Saw specialist, decided to go with an extraction. I was told several times that it would be over over$1000 as they did a secondary procedure to make it easier to get implants later on. I didn't care about getting a new back tooth. Only once did I agree to this prior to the extraction, and then changed my mind and stated I only wanted the extraction. It was quite less expensive, and suited my needs. Day of appt, I remind them only the extraction, and they say they know. Mehta brings a woman into the room and shows me his shaking hand and asks if she can take over for him, I said that was fine. I don't believe I was ever told her name. Went smoothly. I am then told that the charge is $1700. I tell her they did something I didn't agree to. She looks at Mehta, he nods and she said we can discount $200. Fine. I was pissed, or it on 2 cards. Thinking it over I reached out to the manager, and she contacted me and said it was obvious in my file that I only wanted the tooth pulled. They refunded me. Same issue happened wth a friend, but they didn't get a refund. Also I got an auto message saying I still had $$ benefits left, so I should book an appointment. I was not due for anything.

I had been excited to finally find someone that took my insurance again. I had my establishment appointment today where they did a full set of xrays. Two hours later, but not more than 10 minutes actually talking to Akbari, I walked out with not much more than a 10,000 dollar treatment plan and very little explanation about the treatment recommendation or information about options. When I asked how they would do the procedure for MY personal condition, she showed me a YouTube video for the procedure but treating a different condition instead! She started the video and almost immediately walked out the room, leaving me to watch by myself! Before she walked out, she DID say that the video should tell me everything I would need to know but let her know if I had questions. Well, I actually did have questions, but the only other staff I was able to see after that was the front desk lady who came in to give me my treatment plan and cost. When I told her I had more questions for the dentist, she didn't actually let me talk to Akbari , but instead, asked me what my questions were, quickly consulted the notes on my treatment plan, and confirmed to me that I needed the treatment. Well, that wasn't my question!! With all that said, I did not leave the office with a good feeling at all. Just worry. Because even if I did decide to do the procedure, it wouldn't be by that office for sure! my dentist is yet to be found. Not only did Akbari do a poor job communicating to me details about my condition, information about my options and what to expect with the recommended procedure , she came off as cold, uncaring, and maybe even a little mean. She did look at two "concerning" areas in my mouth. The first spot, she was a bit more gentle. She barely touched it with her dental pick and then asked if it was sensitive. When I said no, she then took out the air syringe and roughly , I'd say almost angrily, blasted two or three hard puffs of air on that spot which did make me flinch then before telling me that she wanted to move me back into the xray room and will continue the exam in there! I really thought those blasts of air were unnecessary, especially if she was just going to move me into another room before continuing her "exam" anyway! And the xray room took time to set up! I wish I would've thought to look up reviews on Mehta and Akbari before going in. My experience was similar to these reviews and I'm not surprised at all at the low ratings. I guess my search for a good dentist continues.

That was almost 30 years ago, and now I always pray that he remains in good health so he can continue dentistry. He does use hearing aids, but that doesn't deter his service. I really appreciate how he does "the shots"; he has a technique that makes it quite tolerable. All of his work has been top-notch; he is worth what he charges, which has to cover a professional and nice office. I only had one glitch with him, but that's cuz he is a mainstream doctor; he does not care to hear about my use of tea tree oil and neem toothpaste when I tell him why, according to him, "I have the best gums he's seen". Also, when I got an infection in my jaw after a root canal, he would not admit that I had gotten one; fortunately, I was able to get antibiotics from another doctor. But alternative dentists tell the truth about how root canals can lead to infection.

Dr. Kime was the first dentist who took my jaw pain seriously. Previous dentists said there was nothing that could be done about my persistent jaw pain, but Dr. Kime explained that wearing a night guard would help (and it did). I had previously developed a lot of anxiety about going to the dentist because I knew that keeping my mouth open for so long would cause my jaw to become tense and, at times, lock up. However, Dr. Kime listened to me, believed me, and always made sure I was comfortable. I also got an amazing teeth whitening at Dr. Kime's. I had told him and his staff that I was getting married and the whitening really helped boost my confidence on my wedding day. In fact, years later, I still feel so much confidence from having whiter teeth. The process was easy, comfortable, and stress free. Dr. Kime and his staff were all so generous and kind during my time as a patient there. I will always compare my dentists to Dr. Kime and I will not settle for substandard dentistry again because I know that amazing dentists are out there. He could be a little more gentle, I have always had a huge fear of dentists and I get anxiety like no other.. So that's one thing he could improve on. But other then that, he's great so far. I've got some extensive work that a needing to be done because I was in a serious car accident 4 months ago breaking my whole face (Le Fort III fracture) which caused one of my front teeth to fall out and he seemed super eager to get it fixed and get my smile back.
