This is a large hotel located in the village of Upton St Leonards, on the eastern outskirts of…read moreGloucester, set in its own wooded grounds. It's a former country house, dating from 1770, but with substantial 19th century and modern additions. Anyone expecting a country-house style interior will be disappointed: it has been thoroughly modernised and, while the main rooms have grand proportions, the decor is thoroughly minimalist. Most of the bedrooms are in an adjacent block and are have a fairly standard hotel room layout, with ensuite facilities. There's no air conditioning but fans are provided. My room was comfortable, with a great bed , comfortable pillows and fluffy towels. Less good was the miserably small hanging rail located in a tall box-like contraption by the door. About a foot of hanging space seemed ridiculously mean in what was otherwise a spacious room. A tray with a kettle and tea, coffee and biscuits was provided. There were plenty of power sockets including a USB charging point. The free wifi had a very good signal, and provided around 35mbs in my room for both uploading and downloading. I was visiting with a group, so had a special meal in one of the conference facilities, rather than the restaurant. This was perfectly ok, if not especially memorable. Breakfast was a self service buffet, with the hot food refreshed regularly, though the choice of pastries and fruit was a little disappointing. Outside, the very extensive grounds (12 acres) are largely laid to lawn with lovely mature trees. It's very quiet and peaceful. There's extensive car parking nearby with reserved disabled spaces. The staff were uniformly pleasant and helpful, and very obliging. So, overall it was a decent hotel in a lovely location, with great staff.

Spoke to reception and was moved to a lovely room with lots of windows and was lovely and cool. Top marks for friendly helpful staff. Would recommend to friends and work colleagues.

A comfy bed that I absolutely passed out in every night after my first week on the job; no to mention jet lag from coming in from the west coast US and going out every night pub-dinner-pub with co-workers. Room was perfect. Clean, plenty of room and everything I needed while out of town working. Tried my first English breakfast here and loved it. Had it daily. Fan and Alan and staff were wonderful. Heading here again soon and looking forward to it.

I was having a mooch on Booking.com for a hotel for a weekend break and came across Beaumont House…read more- Cheltenham's 5 star boutique guest house. On arrival I was impressed as the cab pulled up at the front steps of this wonderful house. There is ample car parking here and its FREE for all guests. I was greeted at the door by a lovely member of staff who opened the door to show me in. Once checked in I was given a personal tour of the guest house. 1. The Guest Lounge - beautiful with an honesty bar for you to help yourself to, leave a note of what you have had and pay at check out. *There was a real fire place here which on the night when we came back from dinner it was lit and made the room really cosey and warm :-). 2. The Garden Dining Room was set out ready for breakfast the following morning with a lovely view of the landscaped garden. 3. The conservatory again also over looking the garden there was a drinks machine with complimentary coffee, expresso, capuccino, latte, speciality teas and biscuits. We then went up the stairs to the first floor where she showed me to my room. 4. I had booked the Prestbury Suite - a large double room with ensuite whirlpool bath, overhead shower and bathroom tv. I was like WOW - it was gorgeous. As well as the tea and coffee in the room there were flowers, fresh fruit, luxury chocolates and a mini bar. I loved the large windows of this Georgian house, great to sit and look out on your surroundings. The bed was huge! :-) It was just a 25 minute walk to the grand Montpellier Arcade where there are some gorgeous shops, bars and restaurants. Walk a little further along the promanade to the centre of the town and enjoy. After a relaxing whirlpool bath that evening I had a wonderful nights sleep. Woke up looking forward to breakfast. The superb hospitality of the continued as we were shown to our table looking over the garden. All produce are locally sourced and cooked fresh to order. I had fresh fruit salad and yoghurt from the buffet followed by haddock and poached eggs and it was gorgeous, made a lovely change and set me up for the day. My friend had a full english. Freshly squeezed orange juice was also available, teas & coffees served to your table. Fabulous breakfast. The staff ensured everything was to your satisfaction all the way through. So wonderful to experience! Now I know there were 2 themed rooms here and I was able to have a look in them. Out of Africa and Out of Asia are definately worth booking if you are after a special treat. Have a look at the website www.bhhotel.co.uk Fan & Alan Bishop and staff thank you so much for a marvellous stay!

My coworkers and I stayed here during a work trip because our client was within the area. Based on…read moremy stay I would rate it a one star, but because the staff were very friendly I gave it a two star. When writing this review I am comparing it to typical double tree hotel stays and Hilton stays. Here are some things that stood out to me, and played into my review: 1. To start the hotel is not in close proximity to any restaurants so we spent a lot of money getting taxis into town. There is a restaurant hotel but we did not want to eat there every night. We actually found that the lobby bar food was better than the restaurant food. 2. The hotel is surrounded by nature and there were a lot of bugs. When I first walked into my room there were 3 lady bugs on my window, and I also had seen a spider. All of my coworkers also seen spiders at some point during the stay. 3. There is no air conditioner, only a fan. My fan was dusty and it was only a matter of a few days before I came down with a cold. When it's hot the room is muggy you either have a muggy room or open the windows and chance bugs getting in the room. I had nose bleeds every other day. 4. There are no elevators; however, the front desk was nice about bringing the bags to the room. 5. One of my coworkers had to end up changing rooms because her toilet didn't work. 6. The two weeks we checked in our rooms weren't ready on time we we ended up having to wait in the lobby. 7. Although there were not any stains on the sheets they did not look like they had recently been clean and I seen someone else's hair, which kind of grossed me out. 8. Not that many options for things to watch on tv and the tv was rather small. 9. The first few days i thought there was no hot water but apparently I was working the shower incorrectly, so make sure to push button down and keep turning nuzzle to get hot water. 10. The walls are thin and the doors closing are loud so sometimes it woke me up. 11. I accidentally left my door open because I didn't realize after closing the door you have to yank it shut for it to be closed all the way.

Beautiful surroundings. Small rooms. Tiny bedread more
