My husband called and made an appointment with Precision Painting for 9:00 a.m. 8/30/23. At 9:30 a.m. when no one showed up, my husband called and left a voice message stating that an appointment had been made for 9:00 a.m. and to please call back. When estimate appointments are made the homeowner has to rearrange their schedule to meet the estimator, as well. Somewhere around 2:00 p.m. after we had heard nothing back, I called Precision Painting. A male answered the phone. I explained that an appointment had been made for 9:00 a.m. , that no one had shown up, and we had left a message on his voicemail, at 9:30 a.m., there was silence in response. After saying "Are you there?" a couple of times, there was a dial tone. Then, at about 2:22 p.m. I received a text asking if I receive texts. I replied, yes. He sent a message that 'Ok sorry my phone is not letting me talk or hear.' Yet, when I had called him he responded to my speaking and I heard him speaking. He sent another text 'I got caught up on a job... and wasn't able to call.' then asked if we could reschedule. All this made me feel uncomfortable about hiring this company for a job, so I politely responded "no thank you." to which he responded, about an hour later, 'Stop wasting my time' The whole experience was highly unprofessional. read more

we had Shane from precision painting come out to give us a bid on a house that we were under contract for. He put extreme pressure on us to sign a contract and we didn't even on the property. Multiple emails were sent to us trying to pressure us to commit to a house we did not own! Upon moving to Whidbey we had considerable difficulties finding someone who could paint the exterior of our house in the next year. We received a couple of quotes and ended up going with this group. When the rainy season set in a little earlier than expected, Shane and his team agreed to pivot our deposit to an interior paint job. They ended up coming back in the spring of 2022 to complete the exterior of our house. They also agreed to do some added work (e.g., exterior light installation, flag pole painting, etc.) that most companies would not touch. The crew was extremely friendly and easy to work with. The costs ended up matching what was quoted and both jobs were completed within two weeks. Very happy with the availability of this group and the quick turnaround!! read more

DO NOT USE THIS PAINTING COMPANY! We hired them to paint the interior and exterior of our home because we had seen them painting the exterior of a couple of houses in our neighborhood. After the owner inspected our property, we agreed on a price and paid 50% of the entire job up front which is normal in the industry. A couple of weeks later the owner's crew started on the interior. They were nice guys and seemed efficient and worked a normal eight hour day. We had a deadline for some other work in the bedrooms so the owner worked his crew longer for a couple of days to meet that deadline. About a week later, sent me an email saying I needed to pay him $700 in overtime for his crew. I told him we would pay $500 extra and he accepted that. After that, he began to work his crew until 8pm or later every night. I told him we were no longer on a timeline and would not contribute to his overtime costs. He agreed saying he needed to finish our job so he could move on to another. As the interior was nearing completion, I received an email saying the job would be done that night. We were temporarily living nearby so I walked down to the house at 9pm to check on his crew. They said they had more than an hour of work left but were hurrying to finish. Finally, at 10pm they told me they were very tired and that they would come back in the morning to finish. I said fine, as soon as you finish in the morning we will do the final walkthrough and I will pay the final payment for the interior. At eight the next morning, my wife checked her email and we had seven VERY threatening, angry emails from the owner that were sent over a twenty minute period around 10:30 the night before. He was screaming (all caps) "Pay Me! Pay me now!" "Pay Me!!!!!!!" "My crew said the job is perfect and you need to Pay Me Now! or I will slap a lean on your house the first thing in the morning!" The above is a compilation of the seven emails. I called him at 8:30am and he seemed very apologetic. I told him I wasn't happy about the threatening emails and he said it was a misunderstanding. I said stop by for the walkthrough when his crew finished and I would pay him. He then became very angry and started screaming at me over the phone that his crew was done and not coming back because they were already on another job. I said this job is not finished and when the final inspection was done he would get paid. He then hung up on me. I called him back and he started out apologetic but then started yelling for me to pay him. I told him he was fired from the exterior job which had not been started yet and that he could apply the deposit on the exterior as the final payment for the interior. This worked out to be about $200 in his favor so he agreed. I asked for a final billing reflecting this and he hung up on me again and he would no longer answer phone calls or emails. I subsequently learned from a neighbor who had this company paint the exterior of their home and they said he came to them half way through the job asking for an additional $1000 to pay for the repair of the pump on his paint sprayer. They said that equipment problems were his responsibility not theirs but he said he couldn't finish the job unless they paid for the pump repair. They reluctantly agreed. We also found out that he is not highly thought of at the local paint supply store. Over the next week or so after he left our home with a not quite completed paint job, we found 60 to 70 defects that they should have corrected and areas such as behind the refrigerator were unpainted even though he specifically agreed to paint these areas. I attribute most of the defects to an overworked crew and as I previously stated, they were nice guys. In fact, his crew leader sent me a text the next morning apologizing for the antics of his boss and the crew leader offered to come over after work on his present job to finish up for us. I declined his offer as nice as it was because I wanted nothing further to do with this company. In all, we spent about $700 over the original estimate and the job was not complete. We learned the hard way to dig a little deeper in researching companies for a major job like this. Again, do not use this company. read more

We had a very good experience with Precision Painting in August 2019. I had been having difficulties finding a painting contractor who was interested in painting a high-pitched metal roof when I found Precision's ad in the phone book. Mr. Dohoney and his crew were actually able to work our project into the schedule a day ahead of their forecasted arrival date, and we were very pleased with the prospect of finishing the roof before the rainy season begins here in the Pacific Northwest. The team was fantastic to work with; they were very meticulous to first thorough clean and etch the roof to prepare it for painting and they covered all the windows and skylights prior to starting. They worked solely on our project until it was finished (no taking off early to go see to some other job in progress elsewhere), and we are very happy with the final result--our roof looks new again, and the paint will help extend its life (thus saving us a LOT of money on having to replace it early). When the project was finished, the crew cleaned up so well we wouldn't have known they'd been there if we hadn't been at home. The owner, Mr. Shane Dohoney, was present and working alongside his team to ensure for himself that all quality measures were observed--this was a very positive aspect of the project to know that the lead person was supervising all aspects of the procedure. All in all, we are very glad to have found this conscientious, fairly priced, and reliable contractor, and will certainly be calling upon them again for our next painting project. If it were possible to give less than 1 star I would do it. I agree with previous review - nice crew, horrible owner. I'd hired them 5 years ago when I bought my house to clean the roof, wash and paint the house and decks. Put down 50% deposit and part way through the paint job the crew painted the wrong color on some trim that they had to sand off and apply the correct color. The owner wanted payment in full before the job was done. Finally they finished and I paid by direct deposit to the owner's checking account and was glad to be rid of him. Now getting ready to sell my house I needed the roof cleaned, the house and decks washed, and the decks painted. Contract states payment by check but I do not use checks and the owner called to say they could start 'tomorrow' but he knew I was only home on the island on the weekends so I said I could not pay by check and I offered to do a direct deposit for the 50% deposit. He offered to charge my cc instead so I gave him the info and they started the work. When I got home a couple days later the owner claimed the washing was done and they would soon start the painting. I verified the roof was clean but the house and decks were not - there were spider webs and bird droppings on the siding, the decks railing, the stair hand railings, and it was obvious no water had touched the decks to the 2 back doors. I took pictures to document. As I had company coming over for dinner I asked them to do a walk around and give me their opinion and they agreed it wasn't a bad job, it was NO job. Next day owner came over and we walked around. He claimed that cob webs wouldn't wash off. He claimed the white spots wouldn't wash off (so I rubbed them with my finger to show that they easily came off). So then he tried to claim that if they had to REdo the job it would put them behind schedule (not my problem). I said there was no REdo about it since they hadn't done the job once yet. Finally he admitted he'd told the crew to only wash off the debris from the roof. I leave for the week and get home last Friday expecting the job to be done and the painting has not been started. I have company coming for dinner Saturday that we intend to sit on the deck. I get an email from owner late Friday night saying they'll be there 8:30am Saturday. They show up 8:15am Saturday and will be painting the decks - essentially painting me inside my house so as to not walk over wet paint. And I could not have dinner on the deck. Sometime around mid-day the owner came by and said that he wanted me to pay the cc processing fee (say what?) and he would give me a discount on the cans of extra paint he bought. The crew did a good job and finished early evening. Almost immediately the owner sent the final invoice. I replied I would do a walk around in the morning and pay then. The next day he sent email asking if I'd checked the job and demanded payment. I replied that I accepted the work but would either pay by direct deposit, or cashiers check, or if HE chose for me to pay by cc I would not pay the processing fee. Also that paint was included in the bid so I'd already paid for the paint. He replied he was going to charge my cc the final amount PLUS the processing fee. I replied he was not authorized to charge my cc. He sent a threatening email. I replied that the fastest way for him to get the money was direct deposit so I was doing that (I still had his account info on file from when he'd painted my house years earlier). I clearly stated that I had initiated payment and closed with "I never want to hear from you again." Over the next couple hours he sent MULTIPLE threatening emails demanding payment. HELLO?? Even if I'd given him my cc, with 2 day settlement, he would not have the money faster than direct deposit. Even if I'd handed him a paper check (which I couldn't because I don't use paper checks), he wouldn't have been able to deposit it and have the funds available until the next day. Nice crew, positively horrendous owner. Basically tried to walk away from our first job and wouldn't return emails, phone calls, or anything until we got the BBB involved. A couple of years later, the paint on the decks and front door was flaking off. A chance run-in with the owner led to his offering to fix the front door for free. Thought he might redeem himself but--not even close! Precision Painting does a great job! We have hired them twice, first to paint the interior of our newly purchased older home, and recently to stain the exterior. They have been on time, efficient, easy to contact, responsive, and did a beautiful job of painting both times. Shane is delightful to work with and the painters were friendly, informative and nice to have around, besides working diligently. If we have any painting projects in the future, we will hire them back. I have recommended them to my neighbors who have complimented us on how nice our house looks now. read more
