My Mother purchased a Certified Pre Owned 2013 Equiniox at this place with no money down! It looked brand new. I come to Smith for oil changes and they do a great job but it takes over an hour but you do get a free overall inspection. At one time a misfire happened to our car and was given a discount. Regina is very nice and helpful at giving you service. About buying a used car there be sure it's Certified Pre Owned because their used cars I have questions about. It's best to get an extended Warranty if you buy a used car. After 8 years of having my Equinox the engine went out. Located in Portage Indiana, near to the Lake Station exit of the Indiana Tollway (exit 21), we called Precision Towing on a Saturday for flat tire gripe. Because of the speed of collision that occurred the rim was likely bent and so we could not manually remove the flat to place the spare in. They arrived very quickly and efficiently and professionally handled the situation. Being an hour away from home on the side of a major highway is no fun and they remedied the situation. The day would have been ruined without them. Also their price was very affordable. Would use their services again if needed in the area. read more

We recently had our car towed to this establishment because it was where AAA would take it. We had their mechanic work on our Honda, which basically didn't need anything done other than to try a different key. There was something wrong with the ignition switch. The mechanic proceeded to change the fuel pump which only later caused more problems. The car is now unoperational. This is the main car that we drive our 4 and 2 year old children around in... We will never take it back there. They were very nice people, but very unsatisfactory service.... read more

I was planning to move ross country. I came in with a stalling issue on a carbureted vehicle, which had been narrowed down to a fueling issue. it took it to them, and I waited over a week for the job to get done. Well, 1 week and 1000 dollars later, i checked the ticket.. they had rebuilt my carb, changed my fuel pump, changed the COIL and DISTRIBUTOR (that's spark NOT fuel), and swapped my intake manifold gasket before figuring out that it was a rotten tube in the gas tank. So, the tech gives me back my keys and says he wanted my "POS" to burn to the ground!!! So, although it was running when i got it back (poorly I might add), i failed to notice the MASSIVE amount of white smoke pouring out of my tailpipes. Now, 1000 dollars, 1000 miles and 3 tows later, i take it to another shop to see what had happened after all these repairs. Well, it turns out that the intake manifold was sucking coolant into the cylinders... How does an anomaly like this happen? Well, it turns out that the wrong intake manifold gasket had been installed! At this point, i was tired and angry, but I thought.. "Fair enough, things like this happen".. So I called and asked them if i could be reimbursed for some of the things they didn't do properly. And they told me that they couldn't... Why? because i wasn't getting any of the repairs done at THEIR shop.. AFTER I told them I was getting these repairs done so that i could drive it cross country. read more

I can't say enough about these guys. I was stranded in my classic car after something in the electrical system went out. I called AAA, and my insurance roadside assistance, both quoted 2.5 hours to get a truck there. Luckily, I saw a Precision truck across the street. I flagged him down and he called his boss to get me a flatbed. The driver was incredibly nice, professional, and extremely careful with my classic. We got it home to my garage safe and sound. Was on my way to Chicago from Baltimore for the weekend when my alternator went out, just east of Portage. Precision Towing showed up within 20 minutes, towed my car to the garage, and had the new alternator on order before I got there. It was Friday around 4:30, so anywhere else we would have been stuck, but they were open until 8. We couldn't get the part until Saturday, so we thought our trip was ruined, but they gave us a ride to the train station and we caught a commuter rail train into Chicago and had a great weekend. Monday morning they picked us back up from the train and the car ran great. A reasonable price for the repair and great guys to deal with. Would recommend them to anybody. read more

Great place to deal with! Honest company & the tow driver I had, Adam, brought the roll back for my 4 wheel drive & actually got my truck started for me! He told me about the shop they have & it was literally 3 blocks down the street from my house. The next week when my truck didn't start, I asked my insurance company to please call Precision Towing again & have my truck towed to their shop. Adam the same driver came out again, I knew when he was going to be there, he was professional & has a great since of humor which always helps when your having to deal with vehicle problems. He even helped my daughter get back up when she tripped & fell on the asphalt in front of him while he was strapping the truck down, lol. Since I live down from their shop, I see the driver from time to time & he always asks about my truck & my daughter, lol. I will definitely call them again if/when I need repairs! read more

the employees last night (1/9/19) were so extremely rude & unprofessional! it was almost 11pm at night, 2 large trucks came to pick up only 1 vehicle (overkill!?) here in our apartment complex... yet-- rather than c they just laid on their vehicle horns!!! without any regard whatsoever to how late it was, that most people have to work in the morning, or that kids have school in the morning! therefore, not only did i express to all of the men onsite last night, i also immediately called the main office/hq to express my extreme upset about their unprofessionalism & situation!! again-- as i said, rather than actually calling the person they were here for, instead they took thelazy & rude route by just blowing their horns! i am sure that precision towing is an excellent company...but-- these employees (in not just 1 but-- 2 of their company trucks! (again--overkill much?!!) these employees most definitely were not!!! but-- please note --- i am very appreciative & impressed by the main office/hq person that i spoke to....explaining the situation & addressing this issue. if it were possible to give each side of this equation the star rating.... hq would absolutely get 5 stars!!! the 1 star rating is purely for the rude & unprofessional guys that came to our (very large complex) last night. read more

We needed a windshield wiper repair while driving through Portage on a rainy day. They did the repair right away, gave us a great price, and sent us on our way. A few hours later we realized that the windshield got cracked in the midst of the repair. After talking to the owner, he sent us a check for the full price of the new windshield. Terrible company with a very unprofessional manager by the name of Tim. One of their drivers was seen speeding and running a stop sign on the back roads of Valpo and upon stopping the driver he was clearly under the influence of something. He stated that he didn't see the stop sign (I'm sorry isn't it your job to know your area/roads as a tow truck driver with a DOT license to handle equipment efficiently)? But now I can't get any information about the situation and precision towing is acting as I'm the one with the problem for calling about the driver; instead of them taking responsibility for their irresponsible, moronic driver on the road. Don't use these guys, they are nothing but assholes. Karma sucks, what goes around comes around to all involved in this sad situation. read more

employee lives right next to me at riverside estates, a friend stopped by to drop off someone came in and used the bathroom and left within a few minutes only to notice her vehicle was missing. She was parked approximately a foot into his parking spot and this guy took it upon himself to get into the company tow truck and tow her car away without any notice, he also did not use his hazard flashers when doing this and was belligerent when finally telling us he did it after we made a police report. DO NOT, I REPEAT DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY FOR ANY OF THEIR SERVICES. The guy is a drunk that illegally towed a vehicle, without even calling the tow in or even knocking on my door to give us a chance to move (lights in my trailer were on, very obvious that we were all awake). I stress that you never call this company for any services, if they hire children such as my neighbor then there is no telling what type of business they actually run! read more

Our car broke down close to the Portage, IN exit on Interstate 80. Our insurance company roadside assistance contacted Precision Towing to flatbed my car to their shop. The truck was there in 15 minutes and to the shop at 4:PM on a Friday afternoon. I was skeptical at first as I was vulnerable being from the east coast with no other option. These people were unbelievably professional starting with the truck driver and once at the shop where Chuck the shop foreman quickly identified the problem as a broken timing belt. They actually stayed late, replaced the belt and we were on our way and the bill was actually less than I expected. All in these guys are the greatest. read more

Instead they went above and beyond to make our situation bearable. I was stranded on Hwy I94 on a Sunday evening in a traffic jam. I called my Auto Owners 800 towing service and in less than an hour Precision showed up. When Kyle stepped out of the truck he came out with a smile and looked at the vehicle and assessed right away the issue and knew we needed a tow. He towed it to the service department where it could be looked at the next day and then dropped us off at a local hotel. The next day Chuck (the mechanic) called us to let us know what the issue was etc.. Chuck was kind and friendly and had a really great demeanor and way of explaining what the issue was. He kept us updated the whole day as to the progress and had us on the road by 4:00. Which is amazing considering how busy their Monday was and what work needed to be done on our vehicle. He even said if he had to make his mechanics work later he would to get us back on the road, we live in Wisconsin. I couldn't have asked for a better situation to be in than in Precision Auto's hands if I were ever to break down again. Absolutely horrible customer service and follow through on communications. Damaged the bumper of my vehicle and despite discussing this issue with several people, I was dismissed and told the damage couldn't have happened at their shop. It was obvious they used straps to support the bumper on reassembly causing gouges and paint loss. They wouldn't take any responsibility. They just wanted me out of the shop and since they already had my money, why would they care? This place was based on a recommendation from a local police officer, and what a mistake this was. My family and friends will be staying FAR away from this place. read more

I believe they are somehow affiliated with the portage police. They cops seem to be getting some money out of it since they are the service the cops in portage use to tow your car. A cop pulled me over for an improper turn and I had forgot my insurance papers at home (three blocks away). He said he was towing the vehicle despite the fact that my nephew and disabled mother was in the car. He towed it away before I got back, with my insurance papers. It really seems like the crooked cops of portage use this service, since he did it on a Saturday, they are closed on weekends but they still pick up your vehicle and charge you for the two days. read more
