Pressed Roots is literally an answer to a prayer! So many times I've seen those blow-dry bars and wished there was something for us (Black) girlies with textured hair and now we have it! First let's start with the vibe/ ambiance... it's *chefs kiss* It's giving upscale & lavish! The moment you enter you feel calm. I was greeted by a sweet hostess who checked me in and offered me a drink... mimosa please! I was called back right away and was done in less than 1.5 hours (I added on a trim). I do wish my girl would've scrubbed my scalp a little better during my shampoo but I was too scared to speak up. Overall it was a great experience & now I finally have somewhere to get my hair done in Arlington! Thank you! Small note: if you see a "service charge" that is the 18% tip. I am a tipper so this didn't bother me but I just wanted to give a heads up. read more

Whoever is at the front desk is terrible at their job. I was on the waitlist , they called to say I could have an appointment and then called back to ask for deposit (why they didn't ask for that initially is beyond me) I was tied up at the moment so I said let me call you back and give it to you. When I called back she says I just talked to you 10 minutes ago so now the appointment is gone. Not just my 330 appointment but every single appointment between 1-330 which she had just said were available. I say wow okay and get off the phone. She then calls back 4 minutes later to schedule the appointment. I was literally so confused? It was as if she didn't realize she had JUST told me she didn't have any. Then when I asked she nonchalantly said we moved some things around.... That doesn't even make sense. She wasn't apologetic at all and it was just overall confusing so I declined all together. Every time I go there I'm pleased with my hair but the whole point of the service is for it to be easily accessible and if it's a hassle to book the appointment in the first place it totally defeats the purpose. read more

The stylists are fine. However, the front desk and concierge are deplorable to say the least. The accountability is non existent. I followed the procedure to cancel my membership however it was not canceled. I then contacted the Arlington Heights location directly and was misled to believe that the issue would be resolved and that I would have 30 days to use any remaining credits. Apparently, the way they use a calendar and the way I use one is different. There was no notation of my conversation with the previous person and the accommodation that was offered was complimentary add ons and not the $75 credit due to me. I am usually an understanding person but incompetent customer service wrecks my last nerve. read more

When visiting Texas for the first time, my bi-racial daughter wanted her hair straightened for a concert. Upon doing some searching and reading reviews, I stumbled upon Pressed Roots! I booked an appointment online and paid a deposit (the deposit amount does come off the total bill at the end). The day of the appointment came and Apple Maps took me around the corner from the actual salon. The salon is across from Whole Foods, incase you get confused as I did. We checked in and within a few minutes, Ms. Danielle took her back and began the process. And thank goodness for Danielle and her willingness to complete the task! A little longer than 2 hours later, the hair was straight and exactly how she wanted it! I can't express my extreme gratitude for Danielle. Her patience and talent did not go unnoticed. read more

I'm so glad a location opened in between Dallas and Fort Worth! I have been to the Dallas location several times. Pressed Roots is like a DryBar for naturally curly and textured hair except you don't have to request a specific stylist with experience, you don't have to explain your hair texture beforehand, and you don't have to worry about them ruining your hair. I've been twice now and had a great experience. Although I do have a regular stylist, it's sometimes easier to get a quick appointment here any day of the week. The decor is absolutely beautiful and similar to the Dallas location. Pink and gold accents, plenty of of mirrors, and comfortable chairs. They're bathroom is really pretty too, lol. If you have naturally textured hair and you want it straightened go here. read more

The locations are perfect for me, my mother, sister and my niece ...the service is like a family gathering with a R&B vibe.. the playlist is not the only reason to visit...my hair is detangled with care, scalp massage is over due and my 85 years young mother loves the attention for every visit ...consistently awesome service! Negative stars. My sister went to get her hair washed at this HAIR salon. They not only refused service to her loudly, causing her great embarrassment, but they did so under some nonsense reason. They claimed she had a fungal infection which would cause them to disinfect their tools. Which was not only ignorant and false but also showed the complete lack of professionalism and overall knowledge of the so-called hair professionals at this establishment. My sister has a chronic skin condition like I do and millions of other people which is treatable but certainly not contagious and has been dealt with hundreds of times, in my personal experience, just fine at any other reasonable hair salon. This is 2024 and to shame someone for a medical condition is pathetic, it is ignorant and it should not be tolerated. read more

I never have been the one to come and write a review but after today.. I am not happy at all. I have been going to Pressed roots for some years but I usually go to the Dallas location. I have never had a issue there. Today I went to the Arlington location since they had an opening. I was turned away due to my hair being "Inflamed" which was diagnosed by the stylist and not by a dermatologist. i was then told i would have to be seen by a dermatologist before i could get serviced. The part that really got me was I didn't get any work done to my hair and sat in the chair for all of 3 minutes and can't get my $50 back. I didn't cancel my appointment, i was on time, and was turned away because of something i told them happens while they did the scalp analysis. Paid $50 to get turned away... that is terrible. read more

Always had a good experience at the Dallas location. had a terrible experience at Arlington location and the issue was never resolved and I contacted customer service email and no one ever replied after 3 weeks. I also requested my membership to be cancelled and they did not cancel it so I had to send another request. Very rude, disgusting, unprofessional behaviors to not resolve a customer complaint or grant request to cancel membership. if you ever have an issue know it will not be resolved and there is no customer service phone number only email. Pressed roots experience On 1/4/23 my daughter and I entered pressed roots hair salon in Arlington for her 6pm appointment. Once we walked in we were told that our stylist was not quite ready for us and was finishing up another client and if u have ever been at a black salon that is normal. I had no problem waiting because me and my daughter Brielle were just happy to be there, this was going to be my daughters first experience getting her hair pressed . She has been natural for 8 years and we were ready for the salon experience something every little black girl anticipates . Once the stylist was ready ( about 25 min after my appointment time ) we headed to the seat, Brielle told the stylist it was her first time and the stylist encouraged me to make a tik tok and take before and after pics and I eagerly did just that .. once the stylist took my daughters hair out of her ponytail she informed me that any detangle that takes longer then 5 min will be a extra fee, which I told her was completely fine I will pay any fee that comes with this service. 20 minutes later around 7pm the stylist came up to me and states that she is no longer going to be able to finish my child's hair because if the detangling process takes more then 30 min they cancel the whole appointment (Brielle was her last appointment)I HAVE NEVER HEARD OF SUCH A POLICY ESPECIALLY AT A BLACK HAIR SALON AND THERE WAS ONLY THE MIDDLE LEFT TO COMB OUT ..I was in complete shock but kept my cool because I was at their mercy at this point because my child was still in the styling seat thinking her hair was going to b done .I proceeded to ask questions about what was actually being said to me because I have never in my life experienced this and informed them my child did not have braids before this nor any other protection style . She is simple a black child that has thick coarse hair, she is not a little white girl or mixed girl and yes you can not just slide the comb through her hair thats why I came to BLACK professionals. I continued to let them know I was willing to pay anything just please do my child's hair, she has school tomorrow and I drove 35 min for this appointment . The stylist told me they close at 8 and don't have time . Remind u, when I came ON TIME to my appointment the client before me was still getting her hair done and that time spilled into our appointment but we couldn't be shown the same grace . When I asked to speak to the manager the stylist called her In front of me and left to the back to finish their conversation. When she came back she said there was nothing they could do for me, my appointment is officially canceled and I will not be getting my deposit back they are an express salon which means they want their clients in and out ..I can't say this enough THIS IS A BLACK HAIR SALON that is humiliating my daughter like this . There was absolutely no sympathy for her at all, no consideration that I drove 35 mins for this appointment, nothing ! They didn't offer to reschedule, didn't offer me my $45 deposit back and obviously wasn't even considering finishing my daughter hair . My child didn't even make it to the shampoo bowl . When I asked again to speak with the manager I was told she is to busy to talk to me and she will call in the morning. I left the shop soo embarrassed for my child, and shocked how these women had no sympathy for my baby . Black women that were basically saying my child's head was too nappy and took to much time to comb out so she had to leave, AGAIN I was not asking them to comb out the junk from an old protective style . The next day I received no call from a manger until the afternoon and that was because I CALLED THEM. The women I spoke with was no better but she offered me the ability to reschedule, two stylists to comb my child head( as if it takes that) and 25% off , which is essentially like 12 bucks off my service after all that was said and done to Brielle and I. The women also told me they are willing to take their time on on other parts of the service but not detangling .. I felt like a black women at a white salon with white women that had never seen black hair to be honest ( but I doubt a white salon would have treated us so harshly) . Let me start off by saying when you have a stylist that is professional and take their time to execute the assignment/service is priceless. My stylist Jhaila, did just that. She took her time, and asked me how I wanted my hair. I'm old school so to me that was a great start in my book. She was energetic and passionate about her craft. I drove 3hrs and was very satisfied and will definitely be back. Not only did she make my hair bouncy and soft she also intensive my beauty. I love how soft, bouncy, a nd shining my hair feels/looks.
