The guy behind the deli counter provides exemplary customer service, as does the bakery department. All of the cashiers are extraordinarily personable and willing to provide any assistance when asked. The lines move swiftly and the self-checkout always has one or more helpful employees on the spot. The long running employees are a staple of the neighborhood community and the newer ones are always bright and hard-working which speaks highly of the hiring manager. All of the employees are great to have around, even the quieter ones. Lastly, in a neighborhood that can be a little intimidating to some, the security team keeps an excellent eye on everybody and everything. Thanks to them I feel absolutely safe while shopping there, which unfortunately I am unable to to say about some neighborhoods. You can tell that the entire staff cares a whole lot about the well-being of the store, the neighborhood and the community. Long live "Ghetto" Smith's, the heart of the Student Ghetto.

Selection was amazing, and everything was fresh and organic. I enjoyed shopping every single moment. The store was clean and tidy. Staff hardly interacted with the customers compared to the ones in Paseo. However, there is plenty of sitting in the food area. They also give you a lot more deals if you have Amazon Prime. All in all, this is a great place to shop for fresh produce.

We each tried to buy a bottle of wine, but, oops, my ID was with my suitcase in my hotel room. Yes we were from another state visiting for a conference. My friend said she would buy my wine since she had her ID with her (btw we are both over 65). But the clerk explained that she had to ID all parties buying alcohol. Ok. Local rules we will follow if we know them. Now we have been schooled. Several days later we return with all of our IDs in hand. Checking out, the same employee said "and don't come back!" ??? Don't worry we won't. Is this Albuquerque hospitality?

But it has all kinds of natural food and treats. I bought a raw goat milk cheddar, very fresh asparagus and apple pie and a few other things. They source most products from small local farms. It's kind of catch as catch can depending on what vendors have come in. I didn't buy any meat but they had some interesting stuff in the freezer. You're not going to do weekly shopping here. But if you want really nice produce and locally sourced product this is your place.

The store works with local farmers and food producers to pass along high-quality foods that are extras. The day I went there were all kinds of fresh meat, veggies, dairy, and lots of other delights, food and nonfood. They have a nice little selection of soaps and other handmade items. I tried the strawberry drinkable yogurt and it was fantastic! Creamy, rich, and full of flavor. I also got some stellar green onions that were the nicest I've seen. Everything was fresh and delicious. The store clerk was welcoming, knowledgeable, and told us all about how the store works and what we could expect. On top of that, it's a beautiful little store with lots of room inside to move freely. I will definitely be back. Although I got quite a few things while I was there, there are a lot of other items that I would like to try. I'm also curious to see what they have next time since the selection rotates on a regular basis. Here's the reason for the low stars though...first, I needed to go to the bathroom pretty badly. I attempted to ask a worker and she jumped backwards like she was scared. Then she wouldn't answer me and literally walked backwards and into a different aisle, blatantly avoiding responding to me. It was extremely uncomfortable. Then I asked a different employee and this one informed me of where the bathrooms are. I went to it but the whole bathroom was closed. Then I tried the bathroom in the back of the store. There was a huge line and about 1/4 of those stalls were closed also. I had to wait so long that I was hunched over with my legs crossed. Then afterward, all 3 drinking fountains were broken. I shopped for a lot here and was disappointed in how I felt as a customer. I did talk with a manager who seemed friendly and apologized. That helped a bit. There was also a really friendly lady employee at the exit. So it wasn't the worst stop ever, but also could have been way better. The store has many handy items for low prices but the overall environment isn't the best!
