I have some experience in the building trades and was impressed by what I saw both in the quality of work and by the simple fact that unlike many Contractors/Subs these days, when Spane's crew got started, they didn't stop until the project was finished. In early 2025 I decided I wanted to build a 30'x32' shop at my house for my own use. I got bids from 5 different contractors and I decided on Spane for three main reasons: First, in my initial and subsequent meetings with Michelle, their designer and estimator, I learned she was very knowledgeable, personable, and very easy to work with. She took me through the entire design/build process from the beginning to the end, cheerfully answered my questions and put up with me changing my mind several times during the process. Because of her thoroughness, there were no surprises from start to finish. She made it easy. Second, Spane's bid came in the lowest, but I thought it was reasonable as I had done my own estimate of materials and labor based on current costs. (Unlike some of these Contractors around here who jack their bids up to try to make a years profit from a 2 month project...) Third, and most important, over the years I had seen for myself the quality of their work and at the end of my build, my new shop is exactly what I expected and exactly what I wanted. In today's world, Spane actually understands and pursues customer satisfaction and I can't recommend them highly enough.

I really wanted to find a reason to keep the five star review but there have just been too…read moremany issues that have been discovered as the last few months have gone by to keep that review. I am going to have to get the entire vaulted ceiling in my great room repainted. It has become obvious that two different finishes of the same color paint were used. The flat was used for the initial work and then when it came to the trim and touch ups he used an eggshell which has a slight reflective finish. The pot lights in the kitchen are ringed in the eggshell. There is a 4'x3' patch in the middle of the office wall that is eggshell. The plaster gouges under the master bedroom window we're not repaired before painting. There was a fine spray of paint on the bay windows in the dining area. It seems all the touch ups through out the house have a "shine". There were two lengths of baseboard that were not attached to the wall. In the master bedroom there are 4" circles of flat paint over the eggshell wall. I will eventually have to have the kitchen cabinets redone because the application was not at the level it should be. Very disappointed.

He gave us expert advice about the kind of paint that should be used due to weather and the navy blue color we had chosen (another contractor wanted only to use flat paint). Robert did the actual work - power washed the house, sealed around the windows, sealed the cracks in wood siding and then the actual painting. Had some help for some of the work but most was done by Robert. We are totally pleased with the results.

Nate, the owner of B&B Painting quickly came to our rescue when he learned we had just fixed the…read morewater line plumbing leak in both bedrooms. The area had been dried out and was ready for plasterboard and painting and luckily in mid January Nate was able to come right away. He did a masterful job replacing the damaged plasterboard and after all the tape and mud work were done, the transitions from new to old were invisible. He did a smooth wall finish and did not have a texture coating to hid defects. After applying the primer and two top coats, the walls and ceilings looked like new. Hw worked quickly and consistently, coming every day to apply the needed many layers of mud until the surfaces were ready for paint. He used a bright light at a raking angle to locate and correct any defects until the wall and ceiling were very smooth and transitioned with out a blemish into the original areas. The many plumber's access holes in the ceiling made for lots of neck-breaking work; all of which were virtually invisible after B&B finished the work. We plan to use him this Spring on the home exterior and are confident we will get a high quality job at a fair price.
