From the initial phone call with the owner Valencia , to the staff was a great experience. Valencia…read more, assured me over the phone that my niece's hair and well being would be taken care of . She listened to my concerns and I didn't feel rushed . I expressed to Valencia , the concerns of the braider being child friendly and that I could bring my own braiding hair . She stated that bringing my own hair was absolutely acceptable. Since the makeup of her clientele is children ages 3-18, she assured me the staff would be understanding of my nieces needs. She was so nice over the phone and answered all of my questions. It was very simple to book the appointment with a 25.00 deposit to hold her spot . As the appointment time was near I received reminder text messages until the last 30 minutes to the appointment time. If you set an appointment with Kiddos and forget the date and time , it's definitely your fault . The text messages may have been automated possibly, but regardless it will be your fault for sure . There is an open parking lot and it's relatively small but It wasn't difficult to find parking . The shop is located on a one way street. Therefore beware that same way you came will not be the same direction you will leave . Just for your information ( during this time period) the road adjacent to the shop is under construction as well . I can imagine that causing frustration on a busy time of day . Thankfully , appointment wasn't on a very busy day . When I arrived , there were only two clients which were children of course . I don't think I've ever been to a salon where it's child based. The braiders acknowledge our presence when we walked in and advised me to sign in at the front desk upon arrival. The manager informed me that the assigned braider was on her way . Once she arrived she walked right over to us with a smile . She introduced jerked as Alexis and she took my niece to the back for a shampoo . Typically she's afraid to get her hair shampooed but she was calm and excited to get her hair done. Ms. Alexis , was very nice to her and talked to her the way anyone that's experienced with children should . She addressed me as Auntie since I told her I was her aunt . Which was perfect , so that my niece wouldn't address me by my first name , later on. As a content creator I took video of the experience ( no other kids were recorded ) In fact my nieces face wasn't exposed as well. I asked Ms. Alexis if she was ok with being on film . She obliged. It was an over all great experience! Ms. Alexis was so nice and friendly as the other braiders . We all laughed together and told a few jokes . It was all appropriate around children . They made me feel like we'd been attending the salon for years . I fact there were children who had been coming for hair services for years . The children were so cute . I love children and I think it's nice to have a salon catered just for them . It should be a barber shop only for children . When Ms. Alexis finished her hair. It was so beautiful. She had a pretty blue bow in her hair which was free with a hairstyle. She was photo ready for sure ! She smiled and loved her hair . As we left the other braiders assured her she was pretty in her new hairstyle. I thought that was so nice of them . All of the ladies there who were braiding hair that day were so talented . They really knew their stuff! What touched me the most is seeing fathers bringing their daughters in for hair services. Some carried their little princess in their arms . As a society , we don't give fathers their flowers enough. There's some great dads out there. Shout out to the dads who bring their girls to kiddos !! It was so nice to see. I will be bringing my niece back !!

I brought my daughter here for her very first hair cut and we were greeted by Keniesha. She was…read morekind and welcoming. The salon itself was very clean and such a fun space - perfect for kids. My child chose the Frozen themed Jeep to sit in, chose a movie to watch, and Keniesha then washed and cut her hair. My child was able to choose which scented shampoo her stylist would use as well. She received a certificate, lollipop, hair gems, a pink manicure, a pink ring and a balloon. My child had such a fun and simple experience! Very easy and simple to book online. They offered free water bottles during your service, sold tons of merch and toys, and also sold Dippin' dots ice cream. They had a space for small children and also an area for older kids/teens in need of a haircut/trim.

Marjorie was the stylist for my child's hair. This is the fourth time I've booked with Sharkey's…read moreCuts. I booked the same service as I have done in the past. Marjorie asked what needed to be done on my child's hair. I stated wash and trim ends. Marjorie proceeds to state that I should have called and booked for a 30-minute appointment; didn't' know that exist and not mention on the website. She did not suggest that I rebook the appointment for the best time to accommodate my child. Granted my child is mixed and has thick, curly short hair, but it has never been applied in the past. Marjorie started on his hair and stated that she may need to stop to assist customers that arrived for their scheduled appointment time. There would be a detangling fee but never stated the amount of the fee until it was time for me to pay. Again, have been to Sharkey's on previous occasions and have never been charged a detangling fee nor is the fee mentioned on the website. Marjorie finished my child's hair, and I was charged $90 ($45-miscellaneous; $45 detangling fee). Apparently, the detangling fee is $15 for every 10 minutes which is absurd. I have not had the best experiences with Sharkey's in the past. But I thought, new stylist, new store manager, possible better experience. I was wrong. Based on this experience, I truly feel that Sharkey's does not cater to textured hair at least without charging a ridiculous fee. Sharkey's Cuts will never ever receive my business again!!!!!!

This was my first time at this salon. As a dad walking in to get his daughters hair done, it can…read moresometimes be an event but nope not here. So here's the story... Got my times mixed up and arrived 30 minutes late though I thought I was on time. Both my little queens were scheduled to get their hair done at the same time so I was missing both heads. When I attempted to check in, MiMi, who was sitting at check in today, let me know that I had missed my appointment. For me in moments like this you have to own your part and hold yourself accountable and NOT expect anything in return. So I simply apologize for the time I might have wasted time by having the stylist wait. I was also prepared to forfeit my deposit because the stylist should be paid for their time. Mimi looked for ways to accommodate me as I prepared to schedule and leave. Up walks the stylists (Chrissy and Diamond) each taking one of my girls and doing their hair. I do understand that I got lucky that maybe the style was quick or that a cancellation may have come through but either way I was filled with gratitude. I was filled with even more as the did the girls hair with any noise or whimpering. Even when the tablet died, they simply sat there and enjoyed the pampering. After the hair was done they got to pick their bows and grab a lollipop. Mimi explain more about how future appointments would make it easier to fit both girls in at the same time. She even show so much patience as I had to call the wifey on speakerphone to schedule future appointments. The moral of the story for me was it matters how you own your mistakes with condition and take care of those when you can because life is a full circle.

I normally don't leave reviews like this but my voice needs to be heard. My experience yesterday…read morewas not good at all. I booked an appointment with Dimee for child for scalp braids no added hair. After she washed my child's hair she began to comb her hair. She was combing her hair extremely hard from the root. Pulling at her hair. My child was crying with tears coming down her eyes. When I saw this I said to her " You are combing too hard" Her response was" Well, she has a lot a hair and she needs a trim". She then proceeds to tell me "She has a lot more hair than her sisters". This does not justify you to comb her hair so hair that she is crying! Especially with a hot blow dryer. Her response to me, her attitude and her demeanor was very mean spirited and didn't make me or my child feel good. If the issue was that her hair was too thick or needed to be detangle then why was she not offered any treatments like a detangling spray or even a conditioner to help with the detangling? The only option was to comb it hard? She is 11 years old and has never cried at any hair appointment and she was crying because she was in pain! That speaks volume. At the end of the appointment I was charged $20 for an "intricate hair design". I was told this is because her style had more than 3 designs in it. She had 2 hearts in the front and the 2 hearts on the side and then the hair was braided up. I already paid $90 for mid back length now and extra $20 for a style that I actually found on the hair salons instagram page. My daughters have gotten this same style at the Cumberland location and I was never charged an extra $20? If this style was an extra $20 then why was I not informed this when I showed her the picture before we started? I really do believe I was charged extra out of spite for speaking up when I told Dimee she was combing too hard. This felt personal. I'm already paying $90 for a style so why charge me an extra $20? It's sad, I have been coming here for almost 3 years with all my 3 girls faithfully, once a month and never have I left feeling so bad like this.
