The office itself is in downtown Solvang which makes it very convenient- especially if you need to bribe your child with pancakes after an appointment involving a shot! The office is nice and clean and stocked with fun and interesting toys. The staff was very kind, gentle and patient. They seem to run like a well-oiled machine as far as getting records transferred, setting appointments and general interaction. I really liked the couple people we have interacted with there thus far. Dr. Saunders herself is also very kind and my son was instantly comfortable with her. She explained everything she was doing and checking and made him feel a part of the process. She came across as very knowledgeable on the items I had questions about. Finding a doctor-particularly for you kids- can be a nerve-wrecking detail of any move so I'm happy to have found someone and an office that we're so comfortable with right off the bat.

Initially, it was for their convenient hours and because the staff included a female Nurse Practitioner, which I prefer for my Well Woman annual. I've been impressed by the time staff takes on all of my visits. They've all been very friendly and helpful- be it when I've called to schedule or see if I should come, to the nurse who handled our Little One on this morning's visit. (She did better than the nurses at our soon to be former pediatrician's!) Vanessa did my Well Woman as well as two more unscheduled/walk-in office visits I've had. She's a straight to the point, tell it like it is person, which I appreciate. Additionally, she's warm & friendly and made me feel like a longtime client by taking time to be thorough and encouraging me to ask any questions I might have. It's definitely a nice contrast to being rushed or feeling like I'm taking too much time. This morning, I finally met Dr. Ekstrom, when I decided I couldn't last the weekend without taking in our daughter who hadn't been herself in a week. All of the staff was so helpful and supportive when I'd fully understand a "first time mom too worried & shouldn't have taken up time on a busy Saturday" vibe. No one made me feel silly for bringing her in. There were so many cars in the lot when I arrived (it is the only Saturday urgent care, I shouldn't have been so surprised!) but the staff did an amazing job at getting people in and out quickly. I was seriously impressed by the fact that they were down to three people waiting when we left! All that, and I still felt very attended to and observed smiles on most everyone's/staff's face! We will be switching all of our family's care over to this practice- oh, it also needs to be said- I am especially glad to have found a doctor who is more holistic in his approach/isn't so quick to prescribe chemical prescriptions and who supports breastfeeding Mamas!

We are a family that loves quality, and although we live 40 mins away, we don't mind making the drive because of the high quality service we receive in exchange. His staff is always friendly and polite. There are books, toys, and games for children to play in the waiting area. The entire facility is clean and looks new. Dr. Macias is patient and will actually listen to your concerns and not try to rush you no matter how busy he is with so many appointments. He goes above and beyond in answering questions and makes sure you really understand, even if it means drawing a diagram/picture. He is also fantastic at recommending other medical practitioners. I have tried cardiologists and pulmonologists he has recommended and they have been of great quality also. He has been incredibly helpful every step of the way. He caught one of her health issues early. We later learned that many pediatricians miss the early signs. Thanks to his knowledge, we are able to get our daughter a minimally invasive surgery instead of a more major one she would have needed if her symptoms were overlooked. Additionally, we wanted to go out of state for her surgery and Dr. Macias was amazing as he is still supporting us through the process of navigating insurance and getting to an out-of-state specialist that we chose. Through the process, he listened to our concerns and expresses confidence in the choices we are making for our girl. We couldn't ask for more!
