The Press Box in Missoula Montana is a favorite spot for locals, students from the University of Montana and visitors. It's a multi level sports bar with a small casino attached. We stopped in for breakfast twice during the week and the food and service were consistently very good. Everything was cooked to order and the prices are very reasonable. 3.25 stars. read more

I have driven past this place so many times over the years but have never stopped. It's located within a short distance from the University of Montana (about a 5 minute walk, if that). We stopped here today to have some lunch. This is the first restaurant/bar I've eaten at since having Covid, and my taste is not fully back. I have always been hesitant about eating here due to the many negative reviews and also for it being known as a college bar. Despite that, the food was decent and the service was good. We came during lunch hour and they weren't busy at all. There were about 4 tables that were being used by customers but that's about it. The menu had quite a few options and they offer a wide variety of local craft beer. Our waiter was attentive and our food came about 15 minutes after ordering. I ordered a Frisco sandwich and my husband had the Cuban. He loved his and said it was one of the best ones he has ever had. I wish I could give a better review as far as how mine tasted, but like I said, my sense of taste is not back to normal yet. The sandwiches were both very big and we both left full. The fries, unfortunately, tasted like they had been sitting under a warmer for awhile. They were soft and mushy which was a bit unappealing. I would have given an extra star had the fries been fresh. The restaurant/bar is full of Griz football memorabilia. There are several large-screened television's on the walls that were turned to various sports channels. I assume this place must get really busy at night and on weekends but I'm glad we were there when they were much less busy. I do want to give it another try and update my review once my taste is fully back because they had lots of items on their menu I'd like to try. My colleagues and i just got to the hotel. So after a day of traveling, we like to wind down with a drink or two. They both suggested we come here. The place is pretty much you run off the mill sports bar. High top tables, there's a pit area with a pool table and darts. There's a giant bar. Theres also a separate room area with a casino. We settled on a high top. Ordered beers. It was a pretty quiet night, not a lot of stuff going on, so we had a pretty good time shooting the breeze. Seems like a pretty chill spot to me. I thought this place was cool! I am an out-of-towner and I only went once, so I can't speak about the place exactly the same way somebody from Missoula would. All I know is that my server was great and really kind. She definitely took the time to ask about me and how my day was going. She made sure to ask if I needed anything. The tall drinks come in a shiner, which was really cool. The TVs were great, and they showed every single football game. This past Saturday, myself, my wife and our handicapped son decided to grab a bite to eat at The Press Box. I wish would we had never thought about going there as the events that unfolded that day, still have us all shaken to the core, especially our son. Our son, who played football for the Griz in 2011-12, suffered a major brain injury in 2015, which has left him permanently disabled. To aide with his disabilities, he has 2 registered service dogs to assist him wherever he goes. As we walked into the Press Box, I held the door for my son and his dogs and he went in ahead of me. We were immediately met by a man(we later found out his name Matt Warner the manager) who said, "You can't bring those dogs in here, we don't allow dogs in here." I walked in front of my son and told the manager, that these are registered service dogs that assist my handicapped son. He said, "I doesn't matter what they are, we do not allow dogs in here." I calmly said to him, sir, if you are refusing my son service, you are in violation of ADA laws, he responded with, "I don't care, I have the right to refuse service to anyone I choose." At that point, I could see that my son was visibly upset(and he remained that way for the next few days) and he said, "Well, that sucks" and he began to walk out. After getting him and his dogs back into the truck, my wife and I decided to walk back in to get his name and again, inform him how he was violating ADA state and federal laws. Again, this was useless as his response was once again, I don't care, I have the right to refuse anyone service. At that point, the bartender and the female waitress also chimed in saying that same and said, you are not welcomed in here. So, why am I posting this? Just so others in the community can understand the heartless and shameful people that run The Press Box. To refuse service of a handicapped individual only wanting to grab a bite to eat. I have been a faithful customer for 30 years. I went in tonight to enjoy pizza and beer and watch the Yankees. They kept changing the channel away from the game so other customers could watch what they wanted to. Is it because I'm a female and my interests aren't valuable? Very environmentally unfriendly place. I own a car but as Missoula tends to be a very bike friendly town I ride as much as possible. I drive when I need supplies from costco or target to take them home but otherwise I tend to be on my bike. I carry my hydro flask for water and a rain jacket in case I get caught in inclimate weather in my Patagonia backpack. I used to come here and gamble frequently at the casino but since their reopening they don't allow backpacks in. I asked if I could leave it somewhere while I gambled but was told the only place to leave it was the sidewalk by my bike. It's not a cheap backpack and I have things in it I care about. The bartender treated me like crap and told me he wouldn't store my backpack. I'm not sure the reason for this policy...I didn't care if I kept my pack with me I just didn't want it to be stolen as I have a rain jacket, my hydro flask full of water and my the backpack itself. I think the moral of the story is if you drive there this could be a cool place to hang but if you try to reduce your carbon footprint as I do and have been out for the day and want a drink and some relaxation this isn't the place for you. read more

I've been going here for 1.5 years mostly for their breakfast. I always sit at the bar. I went for dinner there tonight and I was blown away with how bad their service was. The bartender hollered at two women as they were leaving the dumbest sexist comment. One of the women was probably out the first entrance door and didn't hear it, but the other woman did and yelled back at him. I could she that she was incredulous. I was too. Went in for dinner and drinks and was served by Alex P, according to the receipt. Ended up leaving early and having my friend meet me elsewhere due to the service. After sitting down and being greeted after a few minutes, I asked for a wine menu. After Alex checking in on me twice within the next fifteen minutes I asked for a wine menu for a second and third time. Finally, I got "We don't have a wine menu." I said ok...well what do you have? "Um...we have sports bar cab and sports bar merlot. You know...." I could see at least 6 distinct red wine bottles behind me, and based on my 4 years experience in the food industry, I could name the vintner and the varietal based on the label and shape of the bottles, alone, for four of these. Not to mention I'm sure they had a similar amount of matching white wines in a fridge somewhere, as well. Based on the fact that the bartender clearly knows nothing of the wine selection, and that the press box allegedly doesn't have a wine list, I opted for beer since I had a feeling the wine in the bottles were probably stale given the lack of attention that's paid to them. For what it's worth, the food was good, but the fact that my server was both too lazy to procure a wine list (pretty confident he just made that up....could have checked the POS system worst case) and couldn't muster the strength to turn around and walk three feet to the wine bottles and read off the labels really soured the experience. I'm honestly shocked that someone who lives off of tips would treat a customer like they are too good to perform the most menial parts of their job. Especially in such a large bar that only had 5 people in it on a Monday night. And to top things off he grabbed the fork off my salad plate with his bare hands, actually touched the tines, and set it on my dinner plate when it came out instead of giving me a new fork, after I watched him shaking hands, tending bar, and handling money...not washing his hands at all in between. Only redeeming quality about this place was the layout. It's a pretty cool space with different levels for different things. This just isn't the best sports bar I've seen. read more

Great place with watch sports in Missoula. They've got a lot of events like Trivia every Wednesday night and they're just as equipped as any sports bar in this town. The menu isn't mind blowing but enough to satisfy your sports bar cravings! They've also got meeting facilities and a lot of seating if you want to host a large group. read more

Large and affordable breakfast menu, friendly service, and lots of TV's all around showing every NFL game.
