If you are trying to decide whether or not to have a doula, HIRE ONE. And hire Kaitlyn :) Having…read moreKaitlyn by our side throughout our pregnancy and birth was life changing. It was the best decision we made for us and our baby. My labor and delivery ended up being the total opposite of what we had wanted/planned and Kaitlyn was the absolute best coach and comfort during the whole experience. Not only did she educate us on what to expect, but she made us feel confident as decision makers and parents - before our girl was even here! My birth experience was intense and I cannot imagine going through it without Kaitlyn by my side. There truly isn't a better advocate for mom and baby than a doula. We learned that the hospital and staff (while they were great) just aren't as invested in you as a family. Kaitlyn helped us see a tongue tie issuse as well which after we got corrected literally changed our breastfeeding experience when it was looking impossible. Kaitlyn will always be a special part of our family story. Doulas are so gifted and magical and you will never regret having one - especially Kaitlyn if you're lucky to have her! We love you Kaitlyn!!!

My husband and I were so grateful to have Sarah there every step of the way for support, and comfort measures during labor that we didn't know about, forgot about in the moment, or couldn't do with just the two of us. If you're on the fence about hiring a doula, DO IT! Worth every single penny!

We did not have a doula with our first child, so we were not really sure exactly what to look for, however Olivia provided us with some good resources and even recommended some other doulas for us to interview. However, after meeting and interviewing her once we knew she would be a great fit, and we are very glad we did! Our baby came unexpectedly early (our first child was 11 days late), and thankfully we were able to fit a quick refresher course in with Olivia the day before the baby was born. Before, during, and after labor Olivia was magnificent. She is rare in that she is both very productive and very calm and pleasant at the same time. She respected our wishes at all times while also providing appropriate and helpful advice and feedback when we needed it. We are so glad that she was with us, and recommend her very highly to anyone else considering her services!

This was our first birth and we weren't sure if we needed to hire a doula since we had been mentally prepping ourself since the beginning of pregnancy. After our initial meet up, we felt an immediate sense of comfort with Olivia and could picture her on delivery day. We booked her that evening and we are so grateful to have her help us achieve the birth that we envisioned. She provided us peace in the unknown territory and guided us with her wisdom and knowledge. She met us a couple of times in our home (despite the long distance) to help us prepare for labor and delivery. Don't think twice about having Olivia with you on one of the most important day of your life. We are so happy with how ours went that we will have her with us again for our next baby.

What an incredible operation!…read more Everyone here is soothing and professional. You cannot have that many smiles in one place unless people love their job! The birthing rooms are all clean, quiet and comfortable. The midwives are the friendliest people ever. That's a great thing when you are in a highly stressful situation! The face they have a chiropractor for pre-natal care is excellent. What was super more important for my wife, was all the care (including noticing the symptoms of postpartum) after the baby. Once the baby comes out, all the attention goes to the baby, and the mother is practically discarded. Having someone to physically care for you, as well as mentally (and recognize hormonally), can be a vital issue in women's care! 5 STARS

Out of the blue, they dropped us from their care at 7 months pregnant. Gave us a list of other providers and sent us on our way. Problem is many providers either don't take in new patients at this stage of pregnancy or don't prorate. Their reasoning was because my wife expressed some fears and asked questions to try to get some reassurance.. That's it. They pocket ~$1,600 for 2 visits and we're left trying to find someone else to help us. Be careful with expressing your fears, if you don't want to lose money.

I can't express enough how grateful I am to the midwives and nurses at ABC! This is my 8 weeks…read morepostpartum and here is my story. My husband got laid off when I was several weeks pregnant so we didn't have insurance. When I called some OBs, the moment the front desk person knew that I didn't have insurance their voice changed and assumed I couldn't afford it. So I thought I would try a midwife instead. I decided to call ABC after some research. The first call with Josephine was really nice, then the first tour of the place was great. We booked our birth there right away. Everyone there is very nice, relax and make us feel very comfortable. They treat me more like a friend and less like a patient. Even though I didn't know my exact due date (2 weeks off) or I had GBS positive or I had gestational diabetes, they made me feel confident that everything is alright and I would have a fine baby. I'm also glad that we took the birthing class at ABC, they taught us what kind of exercises to practice for a smoother labor. Or you will know the signs of real vs. false labor so you won't jump in the car at the first contractions. Take the class, you won't regret it! My early labor was from midnight into the morning and I pretty much slept through it. In the morning I felt waves of pain that came and went and when I saw the bloody show I knew it was time to call ABC. We arrived 2 hours later, they were already waiting for us. I labored in the bathtub for a while and had our baby shortly after (3hrs after we arrived). It was a satisfying birth! There were 5 midwives at a time there for me and baby. What a privilege! It took them 6 hours to fix me up and get me ready to go home with the baby. I really appreciate how patient and gentle they were (I couldn't get up to the bathroom and then couldn't empty my bladder). And then they took their time to stitch me up gently. Krisha was the last to leave, she made sure I was well enough to go home. She was so sweet!! All and all, I want to say big thanks to everyone in Allen Birthing Center (Rebekah, Kristen, Josephine, Diane, Lauren, Lana, Krisha and Amy) for being excellent at what they are doing. I'm looking forward to having my next babie(s) there! Notes for expecting mamas: - Don't just prepare for labor, prepare for postpartum as well. My first 2 weeks was 10 times worse than labor!! - Take the birthing class - Listen to midwife and control your breathing, it makes a difference between painful and blissful labor.
