If you are looking for a small gym, with a focus on lifting, this is your place. Plus, we are pretty old school, not big rah rah babysitting, the WOD is posted, you can manage your own time, do the posted workout, or do another (if you are following other programming). Everyone is super supportive, we are a family, and the coach/owner is knowledgeable and down to earth.

I would honestly ignore Mary G.'s review, I have had nothing but great experiences here…read more While stationed at NAS Pensacola for about a year, I was consistently impressed with Razor's Edge Fitness/Crossfit Pensacola. The gym itself is a very well managed facility with plenty of the latest equipment, ample space for multiple WODs going on at the same time, and a shower/changing room. The gym is kept clean and is located in the middle of downtown, making it a convienient location from across the Pensacola Area. Gil Petruska, the owner, if very flexible with regard to membership to meet any member needs. There is generally good crossfit equipment at any gym, an this gym is no exception. However, what sets the gym apart is the atmosphere and the staff/coaches. Gil, the head trainer and owner, puts his heart and soul into his business providing high-quality programming, a welcoming yet competitive atmosphere and by genuinely caring for his athletes. The assistant coaches bring a wealth of certifications, knowledge and experience as well. There are many walks of life that compete on a daily basis at the gym - working moms, military, business people, aspiring college athletes and mostly people who want to become more fit and healthy. I highly reccomend stopping in for drop in if you are just passing through town or are trying to decide of the box is for you. I personnally think you'll end up finding a home away from home and be among like-minded, healthy people

I was in town for a quick trip and this was walking distance from where I was staying. $40 drop in…read moreis steep but pretty typical. I got there and was informed I needed to use their grippy socks which cost $20, and not cute ones the branded ones that they make you buy at like skyzone with your kids for $5. I was told they were an "investment." I was already there so decided to just suck it up. So, was this class worth $60? Absolutely not- that's approaching a personal coaching session! My instructor was okay but after assuring me she would direct me and offer modifications since I told her about an injury and it was my first class she basically never spoke to me again. The workout was what you would expect if you have ever done a megaformer style class before. Generic encouragement and teaching. I would call this a very mid experience. Also, it is Florida and there was not one fan in the workout space so it was a very humid sweaty experience.

Rental clubs are affordable and you have tiered choices to make. They have a 9 hole on side of the street that is poorly maintained and perhaps aptly described as a goat ranch with diseased patchy greens. But this is where you take newbies who are learning and youngsters who can't appreciate better conditions. We did that the first day. The 2d day, my 13 and 16 year olds I played 18 of 27 holes on the other side across from the main clubhouse. Great course with scenic views! Lunch is affordable and tasty. We'll be back next year for spring break. There are a couple of spots where you can just grip and rip a ball out in the water....in theory. Not saying we did it.
