We hired Kelly (and I'm going to preface this with, we don't trust realtors to begin with because…read moreof their tactics) to sell our home. We told her the selling part was easy. It would be the finding a place to go in the interim, while my husband got back on track that would be the arduous part. She came over for that initial "interview", stated she had dealt with certain "orders" with neighbors, and that didn't bother her, that she would handle it. She was also informed I have OCD and severe anxiety, and that because of our neighbor and the leaseback, this was going to be a challenge. If she chose not to take it on, it was understood. She also understood as aforementioned above, knew that we needed a leaseback, and that other realtors prior, could sell the home, but then dropped the ball when it came to finding a place for us.
She conveyed to us after that first meeting that she would find a place prior to even putting the home up for sale as she had such a network at Keller Williams Elite. She kept saying this, but yet as we saw with other realtors, she never had anything to lease.
I also conveyed to her that I wanted her to watch individuals the best she could, as I have OCD and I don't like people sitting on my sofas, beds and moving my things around during a showing. She said she would be watching. I guess she forgot that we had video cameras which was listed on our listing by her, and it kept going off, as she was walking back and forth OUTSIDE the mudroom door, doing her own work. The camera takes video of the individual obviously when they're out there. We received so many notifications, because she never went in to watch anyone, except her own client who was older. So she lied there.
She did keep us updated prior to close about how our attorney had an issue with the title company, that I had to call and fix myself, and she made sure contact was constant during closing, but after it was, forget about her helping out during the leaseback period.
My husband usually is pretty calm with people, even if he knows they're playing him, and he lost it with her at one point. She said she was looking, but that's the excuse she always gave. We had to use another realtor my husband knew years ago that primarily only does rentals to help us. Kelly could careless whether you were in a hotel.
It wasn't her life.
The leaseback just ended, and as per usual, we got everything we needed to her asap, and we at day 3 of the new owner having keys, hadn't seen the money held in escrow for the leaseback, the oil refund, or the prorated days refunded. I had to speak to another attorney to get some help. She was just going with the fact the attorney for the buyer was busy, or out of the office, but it's ironic none of these individuals are busy or in meetings when it comes time to close, and get their own commission or payment.
Her last correspondence to me was that she kept my husband updated about getting the money back owed to us. She has this issue with comprehending that you can tell my husband every day that you expect money from the closing attorney, but if you just say OK, and never pressure them in a way that demonstrates you aren't taking their excuses anymore, then contacting my husband informing him you are still waiting for checks to be cut isn't really helping.
She also would pick and choose what she would actually respond to with both myself or my husband in emails.
When all is said and done, she'll sell your home, but I'm going to be honest, it's not hard to do in this economy, however follow through after commission is paid out lacks, especially if you do a leaseback and are requiring her help finding another place to go. It's pretty sad we had to pay another realtor a finders fee, because the one who sold our home whom we trusted would find us a rental, in our opinion couldn't careless.
Either she's too busy or doesn't care if you end up in a hotel -- or both, I wouldn't ever want to go through the stress I did with her and that transaction again.
