During his inspection, John noticed corrosion on my cast iron pipes that was causing a leak whenever I flushed the first floor toilet. What impressed me most is that several plumbers had looked at my place before and none of them caught it. He flagged it right away and explained everything clearly. He then quoted me a very fair price for the labor, a new toilet, and installation, and was able to schedule everything within the week. When the toilet arrived, he noticed a small blemish and told me he wouldn't install it because it didn't meet his standards and he told me not to pay until it was done right. That level of integrity is rare. When he came back with the replacement, he discovered the previous homeowner had done some questionable work with the flooring and the toilet had been sitting at an angle. Instead of just reinstalling it the same way, John took the extra time to properly level and seat it flush with the floor, which clearly took extra effort and skill. John is a true perfectionist, incredibly personable, and you can tell this is a family business that really cares about doing things the right way. We have two and a half bathrooms, so I decided to have all three flappers replaced in order to avoid future problems. Nick insisted on inspecting all three toilets before starting. Nick also stated that any repairs would not be guaranteed. That should have been a tip off. By the time he finished, two of the toilets were replaced and one was repaired. He also said they don't even make that brand anymore (they sell them at HD I later found out). Interestingly, the quote is the same whether the job takes one hour or 5. Make it make sense. Was quoted the same price to replace a valve, face plate and shower head in my shower. They call it a "rebuild" so it sounds more involved. Another guy told me that they wouldn't clean my steam boiler due to its age and I should consider a new one. And then began the incessant texts and phone calls to upgrade my boiler, requests to leave a five star review, and friendly check ins in case I had questions. Sometimes it was a human, sometimes an AI that was no help anyway. They checked the box to keep my cc on file on the form I signed without my permission. Now I have to call these jokers to get it removed when all I want is for them to lose my number. In short: Their prices are too high and you need a restraining order to get rid of them.
