After making an appointment at Best Buy for this to be done, I showed up to find that it would be a 2-3 hour wait. I'm not sure what the appointment did for me? I didn't have the time for this, so I left. It was then that I remembered Niles. Found that he had a storefront now, so I called about my battery replacement. They assured me it could be done. I asked how long it would take. They said about 10 minutes, unless it was busy, in which case it would take 20. Did I need to make an appointment? Not necessary, they said, just drop on by. Came in the next day. Super friendly and courteous, as I remembered, and they seemed a little busy, but I was assured it wouldn't take more than 20 minutes. They also coached me on some battery tips, and let me know to come right back if I encountered any problems. The cost was $9 more than Best Buy, but for the convenience, it was an easy decision. Was in and out in the promised 20 minutes. One thing: they are cash only. I never carry cash, so I had to run to an ATM.

I couldn't get the screen in time through Amazon. Based on the reviews and I went to Niles. The brothers were very nice and replaced the screen for $250.00. In less than a week, the screen started to crack due to dropping the phone which I never had a problem with OEM screen. The phone became hot and the screen wasn't very bright. I couldn't take photos outside cuz it became very dark. Battery drained very fast. I talked to the owner about it and he said that the IOS software update caused the battery to drain and there's nothing he can do about the crack. So I ended up ordering a high quality "OEM" aftermarket screen from Amazon by ReOriginal ($280.00) and replaced the screen myself. BINGO, the screen works the way it should and didn't have an issue even I dropped the phone. So do your research before buying a replacement screen, ask about the brand, and quality. Mason advised I just replace my tower, so I took myself and my credit card to Best Buy where I purchased a lenovo computer CPU that looks like a tiny spaceship. I took the new "little guy" and the tower of the old computer back to Cal Tech. Mason efficiently moved my data to the "little guy", and did so at a reasonable price. I have since then dealt with Ethan, Matt, and Brent, the owner, who answered the phone on a Saturday! All of them have been considerate and clear in their explanations. Instead of asking questions or attempting to understand the problems, he immediately declined my request, claiming he didn't service my area. This was particularly confusing because I'm in San Luis Obispo, where he also operates. After I questioned him about this, he suddenly confirmed that he was indeed in San Luis Obispo and offered to look at my laptop. He then suggested that it sounded like an electrical grounding issue, despite the symptoms not clearly pointing toward that diagnosis. I understand that computer problems can be complicated and that no technician can guarantee a solution without examining the machine. However, the inconsistent communication, immediate dismissal, and seemingly premature diagnosis did not inspire confidence. I was looking for someone knowledgeable who would take the time to understand the issues before suggesting possible causes. Unfortunately, this interaction left me questioning the professionalism and technical expertise of this business. I decided not to move forward with his services and would recommend looking elsewhere for gaming laptop diagnostics.
