In addition to his knowledge and expertise, he has an excellent bedside manner and takes his time to answer every question I have. The office was able to fit me in for a same day appointment. There was a little bit of a wait, which I didn't mind having for the best treatment from both the audiologist and the doctor.

Letting someone into your nose repeatedly is a very personal experience. They're inside your face,…read morerummaging around, looking for answers. The rummager is someone you must trust, put faith in, and welcome into your life. Unfortunately, I trusted Derek Soohoo. I let him in. FLASHBACK - I'm 13 years old, sitting at a cafeteria table. Undoubtedly, I've been having another great day at Middle School, where I really came into my own. However, one of my classmates points out that I breathe out of my mouth all the time. I had never heard the term "mouthbreather," nor would I have understood the necessity of the phrase, because I legitimately did not know people breathed out of their noses. It was on this day that I discovered my nose was deeply inferior to other noses. FLASHFORWARD - It's time to address this tremendous nasal inferiority. Emboldened to change my life and respiratory capabilities, I ambled into Derek Soohoo's office. After several visits, he decided surgery was the path to correcting my deviated septum, polyps, and other snout dysfunctions. At this point, I'd given Soohoo the keys to my face without hesitation. Cut away, I thought! DAY OF SURGERY - The anesthesiologist tells me to count down from 10. I make it to about 6 until I completely zonk out. When I wake up, the surgery has completed, and my throat is in tremendous pain. After Soohoo claims repeatedly that this is merely a symptom of thirst, I am sent home to recover. It is there that I discover I am bleeding from my throat. After being put under, apparently they accidentally gashed my throat with the breathing tube, adding quite a bit of anguish to the recovery process, which took significantly longer than it otherwise would have. POST-SURGERY - After the throat incident, I was certainly wary of Soohoo, and what had actually been accomplished in the surgery (I'd later discover, very little). Follow up appointments with Soohoo were insanely unprofessional. At one point, he kept us in the waiting room for over 2 hours, later claiming to have forgotten we were there. After several bizarre check-ups, I decided to stop going, and instead check with other ENTs to really determine the effectiveness of his surgery. As it turns out, he failed to open up my sinus passages, and it would require three additional surgeries to correct his shortcomings. As far as I know, the only thing he did properly was remove the polyps, which is for naught without the ability to breathe in that newfound territory. Ultimately, Derek Soohoo is a cautionary story of betrayal. He entered my face and left me in arguably worse shape than he found me, not to mention our wildly irritating experiences in his doctor's office. I recommend highly that you keep him far away from your tender face, and seek assistance from other trusted ENTs of Westchester.

The aides neglect to respond to patients, and when they do it's in slow motion. They often leave the call button out of reach from the patients, seemingly on purpose. Let's just say that if you are there for rehab, you'll get 1 to 1.5 hours a day's worth (Allen and Michael were great), but the remaining 23 hours might as well be a prison sentence. My relative was there for 1 month. He complained every day about mistreatment. For example, he asked an aide to help him put his watch on the charger that was 2 feet away. She said that she was too busy and never returned. But the worst part was in regard to calls for bathroom assistance. In almost every instance, he had to go in his pants because the response time was over an hour. They attitude of these aides was never solicitous, rather they would bark at patients "you wait!" or "I'm busy". Try calling the nurses station, you'll find that you'll have better luck getting through to the DMV. Never once did I get through or get a call back from a message that was left. Credit to Case Manager Marta Tejada who was responsive and seemed to care, but was hamstrung by the incompetent and understaffed team. I visited this facility back in 2019, the piano in the common area was tuned and nice to play. Now, in 2026,the piano is broken, and has not been tuned in years.
