Before you book, be aware that... - The venue no longer provides help in the set up of tables and chairs (they did previously) - You must do the set up, tear down and clean-up for your whole event (for full service caterers, they may clean up their portion of the venue use, but otherwise everything else is on you and who you delegate) - Their decor allowances are quite strict (no tape anywhere, no blowing bubbles down the aisle, no fog machines or anything of the like inside and more strict on what you can do outside, etc.) - They made lots of structural changes to their courtyard area, make sure you visit before your wedding as this may change your decor plans (and there are no updates on this type of info) - If you book a Saturday event during wedding season, be warned you will not be able to enter their dressing rooms until after their farmers market has ended--which means you'll need to stay close to the venue or get a hotel/airbnb for you, friends, guests as needed (hair/makeup or showers for folks helping you set up) - During our event, all the mics they made available to us died (once in the middle of the ceremony, once during our thank you speech, once during a toast...) - They also did not set up a projector screen after multiple confirmations with us (only they are allowed to set this up) If I were to do it again, I'd recommend just investing that time and money you'd be spending here on a venue that does more of it all-inclusively. You'll be able to spend more time with family, friends and enjoy yourself more on your wedding day. This is a great venue for smaller parties, keeping decor very simple or larger parties with buffet style dinners.

The is a kitchen with a refrigerator just in case you plan to use it. They also offer a mic on request and/or you could play music. There is ample parking at the location. The janitor will clean up after the event for a flat fee of $120. The office manager was helpful and the rate was reasonable. That said there are a few things to note. The tables they provide are rectangular and are really long (8 feet I believe). They have 5 round tables, which are smaller than the regular size tables you would find at other banquet halls. The men's bathroom location is strange and is visible to the guests. Our decorator did a great job hiding the entrance from the hall (since there is another back entrance) and arranging the tables. Also, the music system is inside a room. If you plan to change music/songs, say while playing games, you will need a dedicated person inside the room and another person just to instruct when to stop/play the music, unless you bring a really long jack to connect with the receiver. I thought that was inconvenient. Last but not the least, they have a stage, but its fairly dark. Make sure to bring your own lights if you plan on using it. Overall, I would recommend this place.

Beware of Renting Blakely Hall in the Issaquah Highlands…read more On Saturday October 12, 2024, my wife and I rented Blakely Hall in the Issaquah Highlands (operated by the Highlands Council) to host a baby shower for our son and daughter-in-law with about 30 friends and family in attendance. We reserved the hall for 4 hours from 10 AM to 2 PM at an hourly rate of $150, or $600 total for the event. The guests of honor were late arriving at the shower (they had a couple of errands to run), and so we stayed a bit beyond 2 PM to finish cleaning up. A few days later we received an e-mail from the manager of the facility saying that we had stayed an extra 38 minutes. Per their policy, they rounded that up to 1 hour and charged us twice the normal hourly rate for being tardy vacating the facility, or an extra $300. We tried calling them twice to discuss what happened, but they never returned our calls. We then e-mailed them to explain what happened and to see if we could get the overage charge reduced (per their website we could have simply added an extra hour for $150 when we made our reservation). We agreed that an extra $150 was warranted for not leaving by 2 PM but that doubling the charge to $300 seemed punitive and unfair. They replied that doubling the hourly rate as a penalty was their policy and they would not work with us to lower the charge. We never heard from them again. I would caution anyone thinking about using this facility either to look for an alternative venue or at the very least be aware of the onerous way that the facility is managed and plan accordingly. We will certainly never use this facility again or recommend it to anyone.

I come to Blakely Hall once a month for the Issaquah Poker Club monthly tournament. It's a great…read morevenue space and it's always so clean and well kept. This is a feat when 50-60 men and women bring their own beers and bar snacks all gather together and leave crumbs and debris on the floor. The cleaning staff here do a great job here. The open space in Blakely Hall is a great spot if you want to host a shower, birthday party, auction, or a charity event. It's spacious and we're able to fit 8 full size poker tables with room to spare. There's also a large kitchen with two french door refrigerators and ovens, so if you're planning on catering a party, you can do that as well. Blakely Hall is located in the Issaquah Highlands near residential area. It's tucked in a place with lots of houses and townhomes. The positive is that there's plenty of street parking and you're in a safe area with plenty of foot traffic. I love coming here once a month to play poker. It absolutely beats playing in a garage or an old hall built in the 1950's with no heat or air conditioning. It's not like I'm playing in a players-only club from the movie Rounders, but I enjoy a nice clean modern venue. If you're looking for a spot to host an event, check out Blakely Hall.

Layout wise, they have a decent size multi-purpose room with kitchen. It is big enough to have a low height stage, and its capacity is 150 guests. They have three conference rooms that also acts as meeting rooms or classrooms. These spaces are available for rent. The online link has photos of these spaces. A reception area with a few couches and a bookcase is just inside the entry. I have seen people, young and old on these couches, mingling, and just hanging out here at all hours. They offer senior activities during the daytime, as well as community classes throughout the day and evening. I have taken yoga classes as well as a stretching class. The class catalog is available online. Both Kirkland and non-Kirkland residents can sign up. During special occasions, they host bigger events for the greater community. The most recent is a Lunar New Year celebration with children's activities indoors inside the community center, the kitchen offered spring rolls to snack, the adjacent teen center building held performances, and a Chinese Lion Dance team entertained everyone outdoors on a beautiful day. Doug and Penny have major attention to detail and always have the bride and groom at the center of decision making. We did have an unfortunate event occur at some point during the day. The Grooms Suite was robbed and all the groomsmen (including groom) had items stolen including phones, keys, wallets, and bags. We even had a groomsman get his car stolen. The bridal party kept it from us to make sure we still had the best day ever, but it was still very traumatic and deeply upsetting. It was disappointing to find out the venue did not have any working camera security system (we were told it was an older system that wouldn't connect to their new phones) or secure place for the boys to put their valuables. After speaking with the owners the following day, they verbally expressed that they'd be installing better camera security systems, a safe in the grooms suite bolted to the wall to keep valuables, and barbed wire lining the fence line behind the grooms suite to detract intruders. This made us feel confident they were taking proper precautions to prevent this type of incident in the future. The wedding industry in the greater Seattle area is very small so it didn't take long for us to be put in contact with another couple just a few days later who had also gotten robbed the year prior. After connecting with them, it was clear the incidents were not related. However, they were also told by the venue that they installed new security system and a lock on the grooms suite (which our bridal party was never told about to utilize for our event). We were concerned that if this other couple had been told those things, then why a year later was the "new" security system too old to work or connect to their phones? We reached back out to Penny and Doug to clear the air and get confirmation they actually were implementing the changes they promised us several days prior. We were met with a very defensively toned email placing blame on our bridal party for not utilizing the lock (which we were never told about and never given a code to) and blaming our groomsmen for leaving their valuables unattended (which they did not, our coordinator - who happens to be affiliated with the venue - took all our groomsmen's valuables as they were lined up for the ceremony and placed them in the unlocked grooms suite herself.) They also provided 4 photographs in the email response: - the lock that was installed after last years incident (the lock we weren't provided a code for) - a box of barbed wire that they were planning to install (at the time of the email, it presumably hadn't been installed yet) - screenshots of the view of the security system they installed last year (again, why did it magically not work on the night of our event) - a tiny lock box that's small enough to walk away with (note, it's not bolted to the wall in the grooms suite like they previously told us they'd be doing) My husband and I have remained patient and understanding through this whole situation because we truly understand that this type of incident can happen anywhere. What doesn't sit right with us is the resistance to prevent something like this from happening in the future. It happened to us and it's unfortunate and we're moving on and remembering the good parts of our day. But at the end of the day it would eat us alive if it happened to another couple and we didn't do everything in our power to prevent that because it's been an absolute nightmare (at the time of writing this review, the stolen car has still not been recovered) This is not a review to avoid Carey Gardens. To reiterate, they took the absolute best care of us. However, we felt it would be a disservice not to warn future brides and grooms to please please take advantage of the new safety features that Doug and Penny have claimed they're installing.
