Not the best place to fill a prescription, went there on a Saturday before Easter and it was closed. Before that I dropped off a prescription and one of the people working there called me to tell me it was too soon to fill my script that my insurance wouldn't cover, I asked how much it was going to cost they gave me a decent price and told them to fill it, when I went back to pick it up it was 2 times more than what they quoted on the phone. They said sorry and made me pay the higher price. I'm not at all happy with this place. Too bad there isn't a chain drug store in Marfa or Alpine. . read more

I switched from another pharmacy in town I'd been going to all my life. Prescription shop has a convenient drive through pickup, they always fill my meds quickly and accurately, they're always very helpful and friendly. I've encouraged all my friends and family to make the switch too, it's about as easy and stress free as it gets around here for prescriptions. read more

To the previous reviewer, Prescription Shop has been here since before I moved to Alpine in 1996. It's the facility that is new. They used to be about 5 blocks west on Avenue E. I've been using their shop for nearly 14 years, and I've never had anyone be anything close to rude. In fact, I've had nothing but friendly service. And yes, you can be picky in West Texas--we have three independently owned pharmacies in town, and they're all friendly and personal. read more

They go above and beyond to ensure that their customers get what they need. When my daughter had an insurance snafu (her network was changed to El Paso due to a computer glitch and the company said I just had to wait until it worked itself out in a few months) I needed medication that would cost $146 out of pocket. I told them I would pay cash, she needed it. When I got there to pick it up, they had spent a few hours on the phone to the insurance people and got it straightened out for me. They always check in with me if something is amiss. They know who I am when I pull up and always have my things ready. I have had another local pharmacy misfill my meds, make me wait for an hour to pick up something called in, act rude, make mistakes - I have never had these problems with the Prescription Shop. read more

New place in town, okay customer service. Kinda impersonal and slightly rude. Can't be too picky though, in west TX.

The staff are always courteous and the store is very clean. The Prescription Shop's shortcomings could be addressed with a few policy changes and with the adoption of modern customer service technology. The store is one of very few pharmacies to serve a large, rural area, but the limited hours make it difficult to visit the pharmacy during times when most working people have to spare a 1 or 2 hour drive (late evening, lunchtime, or weekends). This wouldn't be so bad if the business had an efficient mail-delivery service, but they do not. They will mail prescriptions if asked, but there is no process to automate monthly prescriptions, request refills online or after-hours, nor does the store offer a way to send medicine that needs to be kept cold. The technology these services would require is not new, and it's a shame that the Prescription Shop's management lacks the vision to see what a boost these services would be to their customer base beyond Alpine. To the store's management: take some pride in the fact that you supply products that literally keep your customers alive and make it just a little easier for your customers to acquire those products - then WE can take some pride in our small, independently-owned pharmacy and won't cheer quite so loud when Walgreens moves in! read more

I was ripped off. I was prescribed a very expensive medication by my dermatologist last week. Since my insurance company does not cover this expense and I'm paying for it, I shopped all of the pharmacies in town and nearby. The Prescription Shop quoted the lowest price by almost $100.00 over any of its competitors. The prices quoted by the local pharmacies were: City Drug - $690.04 Highland Drug - $750.00 Walmart (Ft. Stockton) - $711.00 The Prescription Shop - $618.00 (though on pick up it was actually $775.00) When I went to pick up the prescription, I was told that it would approximately $157.00 more than I was originally quoted. It seems that the clerk had quote the cost of the item rather than the actual selling price ($775.00). Since I am on an aggressive treatment plan and needed to start the medication tonight, I did not have a choice but to pay the extra amount as the medication was not available locally from any other supplier for at least the next 3-4 days. I was not expecting the pharmacy to eat all of their quoting error but they could have at least met me part way. Maybe City Drug's quoted price? Needless to say, I will never shop at this establishment again, no matter what. read more

I drive an hour for my prescriptions. Twice they have not had what I needed, without calling me first. The last time I tried they refused to honor my insurance for a basic, generic medication! I will never go back. Highland Drug took care of my scrips after that. read more

This pharmacy does not answer during lunch hours (when we customers have time to call) and closes early on Saturday!!! While many pharmacies open 24/7. One Saturday I came 10 minutes before closing and the lady refused to fill my prescription, saying "she could not find it." I hope Walgreens comes to Alpine and make competition, Prescription Shop does not seem to want our business. read more
