will ever use them again. I wish that when we picked them up that soiled dog bed was brought up, otherwise it looks like they were trying to hide something.
