I have been here a couple of times, namely because I used to live nearby, but honestly, I am now scratching my head trying to work out why I would do such a thing. Really, there isn't all that much about this place that merrits me manking any further comments about it.

Lockdown restrictions over, I now get to check out the local and surrounds. Found the Summerhill…read moreHotel on a quest to Marco's, the fabulous supermarket next door. The Summerhill is a Casino-chic, restaurant and bar that caters for a wide variety of people. While I'm not a gambler, I do appreciate the "Vegas" sign up in lights as it reminds me of my time in The States. There is a centralised, massive tv and various mix-sized screens for sports watching. The bar staff are friendly, and have a neighbourly vibe. They are attentive, and act on requests (ie channel changes on the tv to specifics sports - with sound!). Brilliant for watching the game, whether it be footy, NFL, basketball, cricket etc. The bar selection is standard, but could do with more variety in beer (suggestions could be draught from other states, increased international selection from USA, UK and Europe). The kitchen is run by an iron chef that impressively caters for over 40 tables. Had a flat white coffee while here, prepared by Neysa ... and it was superb; easily rivalling boujee coffee shops. Since this is Reservoir, a place desolate for good coffee; I was ecstatic to make this discovery. Like finding an oasis in the desert. Will be back, will become a member!

Well, I…read moreprobably shouldn't be too surprised considering that it does happen to be a local pub, and many of these local pubs are well, basically for the locals. It is a shame that it isn't too close to the station, and in fact it is tucked out of the way, probably an attempt to avoid my scruitiny. Oh, and the fact that I had to actively search for somebody to serve me puts me off this place as well.

Needing a nice place to go big enough for our extended family to celebrate our daughter's fifth birthday, we decided on The Roxy. Booking at this place is serious business and you're required to pay a deposit of $15 per person which was a surprise to me, but I'm all for organisation so that was fair enough. I did get a bit frustrated though when I realised I'd missed a message from the booking coordinator, the week of my daughter's birthday to confirm if we were still going. I even had a timeline to get back to them, and frantically called them back a day after the deadline when I finally listened to the message. Considering I'd paid over $200 as a deposit, we were definitely going to be there! The staff are fantastic though and the place runs like clockwork. Pity my family and I don't. We were booked in for 7:00pm and bookings went for 1.5 hours so we had to vacate by 8:30. Unfortunately because there were so many of us and because we paid separately by the time we were seated it was closer to 7:30 so time was limited. The bistro offers a buffet style, International all you can eat feast. Being sceptical of large buffet's and how fresh the food is, I was truly impressed by the taste, variety, flavour and quality of the food. Not one of our 20 guests complained and we all went up at least three times. From pizza and pasta, Chinese, seafood, roasts, salads, Mediterranean dishes and then on to desserts, tea and coffee - The Roxy is the perfect place to please everybody's tastebuds! I was delighted to see how often the food was turned over and fresh food brought out; and each station was manned by it's own Chef and servers making the occasion even better. I must say we were all disappointed by the lack of time we had because the food was that darn good, we didn't want to stop! The only downside to the evening was when the Waitress brought out my daughters 'surprise' birthday cake right out in front of her before we were ready; which was a shame considering the same girl had done a terrific job hiding it all night. A magnificent place to eat, drink and enjoy the company of good friends and family. With a terrific indoor play area for kids and great promotions for special occasions such as Mothers Day and Christmas, The Roxy has become my local.
