I find the security staff intimidating and rude I think one guy there has mummy issues and should really have counselling and not be taking his anger out on customers who do no wrong. The self service section is a joke as half of them have not been switched on and the one l used made me feel as if l just won the jackpot on a fruit machine in a pub, how can a shop justify paying a customer 62p change in 2p pieces. Ice cream that has been defrosted is being re frozen and sold again when l reported the issue to the duty manager he did nothing. Tesco sort yourselves out!

By this I do not mean, the world's biggest range of crisps. I mean they have all the usual chocolate, crisps and fizzy juice as well as ciggies, rolling papers and tobacco. However, you'll also find good two for £2 deals on litres of fruit juice (perfect for picking up on the way home for a Sunday morning breakfast). You'll also find a good range of - slightly overpriced - cheeses, meats and homemade samosas. Meanwhile, for the fast food folks among you there is a pretty good selection of frozen pizzas, chips, burgers and, of course, ice creams near the back of the shop. I just popped in to get a pint of milk. I wasn't feeling great, I have a bit of a cold. The guy behind the counter assured me that all I needed was a sunny weekend and I'd be right as rain. Primarily it has thrived over the years by identifying that: a) students live nearby, and b) students don't like to walk. As such, rather than simply stocking the usual newsagent fare, it has a small extension packed with the sort of niggly household goods which would generally require a visit to the supermarket - Waitrose, a further five minute walk away and Tesco, 10 minutes in the other direction. It's perhaps a little pricier but you're paying for convenience, and with a license to sell alcohol as well, it's pretty much a one-stop shop for North Kelvinside's student community.

This is still a good shop but it's one that I rarely stop by at to buy anything more than juice and even that's a rare occasion, and I think the reason is that they rarely support any Scottish or even British businesses for example they buy in bakery items amongst many other items in from Holland or Germany probably because it's cheaper but they mark up the prices higher than regular shops. But still they are one of the few shops that are open at 6am.

The prices are steep-ish but not extortionate and they're the kind of store that also has lots of handy little bits and pieces. So, maybe you're only going in for a loaf of bread, but if you realise you need a pack of safety pins or a bottle opener or something, they'll likely have that too. Oh, and there's a cash machine right outside which doesn't charge and never seems to have a queue in front of it, even when the one outside Tesco has a massive queue. One of the best things about this Spar is the post office facility, which is located at the main counter. The staff are very friendly and happy to help, and the location is very handy for the residents of this area. The shop is wheelchair accessible. The prices are average for a corner shop - more expensive than a supermarket but a lot handier.
