We have an excellent oral surgeon here in town that I highly recommend. Healing came quickly post oral surgery thanks to the excellent Oral Surgeon Dr. Martey. One of his front office staff needs to check her behavior at the door to be more kind and patient. The other staff and assistants were all excellent. The reason I know Dr. Martey is excellent, is that I have gone to bad oral surgeons in the past that infected people and where pulling a tooth took weeks to heal instead of days. Santa Rosa was always good, and an Oral Surgeon in Redding is excellent, but Rog or Bog that were here years ago in Eureka were both rude, abusive, and corrupt. Thank goodness past Oral Surgeon is dead or at least gone from Humboldt County. The horrible surgeon was Rog or Bog. One was a horrible Dermatology Surgeon who mis diagnosed me and would have killed me had not Dr. Russel Pardoe saved the day. The other was a horrible Dental Surgeon. One died and the other left town, thank goodness. Hopefully, I will not need dental surgery again for a long time. However, if I do in the future I will go to Dr. Martey here locally. My teeth brake when pulled by a regular dentist, and then they need to send me to an Oral Surgeon to put me to sleep and dig the tooth fragments out. This is why I need an excellent Oral Surgeon to avoid having my roots exposed while waiting for an appointment with a proper oral surgeon to dig the tooth fragments out while asleep. My suggestion is to get Dental Insurance or have an account to save money monthly in order to have enough for to pay cash for dental emergencies not covered by Medicare. read more

I called them with a concern a few days after the person on the phone just sounded like I was wasting her time. Some of the other staff acted the same way while I was there. I'm glad I went here. All 4 wisdom teeth were impacted. I had my upper wisdom teeth pulled. I'm about to be 31. Both my bottom wisdom teeth had a coronectomy procedure done and I had some cadaver bone put in. Every single receptionist I spoke with was always on top of it and helpful. They were all very sweet. I was worried about the surgery and the recovery. I was very anxious right before the surgery. Dr. Martey and the nurse he had with him were really great. It was nerve wracking to see all the medical tools laying out prior to surgery lol. Anyways, they did call me a day after surgery to check in on me which was nice. It's been well over a month and I feel great. Over a week ago I had some throbbing pain and the receptionist was quick to make sure I had another round of antibiotics and that got rid of the issue. Wow. Where do I start. Well, they re-scheduled me twice, and then when my new appointment finally arrived, I called ahead to make sure. The receptionist said "we put someone else in your spot because you didnt call a day ahead and confirm". What??!! So, their office didn't call me (like every civilized practice does in this country), and so then she tries to gaslight me and say "I was supposed to call?". Total BS. Then she said "well you can come in right now if you want" (an hour earlier then they had me scheduled). When I tried to explain that I had already scheduled a ride for my appointment time, because I was going to be anesthetized, she said "well I can get you in next month". I don't know if this lady is just a rude b**** or is actually trying to hurt their business, but she is succeeding at both. I recommend not going anywhere near this place, and reporting them to the California Dental Board (916-263-2300, ask for the "complaint unit"). Call them, spread the word. read more

I was so incredibly impressed with how my Wisdom Teeth extraction went at Dr. Marty's office. Everyone was so professional and thoughtful. I was very nervous to get my Wisdom teeth taken out and they all made me feel calm and well taken care of. One even held my hand before Dr. Marty put the IV in. Beforehand, they took an X ray of my teeth and Dr Marty came in to give me a mini consultation and answer all me questions. It was such a huge relief that the procedure was painless. Dr Marty and his staff took very good care of me. I also really appreciate that they called me the next day to check up on me and give me some extra tips on how to make my recovery go smoothly. I am really unimpressed with this office and rude wait-room staff. I waited over an hour and 45 minutes for my appointment. There was no regard for wait times or Informing patients who are waiting that they are far behind schedule. I was disappointed, as I and my husband who drove me had to take time away from work for my procedure. I had to have 4 wisdom teeth pulled and I was quite nervous. When I was finally able to be seen, It felt like they just wanted to quickly get me in and back out the door. While waking up from the anesthesia I was quite startled and overwhelmed. I was then put in a room by myself, while still pretty out of it and upset, and told I needed to calm down in order for my husband to be able to come in to sit with me, after repeatedly asking for him. (This was my first time doing anything like this or "going under".) They finally let him in and after very quickly explaining aftercare to him and making a follow-up appt. they sent us on our way. On a positive note- Dr. Marty sent my prescriptions over before starting my procedure so that they would be ready as soon as I was done. I appreciated that very much. Overall, it really wasn't the experience I had hoped for. Better Communication between staff and patients would have improved my experience greatly. read more

I had my wisdom teeth removed here, and the surgery itself was great. Swelling and pain very minimal, the doctor and assistant were very helpful. However if I ever need another dental surgery I will find somewhere out of the area. The receptionists are extremely rude and belittling. I dreaded calling to ask questions because every time I did I was treated as if it was a huge inconvenience. I called to double check that I didn't need to take antibiotics and was accused of being a liar and "not checking with the doctor when I had the chance." Do not recommend. Of all the procedures I've gotten done over the years an implant is the most costly and definitely the most stressful. I have had this procedure two times over the past 4 years by Dr Marty which requires at least 3 visits for each. The staff were really nice and comforting. The office person in charge of billing made sure my insurance paid their share and promptly reimbursed me. Dr Marty is amazing and other professionals who look at my implants always say he did an amazing job. I will go back and recommend him to everyone. read more

Absolute worst experience of my life. After my biopsy the never called me back with my results. I could not get them to call me back, so I had to go down there. The lady at the front desk was super annoyed with me wanting my results, she found my file, said "oops, I wonder why you never got called." They had my results for over TWO weeks. Then she proceeds to read the results OUT LOUD! I turn around to see other patients in the waiting room staring at me. Very rude. Also, same angry assures me that they will bill my insurance, so I paid in full up front. almost six months later and they have yet to bill my insurance, so now I must file the claim, and surprise surprise, they will not return my call so I can get the info that my insurance company needs to process the claim. Very cold bedside manner, I was there bc I may have had cancer and the staff made me feel like a HUGE annoyance. Never again. read more

I went to Dr Martey to get X-rays and then again get my wisdom teeth removed. Like others I did wait quiet a while, but I had things to read so I didn't mind. The staff seemed a bit over worked, the woman at the front desk was also tasked with giving me my X-rays. This did not leave a good impression for me. In the end, Dr. Martey did a wonderful job on my surgery and I would trust him to work on me again. They gave post surgery instructions to me and the person taking care of me that day... So, if I missed something my caregiver for the day could remember. I was prescribed medication that was easily covered by my insurance and that met my needs. About a week or so (I don't remember) after the surgery I went back to their office for a follow up and was given post care instructions. read more
