So when the pressure tank for my well started to leak, I replaced it. I did my online research as to the right model to get as well as how to install it. Ordered a new tank through Amazon and went to Home Depot to get copper pipe, valves and fittings - as well as some advice on how to put it all together. After the job, the system seemed to be okay - for a while. But then the pump started to short-cycle whenever I ran any water in the house. As long as the water was on, the pump would cut in and out every few seconds, while the pressure varied wildly. I got back online with a vengeance - scouring handyman forums. I even talked to a plumber and a well drilling contractor. I applied what I learned, but the problem still persisted. Since it was a jet pump system, the consensus then became that I needed to replace the venturi and foot valve in the well. I didn't want to do this myself, so I went onto Angie's List to seek help. A response came from Fortier's Plumbing. Sometimes you just luck out, and this was certainly the case for me. Justin is one of the best professionals I've ever worked with. He's patient, unassuming and meticulous. While I had already started digging down to the well, he was assessing everything I'd already done and made a few adjustments. Performance improved, but the basic problem still remained. Justin then noticed a valve serving no obvious purpose had been installed between the pump output and the pressure tank. After conferring with some colleagues on the phone, he decided that we should remove it from the system and replace it with a section of pipe. This did the trick. Even when the valve was open, it apparently had created just enough back pressure to cause spikes in water pressure that would then cause the pump to cut in and out. That valve had been there all along but didn't affect operations until after I'd installed the new pressure tank. Talk about a red herring! I'm glad Justin questioned it. What an expensive disaster it would have been to dig out the venturi and foot valve just to discover that the problem still wasn't solved! This is why I feel lucky. It just so happened that I found a pro who didn't jump to the same conclusions that others (including myself) did. He saved me my sanity and a lot of money! I can't recommend Justin Fortier's Plumbing enough! Justin loves what he does, and it shows. It's also obvious that quality work at a fair price is important to him. Because of what he referred to as "a learning curve," he knocked an hour's labor charge off my final bill. In hindsight I think I should have declined to accept that courtesy. As Justin himself put it, "We both learned something today." And that new knowledge for me is worth a lot more than the discount.

He came over, handed me a card with email and phone number on it and said he was available Thursday and Friday. I said i would like to book him those days. He would give me an estimate. He sent an estimate. I said yes please. He took several days to get back to me, and then said he no longer could honor those days. He offere me monday. Although i had plan to leave the state, I again said yes please. I was only available to be there that week, and i changed my flight so i could meet him Monday. I sent some follow up messages. I sent a confirmation query the day before. He informed me the morning he was supposed to arrive to work that he couldn't come. Another problem is that he arbitrarilly wants to continue communication through the yelp platform, which is really just for finding businesses and sharing feedback. As a cultural norm, people communicate by phone, text and email for regular communication. It's weird to arbitrarilly move communication back to yelp after making phone/email/text contact. It's very odd to expect someone to use yelp like a texing platform on a continued basis. How would a customer even know to look there for ongoing messgaes? I hire a lot of workers and i have never encountered this before. It's especially odd after meeting in person and handing a customer a business card with a phone number and email on it. A business should take in to account what the customary mode of communication is, especially for the client base it serves. In particular, I feel strung along by this business at a very real cost.
