Needed an oil change, my wife said there was a coupon for this shop. I found the coupon which is "premium plus oil change $33.90 includes tire rotation Top off fluids: power steering, anti-freeze & washer inspect belts, hoses & filters check and adjust tire pressure, brake inspection ($25 or more on any oil change for high mileage oil. Most vehicles. Not valid with any other offers.". I then called the shop directly, and mentioned that I had a coupon, and I also told them the year make and model of my vehicle to make absolutely certain that the coupon would be valid for me, and in his exact words the gentleman on the phone told me that nothing about my car would affect the validity of the coupon. When I arrived and offered the coupon to the gentleman in the front, I was told that because my vehicle takes full synthetic oil that the coupon would not be valid at first I shrugged and figured I might not have read it completely. well I decided to re-read the coupon And mention to him that nowhere on the coupon does it say anything about conventional or full synthetic oil. So I asked my wife to send me a picture of the coupon book and it also said absolutely nothing about oil type requirements there either. It's important to note that I drive a very basic Toyota car nothing fancy so when he then told me that they could do an oil change for $94 which is more than I have ever paid for an oil change in my life, I immediately walked out. I cannot speak to the quality of their work, but I think it does speak to the quality of either their character or their writing comprehension. I went to express oil change and tire engineers one block down from them and got treated right for a much more reasonable price. read more

Loved coming here and will definitely be back. I got my oil change and had my tires rotated. I haven't changed my brakes since I purchased my car (60,000 miles ago), and I was having no issues but asked them to check them out for me. I was cautious in doing this, because I know businesses want to make money and may tell me they need to be changed even when they don't. I got a call a few hours later (they were pretty busy when I pulled in), and told me my brakes were fine and my car was ready. I know I shouldn't expect people to screw me over, but they definitely could have and chose not to. I also had a sticker (which the last TWO oil changes I got forgot and I had to go back for one), and they reset my oil life monitor (which no one ever does and I usually have to do myself). What really told me this was the place I'll be coming from now on is that when I picked up my car, there was a young man in the lobby questioning whether they actually needed an air filter in their car or Precision was just trying to up-sell them. The guy looked over and said sir, we don't have to, but I will show you your dirty one and if you've been getting worse gas mileage, that's why. Super nice, and the patience won me over :) read more

Went in to get my steering fluid checked and not only did they check out the problem at hand but they also did a thorough inspection of the whole car since it's older and I got three major problems fixed for about the price of one at other places. They were helpful, quick, thorough, and communicative. And months later everything is still running smoothly. Will go back to this place for regular oil changes and any future problems! read more

It's New Year's Eve. 5:50 PM. Dark, cold and raining. Shop closes at 6:00 PM. I walk in and ask if there's any possibility of getting an oil change. Manager hesitate about a split-second, and then... Sure! Bring'er on in. Work begins immediately and the oil is changed, filter changed, tires rotated, fluids topped up and I'm out in no time at all. I'll be back. By the way, just as I was leaving I remembered that Ace, the manager, used to assist me about fifteen years ago out at Tires Plus on College Station Road. I've used this location of Precision Tune for about 5 or 6 years (corner of Atlanta Hwy and Alps Rd.) Took the car in this morning at 8am to get what I thought was a whiny belt pulley replaced. The manager (Ace) called at about 11:30 and said it indeed was the tensioner pulley, and he quoted me a price. He stated that he would have to order the part and that it might get there in the afternoon, but likely the next day. At about 2:40pm the same afternoon, Ace called back and said they had gotten the part on today's delivery, had replaced the old one, and it was ready for pickup. When I went to pick it up, the bill was about 16% less than he quoted me over the phone!!! It's like that every time! Consistent, honest, great service! Brakes, oil changes, tune ups. I'm a recent grad of UGA, and have gotten my oil changed at Precision Tune for the past few years. They've always had very reasonable prices, and have always been very professional and polite. One day, I was about to make a long drive to south Georgia, but I started hearing a wierd click/crunching noise in my front drivers side hub. I took it to them near closing time, expecting them to have to replace some significant part (which would have resulted in me not making the trip). I explained the problem, and I got to watch as one of their mechanics extracted an errant bolt from inside my shield for my disk break. Problem solved, free of charge, even though I insisted on paying. They could have very well turned me away, or have tricked me into believing it was a more costly repair than it was. I am not satisfied with the performance from Precision Tune. I had my oil changed and serpentine belt replaced. Before I got home, my car was making a strange creaking noise. I took it back and they found a piece of plastic left on the belt from the packaging. Then, the next day, my check engine light comes on while driving to Atlanta. Turns out, the folks at Precision Tune broke my purge valve hose while installing the new belt! It wasn't cracked from wear and tear-it was broken into two pieces! Now, I'm out $250. Never going back here again. Wouldn't recommended this place to anyone. read more

I used to live in the apartments next to this place behind the Fresh Market, so I would see this place all the time. I drive a Honda that's still under warranty, though, so I never figured I would need to visit this place. Then one day I got my oil changed at the Honda dealership in town. When the service associate returned, he gave me my write-up sheet and told me my brakes were all down to 3 mm and it would be around $400 to replace them all. I figured since the brakes aren't covered under my extended warranty I would shop around. I called Precision Tune to see what they charged. The guy who answered the phone was called "Ace," and he told me I should drop by and have them look at the brakes just to see if they really were that low. The price he quoted was gonna be about 25% cheaper than the dealership, so I dropped the car off and told them to just go ahead and change them if they needed it. About an hour and a half later I got a call from the shop saying they had replaced the front brakes but the back ones were fine. This shop had every reason to rip me off and didn't. I had already told them the dealership said the back brakes needed replacing, and they could have just lied and agreed and taken my money. The money they left on the table by being honest with me was a solid investment decision. Any non-waranteed service I need will go through them from now on. I highly recommend them. Also, look for their coupons in the local super saver booklets. read more

THE BEST!!! This HONEST SHOP provides EXPERT CAR CARE! They don't cheat single women, seniors, students, or anyone else. This shop rescued us after a Nightmare Brake Job at a national tire chain on the Athens Watkinsville border near Kroger & Home Depot that left us with no parking brake, & noisy, smoking brakes!!! We'd had routine brake work done at the Tire shop for +$500 (on schedule at appropriate recommended mileage). PRECISION talked with the Tire Shop after they refused to honor their warranty and hung up on us! PRECISION also redid the brake job for +$100 less than the Tire Shop had charged us & gave us the defective parts. PRECISION's brake experts gave us strong, silent, safe brakes. Horrible experience!!!! The owner was very condescending to me when I told him what I needed fixed with my car, assuming I had no idea what I was talking about when I told him very specifically that I needed an alignment. Anyway, they also "fixed" my front driver window which needed a new motor, but they weren't able to replace the door properly and now the insulation dangles out of my car door and the plastic cover flops on the door. We're talking missing screws not resturned or replaced to the door to revive the existing functionality of the door. A horrible job for a terrible (expensive) price.... would not recommend to anyone, especially a woman or femme. I felt leered at, uncomfortable, and unhappy with the results. There are far better auto shops at better prices a stones throw from here (great shop on Hawthorn Ave) for anyone new to auto shop world in Athens, do yourself a favor and do not begin here. read more

I went for a premium brake pad service at this shop. Two weeks later, the front tire on passenger side made weird noice every time I step on the brake. I went back to the shop. They told me that the CV axial bent. It would cost me $200 for the part. I didn't believe them. I went to another shop and learned that the low grade brake pads caused the noise. I bought new brake pads and the problem was gone. I would not recommend this shop. read more

I went to this Precision Auto Tune shop after moving to Athens, having sent all my cars to a store from the same franchise for over a decade. I came for a simple procedure (I would have done it myself, but didn't have the tools), but the technician quickly found "problems" with the engine and the transmission that he and the person working at the front desk quickly quoted me would cost several hundred to fix. Completely unacceptable practice. I had come in to replace the rim and control arm effectively leaving it in their care. This is brand new car with less than 10k miles on it as well as on to the fact that I had inspected the whole vehicle before putting it in their possession. There were no damages on the car except for the rim and control arm. The parts were replaced yet when I got my car back, there were multiple dents on the roof of my car. I had confronted them about it and had talked to the owner, Mark, but he refused to acknowledge that damages were done under his care. He then proceeded to blame that leftover wax could have contributed as well as the fact that I myself had damaged the roof. Based on the damages, any one would have known if they had hit something hard enough to create the dents. Mark, the owner, then also proceeded to say that he had looked at a week's worth of security footage showing the fact that it did not happen under their care but would not allow me to review the footage myself. This is not the kind of place that you should be taking your car. Bad business practices as well as poor customer care. read more
