Pressed certainly has a strong collegiate vibe to it. The old coffee house is an American fixture. This one certainly has got the old part covered. From the outside you will note that the building definitely needs a little love, but within you'll find a classic cozy coffee spot for a warm beverage and a tasty brunch. My most recent visit was an early morning where I think we caught them a little off guard. It would seem the college crowd doesn't make it in until after 10 on the weekends. It seems like it is worth it to look them up online and have a good idea of what you want beforehand. This is one of those spots where there is a large menu behind the counter and some small paper menus by request. Basically it forces you into that awkward engagement before you've really had a chance to check things out. A West Coast Breakfast Sandwich on a Bagel with a Mocha hit the spot for me. Portions are modest, so you don't have to worry to much about overeating. It was a nice way to break up the holiday weekend monotony. Perhaps not an every time you visit spot, but a good one every once in a while. read more

Such a disappointment! This was my second time at Pressed this fall. I love a cozy, warm spot to work, eat, and enjoy a hot beverage in while the weather gets colder outside, but ugh, 2 outa 2 for bad service Pressed! Wtf? Folks seem annoyed and disgruntled to answer questions and just engage kindly with customers. The food is WAY overpriced for the small sandwiches, sub-par ingredients, and watered down juice. Avocado toast tasted sweet and was clearly a processed spread, not fresh avocados. Croissants are tiny and seem old and smashed for my tiny egg and cheese sandwich. Same with the bagles! They serve fresh squeezed oj and it tasted like they cut it with water then dumped a ton of ice in it! Why? The space is cute, and I really want to like it, but I don't think I'll go back. Everything about this place was awful. I ordered 2 tiramisu lattes and 2 Nutella banana waffles. I was sitting here for 45 minutes with my girlfriend and we finally got fed up and asked what was going on very respectfully and they proceeded to tell us that our waffles were STOLEN. Like we haven't been watching them do nothing but mess around behind the counter the entire time and we did not see a single person make or steal a waffle. Nor did the thing they gave us beep when our supposedly STOLEN waffles were done. Then it took another solid 20 minutes to make our waffles and they weren't even very good. Then after that we were still hungry because we've been sitting here for a century so we got avocado toast which took another 20 minutes. And no they weren't very busy. All of that waiting for very mid food and -$50 out of my bank account. I could've gotten better service, better food, AND MORE food if I went to Waffle House for HALF THE PRICE! "Coffee, tea, and Omarosa" While in the area, and with it happening to be a weekend day, I looked for an indie coffeehouse and found one that was close to YSU - the public university located here and of which Omarosa (Manigault) is an alumna. With hardly anyone around, it was definitely easy to see a little bit of this campus, which is more modern than historical in appearance. And, close to closing time for Pressed Coffee Bar and Eatery, there was not much of a crowd in there. I saw that Pressed Coffee serves up nice breakfast and lunch platters. Had I not just eaten a late breakfast, I would have ordered one. So, I instead got a cup of hot tea and a chocolate brownie. First, the coffeehouse, located in this two-story Victorian house, is really funky and interesting. And, inside, it's nicely finished and you will want to sit a spell. The Earl Grey tea was steeped by the employee in accordance with which cup size (don't be getting any ideas) you order. The baked goods, of which there are numerous to choose from, weren't right out of the oven close to closing, but my chocolate brownie was moist and tasty. (I shouldn't be eating this stuff, but I sometimes cave in when I get coffee or tea.) Lastly, I wanted to mention that the service went above and beyond what one usually gets at a coffeehouse bordering a campus just about anywhere. Here, the young lady helping me with my order was also helpful with information about the campus and the area in general. If at Pressed Coffee at times during which the meters are operating, they have a free parking lot in the back! If outside of metered hours, you can just park out front. Whether in their parking lot or in the coffeehouse, you are sitting on a knoll above this older downtown and are essentially enjoying two relics. One is the Victorian coffeehouse itself and the other is this funky, sleepy downtown where the undulations and potholes in the roads will send your car's suspension into a state of bewilderment. For the four words "Coffee, tea, and Omarosa," Pressed Coffee Bar and Eatery gets four stars from me. read more

We had the most wonderful experience here this morning! So many great things! Breakfast offerings were perfect for my family. Waffles for my husband and son and oatmeal for me! My iced coffee was perfect! The vibe inside was eclectic and cozy. The service was friendly and efficient. They had green whipped cream on the waffles for St Pat's Day...such a cute touch! Charming atmosphere. A great location to meet up with friends, get some homework done, read a book or meet with colleagues. The coffee menu is pretty standard and there is nothing wrong with that. My macchiato was created with care, even though the line of customers stretched to the door. The menu is formidable and has things to offer a variety of tastes. The whole grain toast was delicious. So for anyone wondering what a $9 avocado toast from this place looks like save your money. My daughter ordered to go got all the way home and opened her box to this joke. When she called to point it out, they offered her 50 CENTS off another meal. Like seriously? We normally support small businesses but this is a joke. Of course after driving 30 minutes home and having to go work is she going to drive back out there for the avocado. They seriously left off the most important part of the order, which left the piece of bread hard and cold. Needless to say neither of us will be ordering or recommending this place. I live in DC and flew to Pittsburgh for a family gathering for the weekend. I have family in Youngstown and being so close I could not pass the opportunity to see them. I was confident after looking at the photos that this would be a good place to brunch and boy was I right. Apprehensively, my family was suspect because they thought they knew of every place in town. I convinced them. And they were pleasantly pleased and said they would return. The food was by far the best I've had in a while. I'm pretty picky. I have the Carmel Apple Waffle. I didn't have to give any disclaimers of how I like my waffle. It exceeded my expectations being soft and fluffy and just delicious. It truly tasted like a Carmel apple without the sticky bite. It was so good I dreamt about it. I'm interested in taking another trip just to come back to this place. Everyone ordered something different and their food look just as good. I wish I would have taken a picture and tasted it, so I can tell the tell. Be sure to try the smoothie it was delicious as well. This place is a secret no one should keep. I really love this place and I was so excited to go get a waffle for Sunday brunch. I was really happy because they did have a really good fruit blend that wasn't full of cantaloupe and honeydew. My boyfriend, my friend, and I were on YSU's campus for an event and needed to grab a bite to eat, so we decided to try this place out. We had heard good things about it before; however, we were all pretty disappointed with the service and the food. The staff member was not at the counter to greet us when we arrived, and remained in the back for some time before coming out to take our order. After ordering, it took us 20 minutes to get our food to go, which was pretty excessive to just warm up three simple sandwiches. During this time, the staff remained in the back yet again, and a few customers came in and had to wait around just like us. When we did finally get our food, all three sandwiches were extremely burnt. We did not have time to even consider having them remake it and wait another 20 minutes, so we just left. Although I have heard others have had a good experience here, I don't really plan on going back. Next time I am on campus and need to grab food, I will likely go to Subway instead. read more

Oh my this place does it right- I'm a coffee snob and am so impressed that they offer French pressed coffee here (not to mention cold brew, drip, and espresso). So 5 stars on the delicious variations of coffee, and 5 stars for originality of the shop itself. It's set in a really cool ornate old building on YSU campus, which I'm guessing has some fascinating history to it. Now I'm somewhat of a fitness guru and I do not recommend eating waffles/pancakes first thing in the morning...... That said, when I come to Pressed, I get their freaking waffles because THEY'RE SO WORTH IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Omg one bite and you'll know what i'm talking about. And if all that wasn't enough, the customer service is absolutely outstanding. I always drop them at least a $5 tip to show my gratitude. If you come in with a bad mood, they'll put you in a good mood with their cheery bright attitudes. Out of the three (soon to be four) coffee shops in the downtown area, this is the worst. Their food is good, but overpriced. The barista's don't really seem to know much about coffee, I asked the girl taking my order if a specific coffee was a medium or a light roast. She had no idea and turned around and asked someone else, who also did not know. I feel like it gets a lot of praise for it's location. If this shop was further downtown and had to compete with the other two they'd lose. read more
