My last haircut was pre-Covid times so after a year and half of not cutting my hair and resorting to my husband trimming my hair because it got too long, I finally booked a haircut here since it's so easy to make appointments online and I desperately needed a refresh before family photos. Naomi was friendly, efficient and gave me a great hair cut with layers, fixed the home trim boo boos and even curled my hair at the end since I was her last customer and she wanted to give me a little oomph as a send off. I've booked my husband here as well and he also liked his haircut. Don't forget the yelp discount! read more

The Prep staff and salon itself is extremely exceptional. The owner, Marius is understanding and kind towards customers. Lydiann gave me an amazing haircut, did her best to ensure my hair wasn't choppy, and styled it after- no complaints. The space is very clean, well maintained and I loved the modern interior of the salon. Definitely would come back again! read more

Had a haircut today from Rachel. Loved chatting with her and I appreciated her consulting me on every single step including every service I paid for. She wanted to make sure I knew what I signed up for as well as if I truly needed it. So I greatly appreciated that! I have long hair and she did a trim and then framed my face. She also styled with a flat iron. She did a scalp treatment. Everything was great. Will come back! read more

First time visit to the salon today and I was recommended by a friend to go to Kelsey! I have a short natural hair cut and Kelsey did amazing She was very patient, professional and she is very meticulous which are things that I absolutely love in a stylist. She asked question and she made me feel so comfortable while I was in her chair. Thank you Kelsey, I'll be seeing you in a few weeks. read more

We took our two and half-year-old toddler for a haircut. The hairdresser was very patient with the kid. Appreciate it! She made him comfortable and gave him enough time to settle. However, I felt she lacked experience and took long for a basic haircut. The overall outcome was not close to what we have shown in the pictures up front. I still gave a pretty decent tip. What threw me off and made me write this review and give two stars is her behavior when I just picked the hair dryer ( I got hairs on me holding my son) to below hairs from me; she almost snatched it from me said it costs $500. That wasn't nice! I put it down right away; however, it made me feel terrible. It ruined my entire experience. I doubt I would like to return to this place or recommend anyone. read more

After the past 6 months of hair cut and color , and actually for the last couple of years, I have been disappointed time after time with the hair dresser I chose.. I was looking at my FB and discovered that I was friends with Naomie from Prep Salon in Walnut Creek.. I made an appointment. Today I walked out of the salon with just exactly what I asked for .... I'm so grateful I finally found a hairdresser that absolutely know her craft... If I could give more that 5 stars I would. I highly recommend if your not satisfied where you have you hair done , please make an appointment with Naomie... she's awesome!!!! read more

Well I have been a customer of Prep's since I lived a few blocks from the SF location. Like 8/9 years. Love the owner and staff out there. My last two appointments I have been 5 and 10 min later because with a 2yr old parking downtown is impossible. I gave myself 20 min to find a spot and it wasn't enough. Parking garage full. It's the holidays so I guess expected. My last third and fourth appointment before this I had to walk around downtown with a toddler because they weren't ready. Not ideal but I'm always nice when they are running behind. I figured we were even. Came at 255 for a 245 and canceled me today and charged me the full 35. A customer with three kids that has been a client for a decade... thought they would at least nicer. The woman (she had glasses and dark hair and is the only person there always in a BAD mood) was so rude. She was sitting behind the counter no other customers and really embarrassed me while holding my baby. We send all of our classmates from three schools there. No longer. It's unfortunate most of the staff is kind and loves our baby. One woman (she has a boy cut and a heart of gold) always gives my little guy stickers and my daughter the most adorable teen cuts. This particular woman today however gives mediocre cuts and always has a terrible attitude. Parking is impossible and apparently they hate toddlers. Today was really disappointing and I won't be going back. I am making sure we tell everyone we know. Please reach out if you know a good spot for cuts in Walnut Creek. Looking for a new spot! read more

I tried Prep Cuts in San Ramon (City Center, Bishop Ranch) since I've been a customer of Prep Cuts in Walnut Creek. The salon was identical to the one in Walnut Creek, although the decor in San Ramon was done to cater more to kids. Prices were the same and the salon was also clean. But the fifth star for this review is that parking was FREE! read more

Vicki is great. She addressed all my hair needs and listened to my concerns. I love my haircut.

Lydiann cuts my hair and it's seriously it's the best cut ever. She's cut my hair for years now and, when I go to someone else because she's not available, it's never the same! Go, have her cut your hair. She'll listen to what you want and make it happen. Tracy colored my hair and it came out waaay too dark due to the existing color on my hair. A few weeks later Tracy waved her magic wand with a color-shampoo-bleach wash (?!?) to remove the color and mixed a new color potion. It looks amazing and I love my new color! I love that she had the expertise to know what she was doing! read more

I have been nervous to find a new stylist, but today Monica blew my mind and did my roots just right. She is so kind and talkative, truly the best hair stylist. My family will definitely be coming here for cut & color from now on, so glad to have someone like her in Walnut Creek! read more

Had a great first experience with Aly at Prep! She listened carefully to what I wanted and as a result I walked out with the perfect cut. Plus, she was fun to talk to and very easy going. Love that I can get a somewhat simple cut in Walnut Creek for under $50. Will definitely go back! read more

Naomi is a rock star! For my first time at Prep, I trusted Naomi with a new cut and lots of fantastic highlights. I couldn't be happier, I found my new hairdresser. Thank you Naomi! read more

Tracy was great! Made me feel comfortable and I loved what she did with my short hair!

I made a last minute hair cut appointment with Jade and she KILLED IT. I've never been happier with my hair length. It's the shortest it's ever been and the healthiest! It wasn't expensive which for walnut creek, is like a needle in a hay stack. Jade took her time to help me and even styled it when she was done! I'll be coming back soon and I can't wait. read more

Everything was excellent! Good atmosphere, nice chat, chill people. Cut was great, no complaints.

Vicki did a fantastic job cutting my long hair back into my A-line cut. I was long overdue. My hair feels so much healthier and looks great!

I visited Prep for the second time today, this time for a haircut, and my excitement about this place continues! Tracy did an amazing job and was very kind and relaxing. Everyone I've met at Prep so far has been incredible. First haircut in my life I haven't regretted! Now I just need to figure out something else to do with my hair so I have an excuse to go back... read more

From the minute I walked in I knew this was the place to be! I was offered a drink (I mean, a real drink lol) and was told that my stylist (Naomi). Would be right with me. I saw Naomi wrapping up with a client and could tell instantly that she had a great personality and takes care of each client. When it was time for me to sit in the chair, she was patient, attentive, and listened to every concern I shared. She even took extra time at the end to carefully blowdry my hair. I will be making another appointment soon - and it will be with Naomi!! read more

Prep in Walnut Creek is the place to go! Got my hair colored there with Naomi and she. Is. Everything! I absolutely loved the positive energy in there. People were chatting, all of the stylists were enjoying themselves and it finally felt like we are getting back to normal after the year of COVID. The salon was spotless, hand sanitizer readily available and social distancing was not a problem. I just can't say enough about my visit to Prep! Thank you! Thank you! THANK YOU Naomi!! I'll definitely be back! read more

One of the worst haircuts I've ever had! Ends look like they were cut with kids' scissors. There is a VERY noticeable difference in length between the front and back. I didn't notice it because of the way the girl styled my hair (which I would never style the same way). Very disappointed. Definitely not going back again. Also didn't like the system of paying before the appointment and leaving a tip via text message. read more

It is great. As an immigrant from eastern Europe I get used to good service everywhere, including hair cut. It was hard for me to find some good place here in Bay Area. Every place was bad. But finally I found the master that do their job perfectly (Kelsey). So I'll continue going here and recommend it to my friends. read more

Monika cut my hair and she did a great job! She listened to what I needed done and gave me lots of great feedback and information to help me decide on my cut. she was so nice and easy to talk to and made the whole experience wonderful. I have already scheduled to go back and have her color my hair. Naomi greeted me and was so friendly and welcoming and got me set up with Monika right away. Prep is clean and has a great atmosphere and is a great location in downtown Walnut Creek. I love my cut and I definitely recommend them! read more

Do not go to PREP and ask for Lydiann if you need a classic men's haircut. I explained to her many times how I wanted my hair and she simply did not follow my instructions. It feels as though she just did what was easiest for her instead of taking time to shape my hair. I asked her to blend the sides and the back and this is what I received. Honestly it's a hack job. I'm very disappointed with the quality of work and do not recommend. read more

I took a chance on Prep & am so pleased with the results! I went to see Naomi & she was very friendly, and easy to talk to. I was in and out in less than an hour and it's by far one of the best haircuts I've gotten. She even spent time showing me how to use the dyson air wrap on my hair since I have straight hair. Sometimes, the stars align and magic happens. That is what happened today, I had the day off and decided that I wanted to go and get my washed out hair color revamped! Of course I jumped on yelp to find a local salon to support and PREP was extremely responsive. They were able to get me in within an hour! I was seen by Sareena today and I HIGHLY recommend her for all of your coloring and cutting needs! My experience was 100% all around satisfactory! From the complementary sparkling water to the delightful conversation to the clean facility I couldn't have asked for a better way to spend my afternoon today. I told Sareena to get creative with my hair, she is after all the stylist and I am but a canvas for the creative work!! She did a really beautiful job blending the colors and she even added some really amazing smoky grays to the tips. I would have never thought to do that! I had such a lovely time, and I can't wait to go back! read more
