Just had Ray from Precision Rooter come by to clear some drainage problems. I suspect my review will largely echo those before me but when someone does a great job, I believe in thanking him, redundancy be damned! Here's why I am so pleased: 1. I called a nine am or so and Ray arrived by 10:30 -- right on time. 2. The woman I spoke to on the phone estimated the standard $145.00 fee and when Ray arrived, he said the same. He did not, like many other rooter services, try to sell me up. 3. Ray is very professional, competent, and friendly. 4. He made some suggestions about what I might do in the future -- with no pressure, btw. 5. He did a very thorough job of rooting the pipes from the house to the street. So there you have it folks -- five great reasons to contact Precision. Unfortunately, I am no stranger to backed up drains. After several attempts to unclog the drain ourselves, we were unsuccessful and decided to call the professionals. Found this company on Yelp and Ray was able to come out the same day. Ray is a nice young man and did the job to unclog the utility tub drain in less then 15 minutes. He has the proper equipment and took his time to be sure that the clog was completely cleared before leaving. He charged $145. Mainly.... we're glad to have it fixed. Called a couple of other plumbers closer to where I live, who did not pick up or went to vm. Precision Rooter & Drain answered right away and the coordinator was polite, courteous, and organized. Mario did a Super Mario job. He came within the specified timeframe, pointed out what the issue was -- a clogged main sewage line 15-20ft long -- worked efficiently, and helped clean everything up. They sent Ray over and he was just so pleasant, calm and efficient that it was a really positive experience. Ray called 15 mins before he arrived to give a head's up, then explained where he thought the problem was, ran the snake, cleared the clogs. He was also extremely helpful and patient in explaining the other plumbing related issues we had. You haven't looked up a rooter until you Really have an emergency and need a rooter. I've been working with Precision Rooter for almost 10 years and they are the most reliable service company we have. We manage 65 rental units and multiple commercial spaces. You can go budget which is going to cost you in the end or can go with the overpriced folks that give you a fake book of costs and try to sell you on the $1,200 water jet. My parents used these guys years ago when their pipes backed up. Apparently, pipes in older homes (most homes in SF are considered "old") have piping with a diameter that is too small to work in conjunction with a sink garbage diaposal. So if you drop too much food in there, the pipes get clogged up, which is exactly what happened. Precision Rooter came out and used a snake to clear out the pipes, and luckily none of the pipes needed to be replaced. There were a few things that I had always thought came with the territory for emergency plumbers: 1: They will never give you any idea of their cost over the phone, not even quote an hourly rate. They do this because they know that once there is someone at your house, you will pay more rather than risk waiting for another plumber that might charge the same anyway. 2: They all advertise some "mainline clearing special" which you later find out that you can't get for one reason or another. That was until I called Precision. Over the phone estimates And the $145 mainline snake advertised on their website was actually what I paid. Those two alone are what will get me to call them next time. These are just extras! They were at my house in less than an hour! (I know this is partially just luck but still) Their technician was friendly and seems to know what he is talking about. He expressed concern that there was some sand coming up when he cleared my pipes, that there may be a leak, but was not trying to upsell me. I never thought I would give a plumber five stars, but these guys exceeded my expectations. read more

Amazing! The sewer backed up in my multi-unit building, letting sewage accumulate in my garage. Called another plumber who tried to clear the drain and gave up, defeated. At 2:30 AM I called Precision and left a message asking them to call me first thing in the morning. Not 15 minutes later, Ray calls me back, making an appointment for the next morning, taking time to examine my problem on the phone. Next morning, he shows up right on time and promptly clears the drain that thwarted the other guy. Then he cleans up my garage floor and hangs out to talk to the guy from Dept. of Public Works about my drain system and how it might relate to the City's municipal drains! And all for $75!! ok so after 1 week of repairs from another plumber and $300 later i'm stuck with a clogged sewage line. All my sinks back up and i'm not able to use my own bathroom in my house. I just about give up hope then come across Ray from precision rooter and drain. Not only does he knock out the clog in 15 mins but he also guarantees his work for 30 days! My kitchen sink was blocked on Sunday night and while I tried all the home remedies, there was only one thing to do and that was call someone. I went on line and researched by distance, by rating, reading every comment.. Bottom line, I wasn't happy about having to call a plumber on my day off and deal with this. Decided on Precision Rooter and Ray. This was the first service I called. It was before 8 am on Monday (President's) day. He was so polite and accommodating. I felt sympathy in his voice. Seriously. I did a dumb thing and put sour kraut in the garbage disposal. Thought since it was already cut up small, what could it hurt. Well, it plugged up both sinks. It was a mess and wouldn't go down. I called Precision and Mario came the very next day. He was kind, understanding and also gave me pointers on what should not be put in the garbage disposal. Heads up--any starch like pasta, potatoes.....they swell in the pipes. No citrus peels. Anyway, the pipe was clogged and he had to use the rooter to get the pipe flowing. He was efficient and yet friendly. He did a great job and his business card is definitely in my file to call him when I have a problem with a future drain. Very reasonable price. In fact I had called my plumber for the bathtub drain that was slow draining and he charged me $100 more for that one drain. Won't make that mistake again. Call Precision. I called and Mario arrived in one hour. He was very polite and task-oriented, and observed all covid precautions. While working, he summarized what he was doing to me, which was informative. He had to snake my main drain line twice in order to access the clog due to the logistics of the way the drain was designed. The entire process took about 30 minutes and cost $275. I just got my kitchen sink drained cleared and it couldn't have been an easier process. I called at 9:15am to set an appointment for the afternoon. Ray called 15 minutes prior to arriving at my house and spent less than 30 minutes fixing the problem. He found another problem with my garbage disposal and recommended that I try to save some money and do a quick fix with a new washer and some putty, but would gladly be able to fix it later in the evening if I wanted. (I am opting to try to fix it myself, by the way). But, I appreciated his honest recommendation and his fast, very friendly service. I found Precision Rooter & Drain on yelp and decided to call them because I always have trouble with my storm drains and we are expecting a lot of rain this weekend. When I called someone answered and said he could come out the next day. This person was Ray. Ray called the next day to let me know he was on his way. He arrived right on time. He went on the roof and cleared the storm drain. He found some old paint in there that was clogging the drain. I cannot tell you how many plumbers I have called to clear that drain every year and not one has pulled something like that out. I had that area painted about 5 years ago so it has been in there that long. He then when and checked the drain in the yard and cleared that one too. Since he was here I asked him to check the shower drain and that one was fine. Ray was fantastic. He was very polite, fast and professional. We had a leak which we thought was coming from the roof, but turned out to be caused by a clogged drain. Precision Rooter was able to come out quickly and clear the drain, as well as others that hadn't been cleared in years. Not long after we had another drainage issue, which we thought was related to the earlier work. It turned out not to be, but nevertheless they cleared that issue too, and grandfather it under the previous bill. On both visits they were friendly, prompt, clean, and helpful. Ray was great. He cleaned out my side storm drain in 10 minutes then went in again with the snake to make triple sure it was clear. He came when he said he would and did what he said he would and charged what he advertised. I'd had another storm drain clog up about 6 months ago and called Discount. They charged $205 to do the same thing on another storm drain. Precision charged $75 for vs. $205. Some "Discount"! Great job, great price and they are 100% local company. I would even say he is very cheap compared to other big companies. And most importantley I admire his integerity. Sunday morning bathtime turned into a mess when the bath & toilet backed up, spewing stinky water all over the floor. A Yelp, then a call to Ray and we had a date - between 12 and 1, he said. He called 20 minutes before arriving, as promised, and showed up right at 12:30. Ray was polite, through & efficient as he quickly diagnosed the problem and identified his best method of accessing the clog. Undeterred by a painted-over cleanout, he had us flushing freely within an hour, and even gave us a break on the weekend surcharge. Overall, a very pleasant experience. One note - the $75 deal is only for cleaning out easily accessed drains - they have a flat-fee schedule for a number of different types of services.
